Must-Do Moments

Whatever your travel style — high-octane with friends, low-key with family, or unapologetically romantic — Los Cabos serves up can’t-miss experiences that feel designed just for you. From sea-glass coves and desert trails to gallery nights and chef-driven tables, here’s how to make the most of the tip of Baja.

The Sea Is Calling

» Dive a living aquarium. Slip into the Sea of Cortés at Chileno Bay or make the pilgrimage to Cabo Pulmo National Park, home to one of North America’s most successful reef restorations. Expect schools of sergeant majors, curious puffer fish and, with luck, rays gliding past coral heads. Pro tip: Morning seas are typically calmer with better visibility.

READY FOR REELS, ROMANCE, OR PURE RESET? FOLLOW OUR INSIDER ROUTE TO LOS CABOS’ BEST EXPERIENCES.

» Follow the giants. January through March, humpbacks migrate along the coast, turning the horizon into a stage of breaches and tail slaps. You can spot them from shore, but a guided outing ups your odds and offers expert narration.

Pro tip: Bring a windbreaker; breezes are real out on the Pacific side.

Slow the Pace

» Sunset by El Arco. Board a late-day cruise to watch the sky fire up behind El Arco, the iconic rock arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortés. Have your camera ready for the picture-perfect moments that will leave you in awe. These are the memories you will treasure long after your trip has come to an end.

Pro tip: Golden hour sells out; reserve ahead, especially on weekends.

» Desert by camel. Add a little storybook to your getaway with a gentle camel trek across

empty dunes and wave-washed beaches. It’s quiet, cinematic and surprisingly intimate — just hooves, horizon, and you.

Pro tip: Request a sunset slot for soft light (and photos you’ll actually print).

Adrenaline Rush

» Fish the “Marlin Capital of the World.” Los Cabos’ deep blue is legendary for billfish, along with yellowfin tuna, dorado, and snapper. Whether it’s your first charter or your fiftieth, the adrenaline hits when the reel sings; and a fishing charter here promises an exhilarating experience.

Pro tip: Check with your captain about seasonal runs and catch-and-release best practices.

LOS CABOS IS BUILT FOR UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES — WHETHER YOU COME FOR NATURE, ADRENALINE, CULTURE, CUISINE, OR SIMPLY THE FEELING OF BEING FAR FROM ORDINARY.

» ATVs in the desert. Trade flip-flops for a helmet and roll into Baja’s wild side. Guided ATV tours weave through arroyos, cacti forests, and ridgelines with sweeping sea views and breathtaking natural beauty.

Pro tip: Closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, and a buff for dust will make you very happy.

Leisurely Pursuits

» Golf with a sea breeze. This is bucket-list golf country, with championship courses carved into cliffs and dunes and fairways that unfurl against the stunning backdrop of the Sea of Cortés. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned player, Los Cabos is a golfer’s paradise. Even a bogey looks good with views like these.

Pro tip: Early tee times mean cooler temps and quieter greens.

» Shop small, shop chic. Wander San José del Cabo’s cobblestoned streets for artisan ceramics, hand-loomed textiles, and contemporary galleries. Pop into Plaza Artesanos or The Shoppes at Palmilla for curated fashion and fine jewelry. Resort boutiques are great for last-minute resort wear, too.

Pro tip: Many galleries stay open late on Art Walk nights.

Galleries and Good Times

» Gallery District, after dark. From November to June, San José del Cabo hosts a weekly Art Walk, when doors swing open, artists pour

wine, and music spills into the streets. It’s part exhibition, part neighborhood party. Cap the night with dinner nearby — lots of spots add live entertainment to the mix, completing your evening with a taste of local culture.

Pro tip: Arrive right at start time to chat with artists before crowds swell.

» Turn up the music. From barefoot sets at beach bars to ticketed festivals, the region’s soundtrack blends traditional Baja music, Latin rhythms, and modern beats. The lively music scene captures the spirit of Los Cabos.

Pro tip: Ask your concierge or check local listings for who’s playing where during your stay.

Savor the Flavors

» Farm to table, Baja-style. The foothills north of José del Cabo hide eco-farms and ranches that celebrate seasonal ingredients and wood-fired cooking. Expect heirloom tomatoes, just-picked herbs, and menus that change with the harvest.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES

Los Cabos’ star power goes beyond sunsets. The destination consistently earns nods from leading travel authorities for its luxury hospitality, world-class golf, natural beauty, and culinary scene. Top resorts, championship courses, and conservation wins (including Cabo Pulmo’s reef revival) have all drawn international attention. From being named to Tripadvisor’s prestigious Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2025 to making the New York Times’ coveted list of the 52 Places to Go in 2025, these honors reflect what visitors feel when they arrive: This place is truly special.

Sustainability isn’t a buzzword here — it’s a way of life that offers a fresh, flavorful taste of Baja’s agricultural bounty.

Pro tip: Book well in advance; weekend seats tend to fill up fast.

» The fish taco you’ll dream about. Crisp, fresh, and mouthwatering, Baja-style fish tacos are a rite of passage. Local favorites include La Lupita and 7 Seas Seafood Grille in San José del Cabo and Captain Tony’s in Cabo San Lucas. Once you’ve tasted these perfectly prepared fish tacos that capture the essence of the Baja coastline in every bite, you’ll be eager to return for more.

Pro tip: Add a squeeze of lime and a pinch of sea salt before any salsa — it brightens everything.

Build Your Perfect Day

» Rise with the sea. Start with a sunrise stroll when beaches are quiet, and pelicans skim the water.

WHATEVER YOUR TRAVEL STYLE, LOS CABOS SERVES UP CAN’T-MISS EXPERIENCES THAT FEEL DESIGNED JUST FOR YOU.

» Choose your headline moment. Morning reef snorkel, midday spa and pool, or a desert ATV blast — there’s room for every mood.

» Save something for sunset. A sail to El Arco, a terrace table in San José del Cabo, or toes-in-the-sand tacos as the sky goes coral.

» Repeat as needed. Los Cabos rewards both planners and wanderers. Mix marquee moments with simple pleasures and you’ll leave already plotting your return.

Los Cabos is built for unforgettable experiences — whether you come for nature, adrenaline, culture, cuisine, or simply the feeling of being far from ordinary.

STAR POWER in Baja

Celebrities love Los Cabos for good reason — privacy, scenery, and best-in-class venues. From wedding vows to milestone parties, the tip of the peninsula keeps drawing A-listers back.

When Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine married

Victoria’s Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo in July 2014, the couple opted for rustic chic over beach casual.

Set in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains just north of San José del Cabo, the 25-acre organic Flora Farms was the perfect match for their taste. The team transformed the grounds into a garden oasis with lush greenery, twinkling lights, and wide-angle views of the countryside. After saying “I do” in the open-air chapel, the newlyweds hosted a reception in a beautifully dressed barn, serving a custom farm-to-table menu with organic ingredients harvested from the surrounding fields.

The guest list was equally starry. Jonah Hill — who also officiated— joined Jason Segel, Robert Downey Jr., Levine’s Maroon 5 bandmates, and the bride’s Victoria’s Secret friends who stood up as bridesmaids. As icing on the cake, former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks flew in to perform “Leather and Lace” with the groom.

A decade later, in July 2024, Adam and Behati returned to Flora Farms to toast their 10-year anniversary, this time with three kids and a circle of family and friends.

More recently, at the tip of the Baja, singer and actor Selena Gomez marked her Cabo San Lucas bachelorette getaway in style before marrying longtime love Benny Blanco. She shared photos of the festivities on Instagram.

Of course, Los Cabos’ celebrity story started long before social media. In the 1950s and 1960s, Hollywood icons and power players helped put the region on the map — think John Wayne and Bing Crosby flying in to fish the rich waters, Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball escaping to the quiet beaches, and even visits from figures like President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Those early glamour years contributed to Los Cabos becoming a discreet luxury hideaway.

They’re in good company today. Over the years, Los Cabos has welcomed a who’s who of regulars and homeowners, including George Clooney, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, Chris Hemsworth, the KardashianJenner family, and many more.

WORLD-CLASS COURSES MEET THE SERENE SEA OF CORTÉS ON LOS CABOS’ STUNNING GREENS.

The last new golf course opening in greater Los Cabos took place in 2019 when the Costa Palmas Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, opened in the East Cape. However, that extended drought is about to change, as 3 new courses are scheduled to open in 2026, joining the 18 fabulous tracks already available.

The concept for the Legacy Club is a course that transports golfers from the open desert landscape of Southern Baja into a new, secluded environment of lush vegetation — truly an oasis amid the desert. The existing gently sloped desert terrain will be transformed into a strategic, dramatic golf course complete with a backdrop of rolling green hills and

rich, verdant landscaping. This garden environment will be truly unique for a coastal desert region, carrying golfers to vistas of unrivaled beauty.

The Legacy Club, a Tiger Woods design, will be a private course, with membership capped at 250 lucky golfers. It will open at year’s end at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.

Along with new ownership at Querencia, a private golf and beach club in San José del Cabo, a second golf course is currently under construction and scheduled to open in late 2026. The new track will be called Campo Alto (“high field” in Spanish) due to its canyon holes and higher ground, while the Querencia course, which opened in 2000, will now be known as Campo Bajo (“low field”). Campo Alto will feature

undulating terrain and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.

Lastly, the much-anticipated opening of PGA professional/golf course designer Ernie Els’s Oleada Golf Links is soon to become a reality. On his website, Els says, “We’re so excited for the grand opening next year (2026).” Nestled along a pristine

mile-long stretch of golden-sand beach, Oleada Pacific Living & Golf is located just 15 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Award-Winning Greens

Each year, Golfweek magazine selects its top 50 courses in Mexico, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands, and Central America.

