Mouth of the Tyne Festival 2026

Page 1

This year is extra special as we celebrate the festival’s 21st anniversary - we’ve got a fantastic programme lined up to mark the occasion.

From spectacular live music concerts in the stunning setting of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, to free family street entertainment, a silent disco, live jazz, and the much loved pageant featuring local schoolchildren and community groups, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

There’s always a wonderful buzz along our beautiful coastline during the festival. Whether you’re a local resident or visiting North Tyneside for the first time, I encourage you to make the most of your time here by exploring our brilliant independent businesses, attractions, restaurants and, of course, our award winning beaches.

Whatever you choose to see and do, I hope the Mouth of the Tyne Festival brings memorable moments and a warm North Tyneside welcome.

TYNEMOUTH PRIORY AND CASTLE

FOOD AND DRINK FOOD AND DRINK

Some of the region’s best street food will be at this year’s festival.

There will also be a festival bar with beers, wine, prosecco and soft drinks.

Concert attendees can bring their own food and drink in reasonable quantities but no glass is allowed.

STREET ENTERTAINMENT

Belladonna and her Venus Flytraps

Meet Belladonna, the beautiful but deadly gardener, as she tries to catch a tasty morsel for her hungry Venus Flytraps. Is your hand steady enough that you dare to feed the flytraps yourself? Or will you help Aristotle the batty bluebottle to escape from their deadly clutches?

Carnotaurus

Dash is a bull-headed Carnotaurus and very hard to keep under control. He has a mind of his own and is one of the more difficult dinosaurs to train. Whilst our Carnotaurus isn’t the most obedient of ride-on dinosaurs, he has had months of training, but he often misunderstands directions!

The Butterfly Collection

What could be more festive, miraculous or memorable than the arrival of a giant flock of butterflies? The Butterflies spread the philosophy that no-one has to do things… it is perfectly adequate to simply float about being beautiful perhaps sipping some nectar.

Felicity Footloose

Packed with acrobatics, juggling and audience participation. Her show builds to a breathtaking finale, juggling three razor-sharp knives while hanging upside down by her feet, a stunt reportedly performed by no one else in the world.

Jack Wise

A ‘Modern Day Vaudevillian’ combining magic and ventriloquism. The quick-witted Irish charm and relentless audience interaction make every performance feel unique. Highlights include turning a volunteer into a life-size ventriloquist puppet, swallowing a 24-inch steel sword and performing close-up card magic.

Bubble Cirkus

A high-energy show where the audience can expect to be involved, amazed and amused in their search for virtuosity in circus techniques.

Lifeguards

A comedy street theatre act who patrol events from high-chairs armed with megaphones, whistles, and flip flops. Watch out for their stretching routines!

Human Hedges

A unique walkabout act in topiary costumes inspired by classic fairy stories. They operate as living statues, standing perfectly still. Or do they?

Bumbulum the Fool

A comedy street clown combining juggling, unicycling and laugh-outloud moments.

Comedy Waiters

This dinner service delight combines silent comedy and graceful slapstick. Beginning with the odd plate flip or sculpted napkin until, with a flick of their bow-ties, our undercover comedians reveal their true colours.

Football Crazy

Welcome to the world’s only mobile football stadium, complete with referee and commentator. One a side football just got serious. As the pitch moves around the streets the stadium sound system plays all your favourite football tunes.

Rob Roy Collins

Rob Roy Collins is a Guinness World Record-holding escapologist who has beaten Houdini's own time for upside-down straitjacket escapes.

The Maniax

A fast paced comedy show with plenty of shenanigans and gags. Watch in awe (and participate too) as a spectacle of chains, padlocks and stunts unfold before your very eyes.

Out of the Deep Blue

A moving tale about our earth's climate emergency told through dance, movement and masterful puppeteering.

Football Freestyler

Spectacular freestyle performances from one of the UK's leading pro football freestylers. Get involved and learn some new skills!

Dr Pandemonious Fish

A bumbling Victorian gent and a highly skilled buffoon of a man. Dr Fish entertains with his combination of cunning circus tricks and preposterously pompous clowning featuring hat manipulation, ball juggling and rubber chicken taming.

Professor David Reakes

Listen along and join in as The Professor weaves his stories around you which he has gleaned from his travels around the globe. But bewareyou may end up telling a joke, howling like a wolf or turning into a cake!

The Curious Deceptions of Mr Rea

Wonderful wizardry and bamboozling bafflement for all the family, delivered by a charming charlatan of the dark arts – remember to count your fingers as you leave!

Rock Choir

A spectacular display of uplifting, feel-good pop, rock and contemporary chart songs performed by the North East Rock Choir.
