As someone who has lived here her whole life, I was mind blown that I had never been there before. It was interesting to walk around the grounds, learn more of the history behind it, and explore!
PALATKAWATERWORKS
From 1886 to 1986 the PalatkaWater Works provided up to one million gallons of water a day the city for local use.When it closed the building and grounds fell into disrepair. In 1999, a grant was acquired to repair the roof and repoint the outside brickwork.With additional donations from many organizations, area businesses, and individuals, the first phase of restoration was accomplished in 2002. Since then, the interior of the building has been restored, an amphitheater and restrooms have been contructed, a nature trail has been developed, a large organic garden was establilshed, and a gopher tortoise and sand hill habitat has been added More is still being planned for the furture of WaterWorks.