THE ANNUAL WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY CHAMPIONSHIP BROUGHT THE WORLD’S BEST PGA TOUR PLAYERS TO LOS CABOS, PROVIDING A WEEK OF ENTERTAINMENT, WORLD-CLASS GOLF, AND ENJOYABLE ACTIVITIES.

In its 2025 list, a dozen Los Cabos–area tracks were selected as part of that coveted lineup. Included are the following: Diamante Cabo San Lucas (Dunes) at No. 5; Chileno Bay, T12; Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course), T12; Querencia, No.14; El Dorado Golf & Beach Club, No. 19; Solmar Golf Links, No. 20; Twin Dolphin, No. 21; Diamante Cabo San Lucas (El Cardonal), No. 31; Quivira, No. 37; Costa Palmas, No. 42; Puerto Los Cabos (Norman & Nicklaus), No. 44; and Cabo del Sol, T45.

In Golf Digest’s latest listing of its top 100 courses across the globe, two Los Cabos tracks made the list.

Coming in at No. 47 was Diamante Golf Club (Dunes). Designed by Davis Love III, this course is considered Mexico’s first true links course. Davis’s design team included his brother, Mark Love, and designer Paul Cowley. The judges gave special praise to the holes hugging the Pacific Ocean, while the second nine are adjacent to the ocean, with the tallest dunes doing their part to disrupt and challenge golfers. No other links in the world sport cactus!

Also included was the Jack Nicklaus–designed Cabo del Sol (Cove Club, formerly the Ocean Course), making the cut right at No. 100. Not only is this dramatic location easy on the eyes, but the Cove Club course also instills a luxurious, laid-back vibe throughout the entire golf experience.

Championship Moments

Los Cabos hosts some premier golf showdowns. El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas hosted the annual World Wide Technology Championship in November 2025. This championship brought the world’s best PGA TOUR players to Los Cabos, providing a week of entertainment, worldclass golf, and enjoyable activities for the entire family. At the 2024 event, 132 professional golfers came to tee it up.

The beloved annual Los Cabos Golf Pro-Am tournament takes place just after the new year. Set for January 11–15, 2026, Pueblo Bonito Pacífica Golf & Spa Resort will serve as the host hotel. The “Best Ball” event will take place at three fabulous courses, including the Cabo del Sol Golf Club, Solmar Golf Links at Rancho San Lucas, and Quivira Golf Club.

Founded in 2010, the annual Cabo Collegiate Golf Tournament will be held March 1–3, 2026, at the Twin Dolphin Club. The tournament includes golfers from 14 U.S. colleges. Past individual participants have included

current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Ludvig Åberg, and Will Zalatoris, to name just a few.

Fairway Feasts

In Los Cabos, the best golfing experiences usually include a memorable meal to be enjoyed at the turn. Many courses in this picturesque region have transformed routine breaks into gourmet experiences with their exceptional comfort stations often serving up delectable Mexican cuisine.

Redefining on-course cuisine is Questro Golf. Here, culinary palapas situated at each of the three golf courses offer all-inclusive food and drink, and guests are welcome to visit these stations four times during their round. Each palapa is staffed with a bartender and a chef, and the food menu

changes every two weeks to keep the experience fresh and unique every time. Cabo San Lucas Country Club has been a favorite destination for many over the years. This top-tier track is well known for its

fabulous golf course as well as its outdoor Viva Restaurant. Whether you’re craving a succulent rib-eye steak or sumptuous jumbo shrimp, dining here is an experience in itself. Amid live music and the backdrop of nighttime driving range activities, diners can enjoy their feast with their favorite beverage in hand — all while witnessing friends and families honing their skills under shimmering lights.

CABO DEL SOL — COVE CLUB COURSE

DIAMANTE CABO SAN LUCAS — DUNES COURSE

When he first saw the Dunes Course, designer Davis Love III said, “It was like pulling up to St. Andrews.” Golf on the Dunes does share some similarities with the classic links courses in Scotland and Ireland — but here, the weather is warmer, the sand is whiter, and the sea is bluer. The par-72, 7,022-yard Dunes Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas is marked by magnificent fairways, tees, and greens carved right into sand dunes high above the Pacific Ocean. diamantecabosanlucas.com

DIAMANTE CABO SAN LUCAS — EL CARDONAL

The 18-hole championship course at El Cardonal marked Tiger Woods’s architectural debut. With dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean and natural arroyos, mature vegetation, and native dunes, this par-72 course measures 7,363 yards. Thanks to its prime location, the course offers spectacular scenery as it winds through desert landscapes featuring colorful canyons and arroyos. Stretching to 7,242 yards, this par-72, 18-hole track will remain etched in your memory forever. The course at El Dorado offers an unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to play it. eldoradobeachclub.com

PALMILLA GOLF CLUB

Palmilla Golf Club was the first major course built in Los Cabos, opening in 1992. Famous for its 27 holes, many of which feature spectacular views of the Sea of Cortés, Palmilla was also Jack Nicklaus’s first designed course in Latin America. With three distinctive nines — named Arroyo, Mountain, and Ocean — the course gently guides golfers through 800 vertical feet of inspiring Baja California Sur terrain. palmillagc.com

QUERENCIA GOLF CLUB

One of Mexico’s premier private clubs, this Tom Fazio–designed course is now under new ownership. While its name has also been changed (now called Campo Bajo, Spanish for “low field”), the course is still renowned for its multitiered greens and challenging play across steep hills and bluffs. Several holes even skirt the edges of deep canyons and rocky arroyos. Its 18 holes span more than 300 beautifully manicured acres, and the par-72 course stretches to 7,342 yards. qcabo.com/querencia-golf/

QUESTRO GOLF

One of the pillars of Los Cabos golf, Questro Golf features three stellar tracks designed by some of the world’s best golf course architects. These must-play courses in the Questro portfolio include Cabo Real Golf Club, Club Campestre San José Golf, and Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club.questrogolf.com

CABO REAL GOLF CLUB

Measuring 6,848 yards from the championship tees, this magnificently designed par-71 course features 3.2 miles of beachfront property. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Cabo Real Golf Club offers a multi-themed, target-style course. With breathtaking holes chiseled into desert foothills at the foot of rugged mountain peaks, Cabo Real’s longer back nine presents a great test for ambitious golfers. Freeform bunkers and small elevated greens combine with fairways that play along ridgetops to provide an expansive feel. questrogolf.com

CLUB CAMPESTRE SAN JOSÉ

Club Campestre is a spectacular par-71 track with an expanse of 7,055 yards. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, it is the centerpiece of the 550-acre Club Campestre San José community. The 18-hole course is set along the rolling foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, boasting spectacular views from every hole. questrogolf.com

PUERTO LOS CABOS GOLF CLUB

The third track in Questro Golf’s trifecta, Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club, features a unique total of 27 holes: Jack Nicklaus designed two tracks, while Greg Norman built the third 9-hole course. Bunkers and dramatic elevation changes mark the recent additions made by Nicklaus. On this unique green, golfers can play the course in any combination. The par-72 Ocean-Vista combination measures 7,199 yards; the par-72 Vista-Mission combination stretches to 7,213 yards; and the par-72 Mission-Ocean combination is 7,166 yards. Future plans call for Puerto Los Cabos to offer two separate 18-hole courses as well. questrogolf.com

QUIVIRA GOLF CLUB

Upon opening in 2014, Quivira Golf Club quickly established itself as one of the best new courses in the world over. Its dazzling 7,085-yard layout recently made Golfweek magazine’s annual selection of the top 50 courses in

Mexico, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands, and Central America, coming in at number 37. This stunning par-72, 18-hole course is set along massive sand dunes, rugged cliffs, and white-sand beaches. With views of the Pacific Ocean from all 18 holes, Quivira offers more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos.

SOLMAR GOLF LINKS

The centerpiece of an 834-acre community set on the Pacific Ocean, the Greg Norman Signature Solmar Golf Links opened in 2020. Known for his “least-disturbance” design approach, the 18-hole course features a low-profile layout that left the site’s existing contours intact and offers sweeping ocean views from every hole. The result is a 7,240-yard, par-72 course that spans three separate ecosystems: across windswept dunes, up through a cactus forest, and then back toward the sea on the back nine. Norman also integrated indigenous grass varietals into his design that require the least amount of water, building an eco-friendly experience that flows naturally with the landscape. The rancho-style clubhouse is perched high above the ocean, commanding dramatic views, and even features a putting green overlooking the fairways and sea. solmargolf.com

TWIN DOLPHIN GOLF CLUB

You have to love a course that bills itself as “championship golf for the everyday player.” Twin Dolphin Golf Club rises more than 590 feet above sea level and boasts a naturalistic layout that features sweeping views of the Sea of Cortés from every hole. Course architect and PGA Hall of Fame inductee Fred Couples worked on the course’s routing and strategic design along with Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design to make it “a course that all players can enjoy.” The par-72, 18-hole course measures 7,156 yards, and there is also a kids’ course: a par-71, 18-hole course that measures 2,300 yards. Players can experience both dinner and night golf at the practice tee as well. As expected, there are no tee times at Twin Dolphin — just Cabo time! twindolphinloscabos.com/golf

VIDANTA GOLF

Last but not least, one of the most enjoyable golf outings in Los Cabos is the par-35, ninehole course at Vidanta Golf in San José del Cabo. The course is semiflat and measures 3,153 yards, but don’t be fooled by the modest measurements — they present quite a few challenging holes, including one lake and 32 bunkers. The Course at Vidanta Los Cabos, as it’s officially known, is the oldest course in Los Cabos and widely considered one of its best values. vidantagolf.com

FUN FACT

Fonatur was the tourism promotion branch of the Mexican government. The first Fonatur director, Don Antonio Enriquez Savignac, asked architect Joe Finger and landscape designer Mario Schjetnan to create the first golf project in Los Cabos. Built in 1987, this project was initially called “San José del Cabo golf club” and later “the Mayan Palace golf course.”

