Pompano Beach is named after the Florida pompano, a prized game fish found off the City’s coast, renowned for its delicious flavor and popular among fishermen and seafood enthusiasts. The Fisher Family Pier’s design mimics the shape of a pompano’s head, and throughout the City, you’ll find 5-foot-tall painted pompano statues, part of Pompano Beach’s first major public art installation.

EXPLORE THE BEACH
Pompano Beach is more vibrant, welcoming, and beautiful than ever. Bask in the sunshine along 3 miles of expansive sandy shoreline and enjoy the tree-lined promenade, where you might catch a live concert on the great lawn or see kids having fun at the interactive splash pad. Stay active with outdoor gym equipment, relax under a gazebo with a picnic, or grab a bite from nearby eateries.
A short walk along the promenade leads to the iconic, 900-foot Fisher Family Pier, ideal for strolling, fishing, or watching the pelicans. Fishing rods and bait are available at the Bait Shack located at the pier’s entrance.
The pier anchors the Pompano Beach Fishing Village, where you’ll find ample parking, a variety of dining options, a tiki bar, a cozy coffee hub, and other shops. Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center at the southwest corner of the Beach Garage for recommendations, information, and discount coupons.

Ali Cultural Arts Center is a unique venue offering public visual art exhibits, musical and dance performances, providing a glimpse into the heritage of the Pompano Beach African-American community, and has become a center for the arts and history of Pompano Beach.
Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA) is a beautiful contemporary art gallery. On the second floor there are working studio spaces for BaCA’s resident artists, who range from collagists to potters, painters to sculptors. Patrons can venture upstairs to watch them create. The center area provides a lounge space for brainstorming or small meetings. It is the second oldest historical building in Pompano Beach.

PLACES OF INTEREST
Sample-McDougald House is a historic 4,700-square-foot home built in 1916. Originally located on Dixie Highway, it was relocated to 450 Northeast 10th Street by the Sample-McDougald House Preservation Society. Pompano Beach Air Park offers various services, including flight training, aircraft rentals, air taxi/charter, scenic tours, and aerial photography. The popular jogging/walking path around the air park’s perimeter is a favorite for both residents and visitors.
Goodyear Blimp, one of only three, the Wingfoot Two is based in Pompano Beach. The general public is welcome to visit the base, though rides are by invitation only, tours of the base are available when the Blimp is in town. Visit goodyearblimp.com for more information.
The Historical Society keeps Pompano Beach’s history alive with its monthly, 2-hour narrated bus tour of the city’s most historic sites, including recently revitalized landmarks. Private tours of the historic Kester Cottages Museum are also available by appointment.
IT’S EASY TO VISIT
POMPANO BEACH:
Accessible by three international airports, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport just 30-minutes away. Private planes may travel through Pompano Beach’s own Air Park.
Easily accessed by car via I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike.

The Tri-Rail Train stops at Pompano Beach Station, while Amtrak serves Fort Lauderdale. Situated between Brightline’s Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale stations, Pompano Beach is easily accessible by high-speed rail from both Miami and Orlando.
Once here, utilize the Circuit, a free, ondemand, City-sponsored micro-transit option, to explore the coastal area. Service may be ordered via the Circuit App.
E-bike rentals and electric vehicle chargers are available throughout the beach.

The Pompano Beach Water Taxi has 12 stops, allowing passengers to easily explore local attractions, dining, shopping, and more.
