Explore the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture then dine nearby.

Browne’s Addition is an unhurried neighborhood full of charm that invites you to stay a little longer.

GARLAND DISTRICT

Spokane’s Retro Soul, Alive in the Present

Garland is a time capsule that moves. Murals on brick facades, a classic 1940’s movie marquee that glows at dusk, and a sidewalk scene that invites new visitors and lifelong locals to share stories. You can browse vinyl, catch a matinee, and step into night with a comedy set or curbside milkshakes.

In summer, artist pop-ups and sidewalk concerts turn the main drag into a living gallery that is both nostalgic and new at once.

HILLYARD

Creative District with Rail‑Town Grit

Hillyard wears its story on its sleeve: rail heritage, working-hands pride, and a wave of makers transforming warehouses into studios. The hum of fabrication gives the district a kinetic feel. Walk or bike the Children of the Sun trail from the Little Spokane River in the north down through Hillyard to take in the entire district.

Hillyard weekends are full of street fairs and family-friendly shows, but even on quiet afternoons, Hillyard rewards the curious with authentic hospitality. Summer brings the beloved Hillyard Festival in early August.

NORTH MONROE

Reinvention with Character

North Monroe is a district that asks you to slow down. The North Monroe Business District is pedestrian-friendly and a destination for diners, craft beer lovers, antique enthusiasts, and shoppers.

The best moments are small: a vintage score, a barista who remembers your name, a maker inviting you behind the counter to see how it’s done.

SPRAGUE UNION DISTRICT

Industrial Roots, Neighborhood Heart

Sprague has texture you can feel: neon glow, hand-painted signs, repurposed brick, and locally owned spaces that keep their porch lights on. This revitalized neighborhood is outwardly modest and inwardly magnetic. Summer turns the sidewalks social with evening pop-ups, spirits, wines, and block-party energy anchored by the district’s loyal regulars.

SOUTH PERRY DISTRICT

Spokane’s Most Welcoming Street

South Perry grew from the inside out: gardens over fences, kids on bikes, dogs under tables, and a weekly market that feels like a reunion. It’s equal parts small-town and city-creative.

On summer Thursdays, the air smells like flowers and street food, music floats down the block, and neighbors turn into hosts for anyone wandering through and exploring the Perry Street Thursday Market.

PARKS & WILD SPACES

Within city limits, you’ll find shady lawns, splash pads, and botanical surprises; just beyond, Washington’s two largest state parks open into forests and viewpoints.