Today, that track is known as Vidanta Golf Club.

The Art of the Catch

At some point in their journey, anglers with aspirations of traveling the globe in search of the catch of a lifetime inevitably land in Los Cabos. Legendary writers such as Zane Grey, Ernest Hemingway, and John Steinbeck all flocked to these fruitful waters over the past century, knowing they would have not only tales of the high seas

to tell but also bountiful catches of high-flying marlin, brilliant mahimahi, and big-shouldered grouper and snapper to bring back to dock and write stories of legend.

But fear not — you don’t need to be a literary legend or even a tournament pro to experience the bountiful array of fish available in this angler’s paradise. In fact, it’s quite easy, as myriad sportfishing

charters run daily trips out to the fishing grounds to ply the waters! Whether it’s a simple 4-hour trip on the inshore grounds or a 12-hour trip offshore, you’re

guaranteed to come back to dock with a meal fit for a king and stories to last a lifetime. Here’s how to make the most of your fishing adventure.

BOTTOM FISHING REIGNS SUPREME HERE. BOATS RUN ANYWHERE FROM A FEW HUNDRED YARDS TO A MILE OFF THE COAST.

Close to Shore

Tourists often love the option to fish inshore, as you can leave dock in the morning and be back in time for drinks at noon. The two main areas for inshore fishing are along the East Cape in the Sea of Cortés and along the Los Cabos waterfront right off El Arco, allowing you to catch fish within sight of the front door of your hotel.

Bottom fishing reigns supreme here. Boats run anywhere from a few hundred yards to a mile off the coast to target snapper species, grouper, jacks, cabrilla, and other bottom

beasties that will bend a rod and give your arms a solid workout! Chunk sardine baits are the main method for tackling the bottom dwellers off the submarine rock piles.

Flashy speed demons are also available, such as cero mackerel, Sierra mackerel, and rainbow runners; and these fishing boats will set out a trolling spread with metal lures and deep-diving plugs to tempt a strike as they zip lines off the reels. The most sought-after inshore species, however — bar none — is the atavistic roosterfish, aka El Gallo, with its coxcomb fins breaching the water as they pursue your lures to hit you with punishing strikes and arm-wrenching battles.

Most inshore species are available yearround, so there’s no need to worry about when you book your trip. There’s always something biting!

Going Deep

The offshore grounds can span from a 5- to 40-mile run offshore, depending on your target species; and rest assured, there’s no lack of world-class fishing to be had. Known as the “Marlin Capital of the World,” Los Cabos is the premier destination anglers look to check a “striper” off their list, as it’s a near guarantee to find the wild billfish in the deep offshore waters. Amid all the striped marlin, there are other species as well, such as blue and black marlin, that can reach upwards of 500 pounds. Some on record have reached nearly 1,000 pounds, if you’re lucky and willing to go mano a mano with the gladiators.

Marlin charters are fully equipped with the proper rods, reels, and lures to ensure you have all the top-of-the-line gear to make your catch a reality. Most boats will troll spreader

bars, ballyhoo baits, and live-line sardines. Prime billfish season runs September to mid-March.

Other pelagic species attract major attention as well, including mahimahi — aka dolphinfish — where some of the largest specimens are caught right in Los Cabos, averaging 30 to 50 pounds with some pushing past the 60-pound mark. Dolphinfish are primarily found February through April for your best shot at a trophy catch.

Yellowfin tuna are also a main draw offshore. Some “Allison” yellowfin can reach up to 250 pounds, but they typically average in the 60- to 100-pound class. Trolling is again the preferred method to tangle with the tuna, with peak season being September through March. After a day of fishing, nothing compares to freshcaught sushi prepared by one of the many restaurants when you get back to dock.

SO MUCH MORE THAN CATCHING FISH

Charter Options for Every Angler

In Los Cabos, the Pisces Fleet makes it easy to achieve your piscatorial pursuits. As the main charter fleet in town, they are stocked with any size boat that fits your needs and desires. The easiest way to sample the fishing is by renting out one of the local panga boats at the marina. They offer four-hour half-day trips from 8 a.m. to noon, with prices ranging from $250 to $375. For an upgrade, standard sportfishing boats of 25 to 32

feet from the Pisces Fleet are available for half-day excursions priced between $450 and $900. Midsize vessels, ranging from 31 to 42 feet, operate from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., catering primarily to billfish and offshore tuna fishing, and are priced between $1,000 and $1,400. The more luxurious 48- to 80-foot sport yachts — equipped with toptier tackle and Seakeeper technology to ensure a steady journey — offer daylong charters spanning 30 to 60 miles and range from $3,000 to $6,000.

Elite anglers with a penchant for the best can charter the 80-foot Viking sportfishing marvels, with a full day’s fishing priced between $12,000 and $15,000. Don’t shy away from the price tag, though — if you go it alone, you can buy a “share” on a charter and pay a reduced rate, sharing the expenses with other like-minded anglers.

Seas the Day

Swimming, snorkeling, sand, and sun dominate many vacation agendas in Los Cabos. Given the spectacular beach choices at Land’s End, you don’t have to look very far to find the perfect beach for your itinerary. Whether you’re looking for the perfect place for swimming, surfing, snorkeling, or romantic solitude, there is a beach to accommodate your every desire.

To ensure that Los Cabos beaches and others around the world remain pristine and welcoming for generations to come, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) established the Blue Flag designation in 1987. In addition to beaches, FEE also certifies marinas and sustainable tourism boats across the globe. As a nonprofit organization, FEE measures their impact and contribution to the tourism, safety, security,

and sustainability of beaches and oceans worldwide while also promoting sustainable development through environmental education. In its latest update in 2025, FEE recognized 5,121 beaches, marinas, and tourism boats in 51 countries around the world for their excellent sustainable practices.

In Mexico, nearly a third of the 77 beaches that were granted the Blue Flag designation are located in Los Cabos. Since last year, two more Los Cabos beaches have been added to that coveted list, bringing the total to 27. Even better, all the Los Cabos beaches recognized in 2025 were awarded the same designation in 2026. While most are located in Cabo San Lucas, other Blue Flag beaches can be found in The Tourist Corridor that connects Cabo San Lucas to San José del Cabo as well as in the picturesque East Cape.

Greater Los Cabos beaches certified with the Blue Flag distinction include Acapulquito, Chileno, Corsario, El Surgidero, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos, Grand Velas Los Cabos, Hacienda, Las Viudas, Palmilla, Santa María, La Ribera, La Gaviota, Médano

Breathless, Médano Casa Dorada, Médano Club Cascadas de Baja, Médano ME Cabo, Médano Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, Médano Pueblo Bonito Rose, Médano Riu Palace Los Cabos, Médano Riu Palace Baja California, Médano Riu Santa Fe, Médano Villa Del Palmar, Médano Villa El Arco, Médano Villa La Estancia, Paradisus Los Cabos, Playa Corazon, Playa Paraíso Leoneros, and La Playa in San José del Cabo.

Blue Flag vs. White Flag?

Within the borders of Mexico, you will find a handful of beaches certified as “Platinum Beaches.” Through their certification created several years ago, the Instituto Mexicano de Normalización y Certificación (IMNC) administers rigorous standards for water quality, safety, and environmental education. In

IN MEXICO, NEARLY A THIRD OF THE 77 BEACHES THAT WERE GRANTED THE BLUE FLAG DESIGNATION ARE LOCATED IN LOS CABOS.

Los Cabos, prestigious beaches that meet those standards fly the White Flag designating their Platinum Beach status. Those select beaches include Acapulquito, Las Viudas, Palmilla, Chileno, and Santa María.

Cabo San Lucas

About half of those distinguished Blue Flag beaches can be found in Cabo San Lucas. Without question, Médano Beach, in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, is the most popular swimming beach in the area. Featuring numerous quality hotels, Médano’s two-mile stretch of beach includes soft sand, calm lapping waters, plentiful water sports, and endless breathtaking scenery both on and off the water.

A visit to Médano Beach wouldn’t be complete without stopping at the Mango Deck Beach Club. Featuring endless watersport activities, the Mango Deck is known for its daily menu that attracts hungry beachgoers from breakfast till dinner — and its all-day happy hour!

A calm early-morning stroll offers one of the best experiences on Médano Beach. Watching the sun rise on a deserted beach is an image you will cherish for years. But as the sun also rises, so too does the number of visitors on the sands.

In addition to swimming, a variety of water sports are plentiful along Médano, including jet skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

While most of the beach affords an incredible view of El Arco, local water taxis can get you up close in a matter of minutes. Near El Arco, visitors can enjoy Lover’s Beach or, for an exciting twist, Divorce Beach. Lover’s Beach promises a calm, swimmable environment, while nearby Divorce Beach offers fierce waves and dangerous swimming conditions.

The Corridor

The 20-mile Corridor that connects the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo features some of the nicest beaches in the entire region. The Blue Flag Santa María Beach is situated here, and its sheltered cove has quickly become a visitor favorite. Though it has

limited facilities, Santa María offers exceptional options for swimming.

