A 55 minute flight may be available on the date of your trip.

Although the city itself is not a major attraction, it offers a great starting point from which to explore the spectacular mountain ranges of the Cordillera Blanca in the Huascaran National Park – home to Peru’s highest peak, Mt. Huascaran at 6,768 m/ 22,205 ft. above sea level the largest Mountain Protected area and a UNESCO World heritage Site.

In the Area one can also visit and trek in the more rugged and remote Cordillera Huayhuash– setting of the epic mountaineering story “Touching the Void”. Imposing pre-Inca sites, spectacular mountain ranges, lush inter-Andean valleys and fascinating history make Huaraz a choice destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers worldwide.

ITINERARY: Day 1: LIMA / HUARAZ Pick up from your hotel. Transfer to bus station. 7 hour ride to Huaraz. (Flight may be available, please check at time of booking) Arrive in Huaraz and transfer to your hotel to relax and get used to the altitude. Overnight Hotel Andino (No meals) Day 2: FULL DAY CLIMATE CHANGE ROUTE Early in the morning (07:00 hours suggested) the route of Climate Change will begin.

The first suggested stop before arriving at the Interpretation Centre is Patococha: an old lagoon slowly changing into grassland. At the Interpretation Center and with the help of dynamic models, you will understand the Origin of the Cordillera Blanca. It is the first Interpretation Center in Peru displayed under the thematic of Climate Change, where you will learn the importance of this natural area in adapting to this natural phenomenon.

Following you will have a chance to see how water is purified through a natural process.

The next stop is at the waterholes of Pumashimin, where the water changes its color according to solar lighting. From this point and after a 30-minute walk, you will reach the Mirador, from where you will be able to see a majestic view of Pastoruri and how the melting of the glacial has been advancing with the passing of the years. On the way to Mirador, you will also find the famous Puya Raimondi, a unique high Andean species, iconic and threatened, has particular characteristics in size, flowers and leaves. Finally, on the way back to Huaraz, you will be able to see the evidence of fossils that reveal the past of Ancash. Overnight at Hotel Andino. (Breakfast and Lunch Included) Dinner on your own.

Day 3: HUARAZ/LIMA Transfer to bus station for ride back to Lima. (Flight may be available, please check at time of booking) Assistance in Lima on arrival. End of services. (Breakfast included).

Cancellations All passengers are subject to a cancellation fee, which will be charged according to the number of days prior to arrival in which the trip is being cancelled and in accordance with policies from third party providers such hotel, transportation companies, etc.

The following penalties fees/apply to cancellations:  0 - 15 days prior = 100% of total cost  16 – 30 days prior = 50% of total cost Insurance and medical issues We strongly recommend the use of a travel/medical insurance plan. If a member of a group gets sick or is incapacitated, we take care of him by getting a qualified doctor to him/her. In these cases, extra costs are assumed by the individual client, including hospitalization if necessary. In the case of accident and/or necessary emergency evacuation, the individual will cover all expenses. This is why we recommend the purchase of a travel/medical insurance purchased at home.
