Pittsburgh See and Do Guide Summer 2025

SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER

PITTSBURGH WELCOME TO

We’re so glad you’re visiting Pittsburgh in our lovely fall and winter seasons. You get to find out firsthand what landed Pittsburgh on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel list – the only U.S. city to make the list.

In the fall, our tree-lined cityscape becomes a stunning mosaic of yellow, orange and red foliage as the weather changes following summer. It’s perfect to take in while riding our historic inclines along Mt. Washington. And be sure to check out our amazing museums and cultural offerings, such as the Heinz History Center, voted No. 1 History Museum in the U.S. for a second year.

As the temperatures drop, enjoy the soft blanket of snow that wraps our iconic skyline. Though the weather may get colder, there’s no shortage of festivals, markets and fun activities for the whole family. Be a local for the weekend and take in the view at Acrisure Stadium while cheering on the Steelers. Or do some shopping for unique wares at the European holiday market downtown. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and Pittsburgh Botanic Garden all offer dazzling light displays during the holiday season. Grab a cup of hot cider and take them in on a frosty evening.

Of course, no trip to Pittsburgh is complete without sampling our local cuisine. We’re known for our iconic french fry-topped sandwiches from Primanti Bros., but be sure to also find some award-winning and James Beard-nominated offerings such as the Polish delicacies from Apteka, Thai food in a gorgeous setting at Pusadee’s Garden or Nordic plates from Fet-Fisk.

Whatever your interests are, we know you’ll find something. Pittsburgh is a city of multitudes, after all! We’re made up of 90 neighborhoods, each with its own unique flair, offering and point of view. Be sure to check as many of them out as you can while you’re here. And leave a couple for next time – we can’t wait to welcome you back to our city.