Another Blue Flag bearer in the area is Chileno Beach, which features stunning turquoise waters that make it ideal for earlymorning snorkeling and swimming.

San José del Cabo

One of the area’s nicest swimmable beaches is Palmilla Beach. Though not as calm as Santa María or Chileno, Palmilla is hands down the best beach for whale watching, especially between January and March.

Acapulquito Beach, also known as Old Man’s Beach, is great for snorkeling and swimming. However, this place is truly best known as a surfer’s haven. Welcoming both novices and seasoned longboarders, it is a captivating sight to witness surfers riding the waves. For those wishing to simply observe from the shore, a great viewing location is the nearby Cabo Surf Hotel & Spa, and the Mike Doyle Surf School is housed within the hotel for those wanting to join in on the action.

East Cape

The growing region of East Cape also offers

some excellent beaches. Located roughly 45 minutes north of Los Cabos International Airport is Costa Palmas, a sprawling 1,500-acre resort that is the newest addition to the area. The Delphine at Costa Palmas is an open-air club nestled along the swimmable shores of the Sea of Cortés. Here, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, a bar serving signature cocktails, and dining options right on the beach. Finding your own spot on the sands should be no trouble at all, as Costa Palmas stretches two miles in length.

When visiting East Cape, make sure you don’t miss experiencing Cabo Pulmo Marine Park. As a protected national park, the dedication to preserving this magnificent natural treasure is evident. Cabo Pulmo features gently lapping waves safe enough for children to play, and its stunning coral reef attracts snorkelers, too.

Swimmable Beaches Not to Be Missed

Throughout greater Los Cabos, 43 percent of its beaches are considered swimmable and feature open-access waters. What continually draws visitors to the stunning Land’s End — Los Cabos’ affectionate moniker — are its pristine beaches and 350+ annual days of sunshine.

In addition to Médano Beach and Lover’s Beach, several other inviting swimming beaches include Chileno Beach, Santa María Beach, Palmilla Beach, and the East Cape’s Cabo Pulmo.

Located along The Corridor, Santa María is arguably one of the best swimming beaches throughout Los Cabos. Thanks to its calm waters, swimming and snorkeling are popular activities at this family-friendly beach.

Palmilla Beach, also along The Corridor, is on the short list of the best beaches in Los Cabos. Set on a crescent-shaped coastline, this Blue Flag beach draws visitors for its tranquil waters and plentiful marine life. One lesser-known beach that also offers quality swimming and snorkeling

TOP SNORKELING SPOTS:

Where to Dive In — Right from the Shore

Los Cabos is known for its dramatic coastline, and just beneath the surface lies an equally spectacular world teeming with marine life. The best part? You don’t need a boat to experience it. Several of the region’s most beautiful snorkeling spots are easily accessible from the beach, offering clear waters, gentle waves, and thriving sea life just a short swim from shore.

Set in a horseshoe-shaped bay and protected by rocky cliffs, Playa Santa María is one of Cabo’s most beloved snorkeling destinations. Calm, crystal-clear waters provide excellent visibility, while coral-covered rocks host parrotfish, angelfish, butterfly fish, and even the occasional sea turtle. Bring your own gear or rent from a vendor nearby.

Boasting Blue Flag certification and excellent facilities, Chileno Beach is perfect for a laid-back snorkeling day. You’ll find plenty of underwater action near the rocky reefs, where schools of brightly colored sergeant majors, rays, and starfish are common. Families love the calm surf and clean restrooms, while more

adventurous snorkelers can explore the deeper crevices for surprises like moray eels and octopuses.

Located near San José del Cabo, Palmilla Beach is a great option for those seeking a quieter, more serene snorkeling experience. This swimmable beach features a gently sloping shore and calm bay ideal for spotting smaller reef fish, sea cucumbers, and the occasional stingray. It’s especially beautiful in the early morning, when the water is calm and the light is ideal for underwater viewing.

For those near the Cabo San Lucas Marina, Lover’s Beach offers a rugged but rewarding snorkeling experience. Reachable by water taxi, this spot is where the Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean meet. Snorkelers can explore shallow areas near the rocks, spotting pufferfish and needlefish.

Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned snorkeler, these accessible beaches make it easy to explore the vibrant underwater world of Los Cabos. All you need is a sense of adventure and a mask.

TIPS FOR A GREAT SNORKELING EXPERIENCE

• Go early. Mornings offer the best visibility and calmer seas.

• Wear water shoes for rocky entry points and extra grip.

• Bring reef-safe sunscreen to help protect Los Cabos’ delicate marine ecosystems.

• Check tide and surf conditions before entering the water, especially at more rugged beaches.

and horseback riding are other fun options available here. El Ganzo Beach is a hidden gem located just east of San José del Cabo. Situated within the resort community of Puerto Los Cabos, a magnificent 2,000-acre master-planned community, El Ganzo Beach features pristine waters and a protected swimming area.

Call of the Wild

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more stunning landscape than that found along the Baja peninsula. Showcasing the towering Sierra de la Laguna mountain range rising behind desert plains, the stunning deep blue of the Pacific Ocean meeting the glassy Sea of Cortés, and sunlit wilds in between, the Los Cabos countryside beckons travelers

from across the globe. Here, visitors have a wealth of opportunities to experience its rugged yet welcoming landscape. All you need to bring is a spirit of adventure.

Whether you prefer adrenaline-fueled exploits or unhurried explorations, you’ll discover there’s something here for everyone. Prepare to chart your course and return home with stories (and sunsets) you’ll never forget.

Let’s be real: After starting your trip with a raucous late night at the Cabo San Lucas bars, there’s no need to rush into any activity in the morning. Start out soft and slow. Hop on horseback to trot through the well-worn back trails along the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range or, for a faster-paced start to the day, gallop along the beautiful beachfront sands. You can even go a bit out of the ordinary and enjoy a leisurely camel safari, taking in the scenery while ambling over the sandy terrain. On the other end of the spectrum, one rip-roaring way to see the outback is to book an ATV tour. Hit the throttle to speed around, navigating the rugged terrain and dusty sand pits with the wind in your hair.

For the ultimate independence, renting a Jeep and exploring the East Cape and Pacific side on your own is always a great option, allowing you to visit sleepy towns filled with artisanal crafts and indigenous wares at Sol Del Mayo and El Triunfo.

on-time transfers whisk you from airport to adventure, so you can experience hidden beaches, East Cape trailheads, Todos Santos day trips, or head straight to your resort for some pool time. Friendly drivers, roomy vehicles, and door-to-door service mean you can chase desert sunsets and sea breezes without worrying about logistics.

Wings over Los Cabos

As of October 2025, Los Cabos has officially been certified as a Bird City, becoming only the second city in Mexico to receive this international recognition. Coordinated by Environment for the Americas (EFTA), World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD), and the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), earning the Bird City designation is no small feat. This prestigious recognition underscores the region’s ideal conditions for bird-watching — thanks to its dramatic geography, mild climate, and vast protected areas.

“Los Cabos is a prime location for birdwatching because of its geography and extensive protected areas,” said Emer García, head of research and outreach at the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) Los Cabos and president of the organizing committee for the International Bird Festival. “It allows us to visualize and make visible the need to protect birds in Los Cabos, and it helps position us as a bird-watching destination.”

The unique avian biosphere surrounding Los Cabos makes it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Here, keen observers can spot the endemic Xantus’s hummingbird, Belding’s yellowthroat, and the tricolored heron, while the Estero San José del Cabo State Ecological Reserve stands as the crown jewel for birders. The reserve’s mix of wetlands and desert landscapes offers the chance to encounter species such as the yellow-billed cuckoo, the peninsular masked owl, and the pygmy owl.

To enhance your bird-watching experience, book an ecotour with a

knowledgeable guide who can highlight key species and take you to observation platforms and areas for prime sightings.

Watersport Haven

While the color scheme of the Baja countryside showcases the earthy desert beauty of browns, yellows, and greens, the surrounding waters display a kaleidoscopic palette of creatures adorned with stunning turquoises and neon oranges, greens, and yellows for the ultimate sensory experience. Snorkeling is the number one way to connect with the submarine splendor. Swim among a sublime aquarium of species, including Moorish idols, butterfly fish, and damselfish, inside Cabo Pulmo Marine

Park, a 20,000-square-foot protected coral reef. Arbolito Beach and Chileno Bay are two other astounding options to explore below the waves.

Above the surface, catching the ultimate wave is easy on the East Cape, as worldrenowned surfing spots challenge beginners and experts alike. Try out El Acapulquito surf break at KM 28 for longboarding and easier waves, or up your game and hit El Tule at KM 16.2 to shred it up with swells and barrels that can reach 8 to 10 feet high.

Those looking to break a little sweat can take the beachside vantage to a new level by streaming via kayak over the placid waters in Palmilla Bay and Santa María Beach. Pack a

snorkel mask as well as a light lunch and take a break along the way by docking at a coral-sand beach to soak in the vibes.

Sunsets are best seen from the waterside, and both adventurers and merrymakers alike can take advantage of the many sailing charters and party cruising catamarans that offer up sunset happy hour trips along the El Arco beachside. Nothing compares to having a cool margarita in hand and watching the sun dip below the breathtaking El Arco backdrop. If you’re lucky enough to visit during whalewatching season, a whale-watching charter can even take you to find packs of Bryde’s, humpback, and minke whales as they migrate off the coastline with their baby whale calves.

