OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Adventure awaits in the Yorkshire Dales: stunning walks, caves, and starry skies
Miles of walking and cycling paths will keep you busy for weeks. Revel in moorland beauty, lush farmland and quiet country lanes; seek out waterfalls, forests and wide-open spaces where wildlife thrives, and when night falls enjoy some of the darkest skies in the UK.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is chock full of outdoor attractions, not to mention plentiful wildlife. Discover roaring waterfalls at Aysgarth and Janet’s Foss; traverse ancient limestone formations in Malham; explore a spectacular underground landscape with amazing caves such as Ingleborough Cave, Stump Cross Caverns (pictured) and White Scar Caves.
If you’re feeling adventurous, try a long distance walk on the Pennine Way or Coast to Coast national trails, or climb one of Yorkshire’s highest peaks. Settle’s position at the foot of the Pennines makes it an excellent base for walkers. Get off the beaten track at Nidderdale National Landscape, which is carved by river valleys, blanketed with moorland and nature-filled woodland.
