A packed programme of free events will return to Tynemouth Station again this summer. Fun and interactive sessions for under-fives will take place between 10am – 10.45am and 11.15am to 12noon. Places are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. People are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Children must be accompanied at all times by parents/carers. Please note: no more than two children to one adult per session. Monday 24 July

Startastic Tots A fun, creative and inventive dance class, linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage. Tuesday 25 July

ARTventurers: Jungle Fun! Join in and go deep into the jungle for lots of arty fun including painting, modelling and creating as well as singing and dancing too. Suitable for 6 months upwards. Wednesday 26 July

Olympian Mini Stars A fun sports class for 2 – 4 year olds, where basic skills are taught and incorporated in many activities including obstacle courses, football, bat and ball, hurdles, parachute fun and more. Thursday 27 July

Startastic Ballerinas A fun introduction to ballet with props. Children can use their imagination, be creative and enjoy dance while learning the ballet basics. Friday 28 July

Street Crew Tots A fun street dance class with lots of super cool moves!

Live trad and lounge jazz performances between 1pm and 4pm. Seating is provided and refreshments are available from businesses at the station, so come along, sit back for a few hours and enjoy the music.

Monday 31 July

The Vieux Carre Jazzmen 6-piece band founded in 1954 by Peter Deuchar, grandson of the brewery magnate James Deuchar. With a wide repertoire of popular songs, the whole spectrum of traditional jazz is covered. Tuesday 1 August

Broadway Melody The 6-piece band will be playing a wide range of music from New Orleans, classic and mainstream jazz and swing. Wednesday 2 August

Maine Street Jazzmen A dedicated team of musicians who play an exciting brand of Dixieland jazz, drawing influences not only from classic American jazz groups but British bands too. Thursday 3 August

Rendezvous Jazz This popular 6-piece has a wide repertoire including traditional, New Orleans and Dixieland Jazz, as well as blues and ballads. Friday 4 August

Mississippi Dreamboats Rooted in the New Orleans style of jazz, the band was formed by musicians who are inspired by the good time bands of the 40s, 50s and 60s. 10

Tales of the Sea and a Sea of Tails Join award-winning storyteller Tony Wilson as he tells stories from around the world about the sea and animals. You'll hear about a Chinese wishing fish, a German king, a lying Indian tiger, an African snake boy and a tricked crocodile. Stories are complemented with music. Children can also help to make up an original story on the spot. Suitable for all ages. Thursday 31 August, 10am - 1pm

Pirates and Mermaids Captain Raggy Beard has set sail on his ship and will be stopping by the station to tell tales of pirates and mermaids. He’s got some great games for all the family as well. Suitable for ages 3 to 12 years. Friday 1 September, 10am - 1pm

Dragons and Fairy Tales The Captain will return to the station once more to captivate his audience with stories about dragons and fairy tales. It will be so enchanting, you’ll want to listen over and over again. Suitable for ages 3 to 12 years. 13

1 July – Wallsend Town Centre 2 July – The Green and Wallsend Parks Saturday sees the town centre packed with a funfair, classic cars, live music, stalls and lots of activities in the Customer First Centre. On the Sunday, Wallsend Parks and Wallsend Hall team up again to deliver Go Wild. The 3SIXTY Bicycle Stunt Team will return with various displays and there will also be live music, a fairground, street theatre and a climbing wall.

LIBRARIES AND CUSTOMER FIRST CENTRES The Reading Agency and libraries are delighted to present the 2017 Summer Reading Challenge, Animal Agents - a whole host of clever creatures, ready to solve all kinds of crimes! This band of furry, slippery and feathered friends is specially trained to use their skills and natural instincts to unravel mysteries – with a huge helping of fun along the way. From solving the case of the graffiti writing to the strange case of a missing lunch, join in the fun with the Animal Agents by reading along. As you read library books you’ll receive stickers, some with mysterious smells. By collecting the stickers on your collector folder, you will help the Animal Agents find out what’s really been going on behind the scenes and who is to blame. Solve the mystery and collect a medal at a ceremony with celebration parties, magicians and special visits from surprise guests. There will be lots of fun events and things to do over the holidays too including; meet the author Chloe Daykin, animal handling with Lion Learners and Animal Antics, Big Bang Science plus lots of great hands on craft activities.