Jet Ski rentals are ready and lined up at Médano Beach, where speed heads can rush around the waters of the marina bayside, spraying rooster tails and hopping boat wakes. Harness the wind and your upperbody power: Clip into a kite and board, and you’ll be skimming — and soaring — over the swells. Prime conditions whip up in Los Barriles

DID YOU KNOW?

PREHISTORIC SHARK TOOTH HUNT

Did you know that from the Eocene prehistoric period to the Miocene, roughly 55 million to 5 million years ago, the Baja peninsula was underwater? It was once a shallow sea where monster sharks lurked. The evidence abounds in the foothills and mountainous areas of the landscape, where guided digs can help you find shark teeth from extinct species like the megalodon and other species such as the Otodus chubutensis, with some teeth reaching four to five inches long. A variety of extinct shellfish and corals have also been discovered there.

from November through March, making it a kitesurfer’s dream. Meanwhile, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) is a much easier way to get your workout over the waters, and it’s fulfilling beyond belief when you take your time to paddle and soak up the sunshine with a refreshing cool water spray.

Ernest Hemingway didn’t come to Los Cabos just for the whiskey — he came for the world-renowned fishing. These waters still deliver the same thrill this notable angler chased: striped and blue marlin slicing the surface, yellowfin tuna running deep, plus grouper, snapper, and mahimahi in the mix. If

landing a bucket-list catch is your goal, this is the place for brag-worthy days and exciting dockside stories. Hook up with Pisces Sportfishing, step aboard a fully equipped charter, and let the pros handle the prep while you focus on the strike.

No matter your age, fitness level, or travel style, the Baja peninsula delivers. Beyond the luxe hotels, standout restaurants, and lively bars of Los Cabos, there’s a wild, gorgeous playground waiting with trails to wander, waters to explore, and horizons to chase. Make room for adventure between the indulgences — you’ll leave with stories you can’t wait to tell.

THRILL SEEKER’S Bucket List

It’s time to gear up for the ultimate adventure! With sprawling arroyos, wild cactus country, and a whole other world beneath the waves, these five thrills will get your heart racing in Los Cabos.

» Dune buggying: Slide into a Chenowith 1000 beach buggy racer and tear across snake-like turns and mini jumps with the pedal to the metal. There’s a reason the legendary Baja 1000 dune buggy race is held here every year. Strap in and start dune-hopping!

» Camping (and glamping): Pitch a tent and feel the real soul of Baja on desert back trails, cool off at Fox Canyon’s waterfall pool, and wake to birdsong. Want comfort and more amenities? Go glamping on the Todos Santos coast, where designer tents, sea breezes, and starry skies await (mojito optional).

» Zip-lining: Clip in and soar hundreds of feet above cactus-studded canyons. It’s a fast, breathtaking way to see the

backcountry and conquer a fear of heights in one swoop, so be sure to take it all in.

» Hiking: Beat the heat with earlymorning treks and avoid the hot afternoons when the sun blankets the area. Two-hour hikes over worn footpaths at Mount Solmar over El Arco or along the spectacular oasis trails of Fox Canyon’s natural pools deliver big panoramas with modest effort. Pack plenty of water and a light snack to keep you fueled up.

» Deep-sea diving: While snorkeling is the pinnacle of placid ways to explore below the waves, deep-sea diving is on its own level. Explore wrecks like El Vencedor (about 20 miles offshore) and meet manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, mackerel, and tuna. Neptune’s Finger and Sand Falls beneath El Arco have stunning coral formations as well. Watching playful sea lions will be a lifelong memory etched in your mind!

Waldorf Astoria Spa is home to a labyrinth of amenities, including a saltwater meditation pool, grottos with steam rooms, saunas, ice rooms, and whirlpools. Here, the ancient Mayan tradition of curanderismo is honored through treatments that incorporate energetic healing, herbs, and time-honored rituals.

Drawing inspiration from lunar cycles and the sea, this spa is home to an expert team of healers providing a menu of Mexican folk rituals and wellness therapies. One popular offering is a Divine Cacao Renewal Ritual, a treatment designed to alleviate muscle fatigue, purify the body, and soften the skin through exfoliation and a warm, lavish cacao cocoon.

In addition to massages, facials, and advanced skin care treatments, there’s a menu of sumptuous soak rituals designed to harness the ocean’s energy. Spa-goers

have the chance to bathe with luxe products like a hydrating seaweed treatment, hibiscus bath salts, and body polish and oil — all while sipping organic tea by candlelight in a blackalgae face mask.

With massages, facials, and body treatments on offer, the 110-minute Water Moon ritual is particularly popular, combining an indulgent four-hand aromatherapy massage with a

customized moisturizing and illuminating facial. Afterwards, guests are invited to unwind in the soothing Jacuzzi and showers. Nestled in the rugged foothills of Mount Solmar on the peninsula leading to legendary El Arco, Grand Solmar Land’s End is home to Sea Spa, where the resort’s natural surroundings serve as inspiration for healing experiences and treatments. Indulge in a range of massages, facials, and body treatments within the spa’s breezy oceanfront cabanas. BAJA’S Best Bets

Whether you’re hunting for designer pieces in a luxe mall to wear at your next swanky soiree back home or picking up thoughtful mementos for friends and family, Los Cabos serves up plenty of spot-on finds in its eclectic mix of shops. And don’t forget: Leaning into local culture — handmade goods, regional flavors, and Mexican artistry — is what truly captures the spirit of Los Cabos. Here are 10 local finds to add to your shopping list:

1 Hand-Blown Glass

Skilled artisans transform recycled glass into vibrant salsa bowls, vases, wine carafes, cobalt-rimmed margarita glasses, and decorative figurines. Watch the process live to fully appreciate this centuries-old craft.

2Baja-Inspired Art

Browse galleries and markets across Baja California Sur to discover sculptures, paintings, and folk art that feel handpicked for you. It’s the perfect place to invest in one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect your style and elevate your home décor.

3Mexican Silver Jewelry

From traditional motifs to contemporary designs, sterling silver shines here. Look for pieces stamped .925 or .950 and marked “Mex” or “Mexico” to ensure authenticity and quality.

4 Cabo-Style Beachwear

With endless sun and sea, Los Cabos is a treasure trove for chic resort wear, — think wide-brimmed hats, breezy cover-ups, and artisan-made swimsuits that turn heads on the sand.

5

Handcrafted Ceramics

Local markets are filled with colorful, hand-painted pieces showcasing traditional Mexican patterns. Pick up decorative accents or functional kitchenware to brighten your collection.

6Tequila

Sample premium, small-batch, or hard-to-find agave spirits you won’t see at home. Once you find a favorite, bring a bottle (or two) back to share with fellow tequila lovers.

7Mexican Blankets & Textiles

Add a burst of color with striped sarapes, woven throws, and embroidered textiles that are both practical and decorative.

8Leather Goods

Mexico is known for its craftsmanship and durability — look for beautifully made handbags, belts, wallets, and hand-tooled boots to refresh your accessories wardrobe.

9Regional Talavera & Mata Ortiz Pottery

shoulders with accomplished artisans often on hand to chat about their works. As a bonus, proprietors often extend hours for patrons to engage in “artist in attendance” host talks and to ogle new exhibitions.

As wafting mariachi music paints a magical mood, eateries chime in with tasty consumables such as mole tamales and tacos best consumed with “top shelf” margaritas and artisanal mezcals. Or simply sip Baja wines and graze on complimentary tapas rendered by wandering restauranteurs.

Stepping beyond the Art Walk, San José del Cabo’s renowned studios and galleries are lauded for traditional and contemporary collections showcasing Baja novelties such as handcrafted sculptures carved from local ironwood, colorful textiles, and papier-mâché figurines. The peninsula’s hot commodity folk art further fuels the frenzy via tin crosses, blown glass hearts, wooden masks, ceramic candleholders, and "Day of the Dead" figures.

Regional concepts also nod to Mexico’s rich resources and talents such as intricate Huichol beaded artworks and figurines from Jalisco and Nayarit, amusing hand-painted woodcarvings from Oaxaca, and Puebla’s exquisite Talavera Pottery that intricately melds Chinese, Arab, Spanish, and indigenous influences.

Cabo San Lucas Luxe

Cabo San Lucas is light years past the days when shopping meant street stalls lined with shot glasses, sombreros, and NFL-logoed blankets. Today, the city has elevated its retail game with an impressive lineup of premium options that rival those along The Corridor.

You can still pick up playful souvenirs, but the focus has shifted to stylish experiences showcasing high-fashion apparel, handmade resort wear, and on-trend accessories.

Set along the lively waterfront by the Marina Cabo San Lucas, the Marina Golden Zone is a luxe hub where casual browsers and serious shoppers stroll the boardwalk to discover chic boutiques, standout dining, and even

a bit of surprise entertainment. Sharing this swank marina address are Puerto Paraíso Mall and Luxury Avenue, two of the region’s most upscale shopping enclaves.

Luxury Avenue pairs in-vogue shopping with striking contemporary architecture, creating a chic setting for discerning shoppers. Here, a roster of prestigious brands — including Tiffany & Co., Salvatore Ferragamo, Swarovski, Carolina Herrera, Cartier, Gucci, and Chanel — awaits.

Just steps away, the multilevel Plaza Puerto Paraíso entices with clothing, craft, and art boutiques, where classic Mexican-colonial design elements blend seamlessly with modern style.

While you’re there, stop into B&B Collection, an exceptional local jeweler known for its fine selection of gold and silver pieces, distinctive jewelry, and elegant accessories.

Not a shopper? No problem. This marina hub also caters to those who’d rather sip than spend — grab a local brew at Baja Brewing or indulge in a classic steak dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. You can also catch a movie, channel your inner kid at the arcade, or hit the 12-lane bowling alley for some friendly competition.

