From early November through until the new year there’ll be firework displays, Christmas markets, events in our parks, pantomimes, the chance to meet Santa and so much more.

FIREWORKS
DISPLAY 4 November, from 6pm The Links, Whitley Bay This annual event, organised by North Tyneside Council, sees thousands of people turn out for a spectacular fireworks display along the coast. There will be fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm, with the main display starting at approximately 7pm. In the event of poor weather conditions the display will take place on the next available evening, weather permitting.

Fireworks at the Fort 1 November, from 4pm (display at 6.30pm) Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend Hundreds of spectators will gather at the annual Segedunum fireworks display. As well as the firework extravaganza, visitors can explore the museum for free. In the event of poor weather conditions the display may be cancelled or rearranged. Tynemouth Fireworks and Bonfire 3 November, from 5pm (display at 7pm) Tynemouth Cricket Club Annual family event with rides and refreshments. Santa and Reindeer Parade 17 November, 12noon Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields This popular, annual event will see Santa arriving with his reindeer in a fantastic parade and then with the help of his elves opens the grotto for visitors. Green Beans Christmas Market 25 November, 10am - 3pm Whitley Bay Metro Station A range of stalls selling art, crafts, gifts, food and wellbeing products. There will be a range of activities for children and live entertainment from Bay Uke. The event is organised by the Green Beans Market in conjunction with Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade. Whitley Lodge Christmas Tree Lighting 28 November, from 3.30pm All are welcome to enjoy the Christmas fun including carols from Whitley Lodge First School, a tree lighting ceremony, stalls, facepainting, special characters and a visit from Santa. Whitley Bay will welcome a range of stallholders who will be selling traditional gifts and produce, to complement the celebration of the feast of St Nicholas. The annual lantern parade will start at 4.15pm on the Friday at Marine Park First School, leading to Marine Avenue before heading along Park View and finishing at St Paul’s Church. Whitley Women will be joining the festivities and performing Christmas carols along Park View on the Friday between 4.15pm and 4.45pm and along Whitley Road on the Saturday from 11am. Tyneside Winter Wonderland 30 November - 2 December Linskill Centre, North Shields Back for a third year, entertainment includes; Santa’s Grotto and Elves’ Workshop, Festive Farmyard and a Yuletide Tipi with mulled wine and music. Park View Santa’s Grotto 1, 8, 15, 20, 21, 22 December 10.30am – 12.45pm and 1.15pm - 3.30pm Park View Shopping Centre, Whitley Bay Shoppers can get in the Christmas spirit and visit Santa on selected days throughout December. These events are organised by the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay who will be raising funds for local causes. 9

Cullercoats Community Advent 1 – 30 December Throughout December, residents and businesses in Cullercoats will host festive window or garden displays. Each evening a new display will be illuminated and revealed in the style of a ‘living’ advent calendar. The displays will be lit up from 5.30pm until 9pm each evening, gradually forming a yuletide trail, with images to spot and record. The trail is open for everyone to enjoy.
