Season’s Greetings A very warm welcome to the North Tyneside Winter Festival. This is always a special time of year and there’s lots going on for people to enjoy. There’s a packed programme of events from November until January, including brilliant pantomimes, popular Christmas markets and of course, Santa will be as busy as ever visiting grottos all over the borough.

Fireworks Display 6 November The Links, Whitley Bay Come along and join thousands of people as they gather at the coast for the annual fireworks display on Sunday 6 November. There will be fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm, with the main display starting at 7pm. As the event attracts around 10,000 people, anyone driving to the event is advised to arrive early and expect short delays as the area clears afterwards. In the event of poor weather conditions the display will take place on the next available evening, weather permitting.

More fireworks displays! 3 November Segedunum Fireworks! Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend Come along for the annual free display at Segedunum where entry into the museum is also free of charge! Doors open at 4pm and the display starts at 6.30pm. For further information call 0191 278 4217.

North Tyneside Christmas Lights Switch On 18 November 4pm start with switch on at 5.30pm Whitley Road, Whitley Bay Join us for the annual switch on of the winning light design chosen from dozens of entries from local schoolchildren. Winter Festival
18-19 November Whitley Bay Town Centre
Whitley Bay will welcome a range of stallholders who will be selling traditional gifts and produce. There will be entertainment including real reindeer (Saturday only), carol singing and the annual parade at 4pm on the Friday. St. Paul’s Church will be holding their annual fair on the Saturday between 10am and 2pm. There will be princesses, a cake stall, crafts and a raffle. Santa and Reindeer Parade 19 November, 12noon Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields This popular annual event will see Santa arriving with his reindeer in a fantastic parade and then, with the help of his elves, open the grotto for visitors. Cullercoats Community Advent 1 - 30 December Throughout December, Cullercoats residents and businesses will host festive window or garden displays. Each evening a new display will be illuminated and revealed in the style of a ‘living’ advent calendar. The displays will be lit up 6pm - 9pm each evening, gradually forming a yuletide trail.