And for spirits lovers, tequila still wears the crown. Cabo San Lucas offers standout spots to taste premium agave labels you won’t easily find back home. Discover a favorite — then take a bottle (or two) to go.

Tucked beneath Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa along the Marina Golden Zone boardwalk, the Tequila Museum and La Cantina make “research” fun, offering a look at agave cultivation, harvesting, and its transformation into Mexico’s most celebrated spirit.

After tasting your way through blanco, reposado, and añejo, stroll out to the malecón for a pleasantly “spirited” browse through the Golden Zone’s tempting shops and dining spots.

Los Cabos is also renowned for preserving the centuries-old tradition of hand-blown glass. At The Glass Factory, you can watch artisans turn recycled bottles into exquisite figurines, vases, wine carafes, salsa bowls, pitchers, and those iconic cobalt-rimmed margarita glasses.

Sip & Savor

Los Cabos first captured the world’s attention for its sunsoaked beaches and perfect weather, but today, it’s the flavors that keep travelers coming back. This once-sleepy fishing village has blossomed into a global culinary destination, home to Michelin Guide–recognized restaurants, visionary chefs, and world-class resorts that celebrate both

innovation and authenticity. While still deeply rooted in Mexican tradition, Los Cabos’ dining scene is distinctly international, with menus as diverse and abundant as the marine life in the Sea of Cortés.

Global Flavors

Over the years, culinary experiences in Los Cabos have flourished to

include a plethora of global cuisines, such as European, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Middle Eastern, and, of course, Mexican and American.

Featuring a fabulous marina view on the Cabo San Lucas waterfront, Captain Tony’s aims to please every palate. The “you hook it, we cook it” policy even encourages anglers to bring in their freshly caught fish and have it prepared to their liking. As you dine, Captain Tony’s offers sensational views of the marina and mega yacht row. The traditional palapa roof is an institution at its prime spot on the Los Cabos Marina. Also on the marina waterfront in Cabo San Lucas, Alexander Restaurant pairs gourmet European cuisine with an inspiring view. Chef and owner Alex Brulhart’s menu includes fresh, locally caught fish, succulent lobster, shrimp, duck, chicken, lamb, choice aged beef, pasta, and specialties like hang beef and fondue. His array of delightful culinary creations includes Swiss, French, and tropical influences. For added flare, guests can also enjoy a variety of appetizers or entrees flambéed tableside.

40 YEARS OF

FLAVOR:

Romeo & Julieta

A Los Cabos classic refines its soul — not to reinvent but to elevate — while welcoming a new generation to “travel to Italy” without leaving town.

There are restaurants that outlast trends and end up setting a city’s rhythm. Romeo & Julieta — an emblem of Grupo Solmar founded by Charo Bulnes — celebrates four decades of service in July 2026 with a second renovation that doesn’t seek to change its essence but to polish it.

The vision is a plausible Italy: gentle lighting, genuine (not theatrical) comfort, easy circulation, attentive acoustics, and a table that “converses” with the diner. The kitchen embraces tradition with contemporary precision — perfectly cooked pasta, thoughtful sauces, and local ingredients in dialogue with Italian denominations. Service, trained in the house’s own school, reads the table without intruding. This is not nostalgia; it’s continuity.

Across 40 years, Romeo & Julieta has welcomed families, generations, and

travelers who made the place a ritual. The refreshed look honors that memory and looks ahead: more comfortable, more beautiful, more clear-eyed, ready to receive new generations seeking authenticity without concessions. The commitment to Los Cabos shows in the choice of suppliers, in hospitality that understands the destination, and in a simple promise: “to remain the same Italian home as always, better than ever.” Few brands manage this steady improvement. Romeo & Julieta celebrates not with fireworks but with details — a refined dish, a room that breathes, a well-suggested bottle. If the future rewards coherence, this anniversary won’t be an end point; it will be the prologue to another 40 years of “traveling to Italy” without leaving Los Cabos.

mouthwatering starters include wong tong, grilled octopus, Camembert cheese, fried calamari, fresh oysters, and portobello pita bread. Vibrant Cuisine is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and given its strategic location on the marina, reservations are highly recommended.

The Golden Zone

The Golden Zone, located in the center of Cabo San Lucas, offers some of the best dining options around with its fascinating variety of gastronomic restaurants. Recently, a handful of restaurants banded together under the “Golden Zone” title: Baja Lobster Company, Jack’s Steakhouse, Presto Italian Restaurant, Los Deseos Mexican Restaurant & Bar, and Golden Legend Sports Bar. Visitors

can purchase a Golden Lover’s passport and enjoy savings when visiting the different restaurants within the Golden Zone.

With a specialty in serving live lobster and 100 percent fresh seafood prepared with local products, Baja Lobster Company has raised the bar for culinary excellence and fine dining. Guests can choose from mouthwatering dishes like red snapper, lobster bisque, shrimp tartare, yellowfin tuna, or the catch of the day.

Jack’s Steakhouse features a pirate theme throughout the restaurant. It also delivers exactly what steak-lovers expect: mouthwatering rib eyes, filet mignon, porterhouse prime, or Jack’s Surf & Turf with lobster. The rack of lamb is another succulent entree. If you’re visiting for lunch,

try the rib-eye wrap! Margaritas are another specialty at Jack’s Steakhouse perfect for accompanying anything on the menu.

Los Deseos (“The Desires”) is a Mexican restaurant and bar nestled on the stunning marina. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Los Deseos features authentic fare like chilaquiles, various seafood dishes, chimichangas, mole, and mango salad, to name a few.

Presto features unique Italian dishes and flavors that emphasize their delicious originality. From margherita pizzas to lobster lasagna, paired with a glass of wine, Presto brings the flavors of Italy straight to your table.

The name says it all: Golden Legends Sports Bar in Cabo San Lucas is your quintessential spot for sitting back and

enjoying the game. Whether you’re a sports fan looking for a place to watch your favorite game or just looking to grab a cold beer and connect with friends, Golden Legends is the place to stop. Open for lunch and dinner, Golden Legends features burgers, wings, salads, and more.

Must-Try Mexican & More

Over the years, Los Cabos has become synonymous with great food; and those accolades are partly due to the traditional Mexican dishes found on many local menus. When visiting, there are some classic dishes you simply must try.

Fish tacos, for example, should be on everyone’s to-try list. Many restaurants offer this on their menu, and with fresh fish available daily throughout the region, it’s always delicious.

Likewise, tacos al pastor is another classic usually equated with local street food. However, as this simple dish highlighting corn tortillas and pork has grown in popularity, it’s been added to many restaurant menus as well.

While enchiladas have been a Mexican staple for years, they can now be found at some of the best restaurants in Los Cabos, each with their own unique spin on the dish.

For the last three decades, the awardwinning cuisine of Chef Angel Carbajal has been on display at Nicksan. With two restaurants in greater Los Cabos, Nicksan showcases the culinary traditions of Japan as well as the unique flavors of Mexico. As it turns out, that cultural blend of Japanese and Mexican cuisine came about by happenstance.

Veteran Japanese chef Masayuki Niikura first met Chef Angel Carbajal while vacationing in Los Cabos. The two hit it off, and once they combined their talents, Nicksan was created. Their commitment to excellence and sustainability has kept Nicksan at the forefront of the Los Cabos dining scene.

The menu seamlessly blends Japanese and Mexican flavors, featuring Chef Angel’s mouthwatering signature dishes, such as his lobster roll, tuna tostada, serrano sashimi, cilantro sashimi, and tuna sushi cake, to name a few.

WITH TWO RESTAURANTS IN GREATER LOS CABOS, NICKSAN SHOWCASES THE CULINARY TRADITIONS OF JAPAN AS WELL AS THE UNIQUE FLAVORS OF MEXICO.

Tropicana Los Cabos, a reimagined boutique hotel in the heart of San José del Cabo’s arts district, invites guests to experience Los Cabos through its flavors. Reopened in 2024 after an elegant transformation of the historic 1956 Tropicana Inn, the property now pairs its 68 guest rooms and two suites with a vibrant culinary program that celebrates regional ingredients, fresh seafood, and classic Mexican dishes with a contemporary twist. Guests can enjoy leisurely breakfasts on a shaded patio, linger over a Baja Mediterranean-inspired menu, and sip handcrafted cocktails at the poolside cantina.

Moonlit Mood

Featuring three quality restaurants serving the Los Cabos region, Grupo La Lupita strives to offer nothing but the best.

The initial location of La Lupita Taco & Mezcal features tantalizing fare in a cozy atmosphere. Set in San José del Cabo’s swank Art District, La Lupita offers great tacos during the day and even tastier ones at night. As soon as the sun sets, the band comes alive at this rustic-chic restaurant. The

simple taco-focused menu, filled with fish, al pastor, and more, pairs wonderfully with a local craft beer or a shot of artisanal mezcal. Regardless of the hour, reservations are highly suggested.

The second La Lupita restaurant blesses the shores of Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. Its popularity has only grown with time, and not only for the quality food but for the picturesque setting. La Lupita Médano Beach is a favorite of many for its stunning location and endless possibilities for private events and catering.

The most recent addition of Grupo La Lupita is Umi Sushi & Crudo Bar in San José del Cabo, located in the Paulina Concept House near the original La Lupita Taco & Mezcal restaurant. Blending the best of Japan and Mexico, Umi Cabo offers unique dishes and drinks that represent tradition with a mix of sophistication. Chef Yutaro Tsuchiya invites guests to come experience the many unique cuisine concepts you’ll only find at Umi.

