Season’s Greetings Welcome to the North Tyneside Winter Festival. From early November until January 2020, there’s a packed programme of festive events taking place across the borough. There will be lots to see and do including firework displays, events in our parks, Christmas markets, pantomimes, light switch-ons and so much more. DISPLAY 3 November, from 6pm The Links, Whitley Bay This annual event sees thousands of people turn out for a spectacular fireworks display along the coast. There will be fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm, with the main display starting at around 7pm. In the event of poor weather conditions the display will take place on the next available evening, weather permitting.

Fireworks at the Fort 5 November, from 4pm (display at 6.30pm) Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend Hundreds of spectators will gather at the annual Segedunum fireworks extravaganza. Visitors can explore the museum for free and get crafty in the galleries with free drop-in activities. In the event of poor weather conditions the display may be cancelled or rearranged. Blue Flames Annual Fireworks Display 5 November, gates open at 5pm (display starts at 7pm) Blue Flames Conference and Leisure Centre, Benton A family event with fairground rides, stalls and food. Park View Shopping Centre, Whitley Bay Shoppers can get in the Christmas spirit and visit Santa on selected days throughout December. These events are organised by the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay who will be raising funds for local causes.

Cullercoats Community Advent 1 – 30 December Throughout December, residents and businesses in Cullercoats will host festive window or garden displays. Each evening a new display will be illuminated and revealed in the style of a ‘living’ advent calendar. The displays will be lit up from 5.30pm until 9pm each evening gradually forming a yuletide trail, with images to spot and record. The trail is open for everyone to enjoy. Discover simple steps to look after your mental health Every Mind Matters is a new national campaign from Public Health England which aims to encourage adults to be more aware of their mental health and discover simple steps to look after their mental health and wellbeing. There are lots of easy and free things to do in North Tyneside that can really help to give you a boost – being more active, spending time outdoors, discovering culture on your doorstep and making time to connect with other people.
