Take Me to the River

The Lackawanna River is a tremendous asset to Lackawanna County, providing people with endless recreational opportunities.

This year, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has recognized the Lackawanna with their prestigious River of the Year award.

Whether you enjoy paddling your kayak, angling for a trophy trout, or having a relaxing picnic with Mother Nature, the Lackawanna River is ideal for a memorable summer adventure. Enjoy the Lackawanna via multiple access points throughout Lackawanna County.

Thanks to the diligent work of the Lackawanna River Conservation Association (LRCA), the River is immaculately clean. They are always working on enhancements to the

River, the River trails, its access points, and watersheds. Not only does the LRCA do a fantastic job preserving the Lackawanna River, but they also throw one heck of a party. LRCA events are a wonderful way to enjoy all the Lackawanna River has to offer.

In addition to their signature annual events, RiverFest and ShiverFest, you won’t want to miss this year’s added celebrations for PA’s River of the Year.

THE PAVILION SUMMER CONCERTS I love a good outdoor concert, but there’s something about the natural acoustics that the mountain offers that makes the shows at The Pavilion the absolute best! There’s not a bad seat in the house.

Stretching more than 70 miles, located amid the mountains and along the Lackawanna River, this trail is an artery that connects more than 30 communities through Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties.

TAKE A RIDE The trail is bicycle friendly, so take a leisurely ride or work up a sweat in beautiful surroundings.

RIVER ACCESS Sections of the trail, municipal parks, and green spaces provide easy access to fly fishing and kayaking along the Lackawanna River.