Stepping across the border into Texas, La Lupita opened a fourth restaurant in Dallas in December 2025. The launch kicked

off with taco tasting and mezcal cocktail demonstrations in a festive atmosphere similar to that found in their original beach destinations.

Romeo & Julieta Ristorante has become not only a cornerstone of the Los Cabos dining scene but an institution in and of itself for the past 40 years. Its warm, inviting interior decorations will make you feel as if you’ve been transported straight to Tuscany. Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, this classic Italian restaurant features the creations of Executive Chef Matias Forte. While new dishes are sometimes introduced, there is always a respect for the time-honored dishes that diners have come to expect. A few of those classic menu items include chicken Parmesan, veal scaloppini with mushrooms, a variety of pizzas and calzone, and Juliet focaccia. For dessert, tiramisu is always on the menu. Romeo & Julieta features live music seven nights a week, and the restaurant prides itself in offering special events like rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, proposals, Posadas, birthdays, and more.

Dinner and Drinks with a View

The vibrant nightlife of this Mexican paradise beckons like a lively mariachi band. After a day of exploring, embrace the magic of Los Cabos after dark, where a new world of excitement emerges under the cover of night.

The Rooftop at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, comes alive as the sun goes down. The Rooftop al fresco sky garden offers sweeping views of El Arco and the twinkling lights of Cabo San Lucas as you kick back and relax. Lush greenery and flowing waters connect the large open-air terrace with a separate beer garden pergola. The Rooftop mixologists create handcrafted cocktails and serve up artisanal beers from the local region, and appetizers include popcorn shrimp or an heirloom tomato salad. There are several main courses on offer, but the Rooftop double cheeseburger is always a big hit.

Tucked into the open-air lobby at The Cape, the reimagined Sunken Bar is the property’s atmospheric hub. Reopened in 2024, the space pairs panoramic sea vistas and postcard sunsets with food and drink curated by the hotel’s culinary flagship, Manta. The bar serves favorite Manta plates

Treat yourself to the luxury of dining on gourmet cuisine while overlooking the breathtaking view or dine by romantic candlelight under a blanket of stars with your one and only. Aside from its culinary delights, guests can also choose to relax and be pampered at the Cascadas Beauty Salon & Spa. Club Cascadas de Baja even features a host of on-site activities for all ages, such as tennis and a well-equipped fitness center, to name a few.

The 7 Seas Seafood Grille, located in the Cabo Surf Hotel, offers eclectic seafood tinged with Mexican influences. Executive Chef Alejandro Rodriguez and his talented culinary team strive to use fresh organic produce from the region as well as healthy, high-quality ingredients. To that end, guests can expect menu items like fresh grouper, red snapper, tuna, shrimp, lobster, scallops, mussels, oysters, baby squid, and blue crab. For those looking for a thrill, the restaurant also has a front-row seat to watch surfers ply the Sea of Cortés’s crashing waves year-round.

Bites, Bars, and Baja Nights

In the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the Mango Deck, situated on Médano Beach, boasts an incredible view of Lover’s Beach and El Arco. Open every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Mango Deck is popular throughout the day but really kicks it up a notch after sundown. Live entertainment is part of what makes this place a favorite among locals and visitors, and they have added nightly musical performances! The Mango Show Orchestra performs on Sundays, and the RNB Band on Mondays. Tuesdays are all about soft rock and ’80s favorites, while Wednesday and Thursday feature rock performances. Every Friday is dedicated to ’80s and ’90s rock, and a violinist performs on Saturday nights.

For those looking to unwind with a beverage, Baja Brewing Company offers plenty of fun, good food, and great beer. Fortunately for visitors, there are two locations to enjoy: one on Médano Beach on the rooftop of Cabo Villas Beach Resort and one in the Art District in San José del Cabo. A hit with visitors and locals alike, Baja Brewing Company serves finely crafted beers and refined pub fare in a fun, casually elegant setting. Popular pours

Culinary Celebrations

Relish the Heritage is an exclusive culinary festival that brings esteemed guests together to showcase the best of Mexico’s cuisine. The 10th anniversary will be celebrated in April 2026 at the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa. Relish the Heritage strives to highlight Mexican gastronomy, mixology, wine, and music, honoring a different culinary region of Mexico each year. This event is set apart from other food festivals in that it is by invitation only and not open to the public.

The World’s Most Foodie (WMF) culinary event is set to take place in Los Cabos in April 2026. This event is open to any and

all, including chefs, food nerds, culinary trendsetters, and people who love to take photos of their food before taking a bite! WMF will feature live cooking demos, jaw-dropping tastings, and enough food to feed an army.

The world is once again welcomed to attend Festival Sabores de Sudcalifornia (Southern California Baja) Flavors in early March 2026 in Miraflores, a small town about 45 miles north of San José del Cabo. The ninth annual Southern California Flavors Festival offers visitors an opportunity to discover the best of the region’s gastronomy at Doña Pame Restaurant in Villa del Carmen. This organic food event aims to preserve the authentic flavors of the Southern Baja region while promoting its gastronomy, products, and traditions — all paired with local live music and typical regional folklore.

One of the premier gastronomical events along the Baja peninsula is the aptly named GastroVino — a boisterous gathering of culinary cuisine and drinks destined to be a lifetime highlight for anyone attending. The GastroVino Baja Food & Wine Festival takes place during December in the sleepy town of Todos Santos.

COOL BEANS, Warm Vibes

A retro diner in San José del Cabo’s Art District where ’70s tunes, comfort-food classics, and fresh-baked aromas meet Baja flair.

Cool Beans is a one-of-a-kind retro diner in the heart of the San José del Cabo Art District. According to owner Angel Stoughton, “When you walk through our doors, you’ll experience the perfect pairing of great music, comfort food with local flair, and the aroma of bread, pies, and other delights wafting from our bakery.” Her description is easily reminiscent of any small town in the U.S. during the 1970s, which is where Angel actually acquired the idea for Cool Beans. Her mother was a flower child of the 1960s who had a fierce love for music of the ’60s and ’70s.

As a young girl growing up in a house adjacent to an orchard that her grandparents owned, Angel learned to cook in her grandmother’s kitchen. She fondly remembers how Grandma’s

maize harvest. Despite its name, Día de los Muertos is anything but mournful. Instead, it is a lively event that reunites generations in the belief that for those two days, the border between the living and the dead is weakened, allowing spirits to return for feasts and celebrations. Visitors to Los Cabos can join in the festivities for an authentic cultural experience that is both breathtaking and steeped in history.

The San José Art Walk is held every Thursday evening from November through June. Each week, San José del Cabo shuts down its main roads for local artisans to display their paintings, jewelry, crafts, and food while the city’s renowned art galleries stay open late for public viewings.

San José Jazz Summer Fest, formerly known as the San José Jazz Festival, has been a popular event since its inception in 1990. The 2026 edition takes place August 7–9 in the heart of downtown San José del Cabo, centered on Plaza de César Chavez. All 10 stages are within easy walking distance, ensuring you won’t miss your favorite act.

kitchen always smelled like fresh-baked bread or cookies. So, one day, Angel conceived the idea of creating her own happy place from her happiest memories as a carefree child raised on folk music, love, and the smell of fresh baked goods made from scratch. Now, it is Angel’s wish to share these feelings with every customer who enters through the doors of Cool Beans.

Out & About

Beyond Cabo’s dazzling coastline lies a different kind of Baja — one where cobblestone streets, mountain backdrops, and coastal villages reveal the region’s authentic spirit. These destinations invite travelers to slow down, explore deeply, and discover the heart of the peninsula.

Miraflores:

The Village beneath the Mountains

Roughly 25 miles north of Los Cabos, Miraflores — meaning “look at the flowers” — rests peacefully at the base of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. With just over a thousand residents, this small pueblo is a place where time seems to linger. Stroll past workshops where skilled artisans

craft fine leather goods by hand or wander through the lush countryside on a gentle hike. Miraflores perfectly blends natural beauty, craftsmanship, and a touch of adventure.

Santiago: Where Heritage and Nature Meet

About 30 miles north of Los Cabos, Santiago traces its roots to 1723, when a Jesuit padre founded a mission here. The town still feels like a glimpse into old Baja — cowboys ride through the streets, farms supply fresh produce to Los Cabos’ top restaurants, and life moves at a slower rhythm. Visit the local museum to see fossils and colonial relics or take a short trip to the nearby Sol de Mayo waterfall, where a 40-foot cascade tumbles into a crystal-clear pool. End your visit with a hands-on experience at Rogelio’s Ranch, learning about traditional plant medicine and leatherwork amid the scenic Sierra de la Laguna mountains.

Todos Santos:

Baja’s Creative Soul

Just an hour north of Cabo San Lucas along Highway 19, Todos Santos shines as one of Baja’s most artistic enclaves. Galleries, boutiques, and cafés fill the charming streets, attracting painters, writers, and musicians from around the world. Cozy restaurants serve local specialties in relaxed courtyards, while boutique hotels offer stylish comfort. The elegant Hotel San Cristóbal Baja, perched where desert meets ocean, welcomes travelers with whitewashed walls, an oceanfront pool, and the tranquil rhythm of the Pacific.

El Triunfo:

Echoes of Silver and Song

Once a booming silver mining hub, El Triunfo now thrives as a historic and cultural retreat. Its red-brick façades, restored chimneys, and cobbled streets tell stories of prosperity and perseverance. Try the town’s celebrated “Paella Sunday,” visit the Piano Museum — home to rare instruments from around the world — and take a walk through the Rosario Cactus Sanctuary, a protected desert garden filled with towering native species.

San Antonio: A Quiet Corner of History

Home to fewer than 500 residents, San Antonio offers peace, solitude, and a glimpse into Baja’s past. Like its neighbor El Triunfo, this former mining town still bears traces of its silver rush era. Wander through the narrow streets, photograph the weathered church, and enjoy the unhurried rhythm of a town untouched by time.

East Cape: The Call of the Sea

Northeast of Los Cabos, the East Cape stretches along miles of pristine coastline. Its crown jewel, Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, protects the only living hard coral reef in North America — a 20,000-year-old natural wonder teeming with marine life. Snorkelers and divers will encounter everything from sea turtles to colorful fish, while surfers chase perfect waves along Costa Azul. The region’s wild beauty and laid-back vibe make it a paradise for ocean lovers.

Nestled here is the award-winning Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, a luxurious haven blending contemporary design with stunning Sea of Cortés views. Guests enjoy world-class

amenities, including the only private marina in Cabo, 13 different dining experiences, a luxury spa, championship golf course, and, of course, the global brand’s signature service.

La Paz:

The

City

of Calm and Color

Translating to “The Peace,” La Paz lives up to its name. Overlooking the Sea of Cortés, it offers a mix of coastal charm and cultural sophistication. Walk along the palm-lined malecón as pelicans skim the waves, explore the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, or visit the Museum of Anthropology to trace Baja’s ancient roots. Just offshore lies Espíritu Santo Island — a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can snorkel with sea lions, kayak through turquoise coves, and experience nature at its purest.

Loreto: Where History Meets Adventure

Cradled between the Sierra de la Giganta mountains and the calm waters of the Sea

of Cortés, Loreto is one of Baja’s most picturesque towns. Founded in 1697, it was the first Spanish mission in the Californias. Visitors can wander through its cobblestone streets, sample fresh seafood, or join a boat tour to nearby islands brimming with wildlife. From kayaking alongside dolphins to exploring centuries-old landmarks, Loreto offers a perfect balance of history, culture, and outdoor fun.

Comondú: The Wild Heart of Baja

Covering a vast stretch along Baja’s Pacific coast, Comondú is a haven for explorers. Visit Misión San José de Comondú, one of the region’s earliest missions, then head south to Magdalena Bay, where gray whales gather each winter to birth their calves. In nearby Puerto San Carlos and Puerto López Mateos, you’ll find endless opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and bird-watching. Farther north, Scorpion Bay in San Juanico beckons surfers with its legendary, seemingly endless waves.

Mulegé:

The Land of Ancient Art Farther north, Mulegé offers travelers the chance to step deep into history. The surrounding canyons shelter rock paintings dating back more than 7,000 years, depicting animals, humans, and ancient rituals. Some are accessible by car, but the most remote sites can be reached only with a guide — often on multiday burro treks that blend adventure, archaeology, and timeless desert scenery.

San Ignacio: Oasis of the Desert

In the middle of Baja’s arid landscape, San Ignacio appears like a mirage — a green oasis filled with palms, springs, and birdlife. Its centerpiece, the Mission San Ignacio, built in the 1700s, remains one of the most beautiful churches in the region. The town is known for its warm hospitality and delicious local cuisine, from fresh seafood to sweet date desserts. Just outside town, the San Ignacio Lagoon offers one of the world’s most moving wildlife encounters: up-close whale watching in calm, protected waters.

Santa Rosalía:

A Touch of France by the Sea

With its wooden houses and industrial heritage, Santa Rosalía stands apart from other Baja towns. Founded by a French mining company in the 19th century, it retains a distinctive European charm. Don’t miss the Church of Santa Bárbara — designed by Gustave Eiffel — or a stop at the historic “El Boleo” bakery for its famous bread. Wander through the harbor, sample fresh seafood, and take in the laid-back rhythm of this cultural gem by the sea.

Corporate Meetings Improve Communication, Understanding

A Harvard Business Review survey recently concluded that 81 percent of respondents believe that traveling to meet colleagues in person offers value beyond the meeting itself, and a whopping 93 percent said that in-person meetings are critical to bridging cultural differences. Furthermore, the report revealed that employees believe corporate retreats are a powerful tool for fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

By bringing diverse teams together in one experience, these retreats can break down cultural barriers, build trust, and create a more cohesive global workforce. And what better place for companies to bring their employees for an inspiring experience than Los Cabos, Mexico?

corporate conventions as well. Here, the custom catering options can be at the center of your Cabo San Lucas business retreat or meeting, as the outdoor meeting terrace offers ample seating and a variety of dining options. If a beach event is in your plans, special celebrations can even take place on the sand and under the moonlight.

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, in San José del Cabo offers an exceptional array of venues for executive meetings, retreats, incentives, and exclusive events. For meetings or banquets, The Conference Room offers multiple room configurations that open onto an outdoor terrace with beautiful ocean views.

Considered a pinnacle of hospitality innovation, the multifaceted Cabo del Sol community has fueled this transformation with stellar newbies that dare to deviate from standard, cookie-cutter designs.

A coastal sanctuary shaped by the Sonoran Desert, Sea of Cortés, and Baja California Sur heritage, Park Hyatt Los Cabos at Cabo del Sol integrates modern elegance with an enriching atmosphere. Decked out with a terrace or patio to enjoy the gorgeous scenery, most guest rooms and suites up the appeal even further with plunge pools opening to views of the grounds or the Sea of Cortés. Spacious villas add thoughtful residential touches via living areas, full kitchens, and private pools. To satisfy your palate, five restaurants invite you to slow down and savor the comingling of bold Baja flavors with soulful Mexican cooking styles. In your downtime, tap into five swimming pools capped by the stunning Beach Club version fringed by shaded cabanas.

Evoking elegance that plays out in traditional Mexican haciendas tinged with a cool Mediterranean mood, Four Seasons Resort Cabo San Lucas has fashioned all accommodations to connect guests to the sea and the dramatic landscape. Themed to reflect the long Baja coastline and Kumiai tribe customs, the Tierra Mar Spa extends rooted knowledge of the region’s native plants and their healing properties via therapies that foster holistic healing and revitalization. Beyond exceptional dining, the culinary focus turns up the heat through the Flavors of Cabo cooking classes and the Agave Experience. Guided by a master tequilero, guests will journey into the rich heritage of agave spirits revealed through stories of craftsmanship and ancient practices.

On the horizon, the opening of the boutique Soho House Los Cabos will stay true to form by presenting a dreamy mix of sleek design and laid-back luxury. Considered a magical escape where “the soul surrenders to el sol,” The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, reveals a refreshing spin on Los Cabos luxury. Perhaps nothing better exemplifies this on a grander scale than the two-story/three-bedroom Oceanfront Surfer Residence. In this luxe abode, up to eight can dive into the “good life,” indulging via an in-suite fitness room, an outdoor grill and dining areas, a plunge pool, and direct beach access.

All resort accommodations and vantage points whisk you into sweeping views across Monuments Beach to downtown Cabo San Lucas and El Arco. The Rooftop bar and lounge garners elite status as a quintessential hot spot for al fresco nosh sharing and pairing coupled with adult beverage consumption. Guests may also choose to tantalize their taste buds at Manta, where local, sustainable ingredients reflect influences from Mexico, Peru, Japan, and beyond.

Renowned Mexican architect Miguel Angel Aragonés designed a true masterpiece with

Viceroy Los Cabos, where striking architecture and remarkable scenery wow at every turn. All accommodations beckon you to soak in the sun on your private balcony and through floorto-ceiling windows that bring the outside in. Junior suites add pizzazz with private plunge pools, and it’s never been easier to maintain healthy “at-home” regimens than paying a visit to THE GYM, where workouts rev up via high-tech equipment and programs curated by fitness guru Harley Pasternak. For a more relaxed experience, revitalize with a holistic

treatment or series of health-boosting rituals at THE SPA. Target your culinary cravings from six lauded dining options before hitting a high note as you sip handcrafted spirits at Cielomar Rooftop bar.

A transformative journey for the senses, eforea Spa blends the healing powers of marine elements with natural ingredients sourced from the surrounding landscape. Fusing finishing touches both modern and ancient, techniques at eforea express regional heritage and native rituals. At their restaurant, Executive Chef Mauricio Lopez reinterprets Mexican and international flavors to concoct such sumptuous fare selections as fresh-fromthe-water seafood grilled over a live fire and tangy ceviches presented with rare mezcals and top-flight tequilas.

Perched above sweeping views of the Sea of Cortés, Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences offers refined stays ranging from cozy studios to spacious three-bedroom villas. Spend the day on the sands or by the pool, then unwind at Cactus Spa, where holistic

Alluring Stays in San José del Cabo

Set along the powder-soft shoreline of San José del Cabo, JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa channels tropical ease with the elevated service and refined details the brand is known for worldwide. Guest rooms and suites feature sleek design, luxe bedding, 24-hour room service, and private balconies made for soaking in those dazzling sea views.

Coupling adults-only solace with all-inclusive benefits, Paradisus Los Cabos combines destination-inclusive experiences with missionthemed architecture in a luxury beach resort setting. Michelin-rated Chef Martin Berasategui and his Gastro Bar set the stage for epicurean

Tips & Info

LOCATION: Los Cabos refers to two towns — Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo — found at the end of Baja California Sur, about 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California.

CLIMATE: Located just south of the Tropic of Cancer, Los Cabos is a subtropical desert. In the summer, highs can reach 90° F; and there are sporadic

showers. Winter evenings see the thermometer drop to 60° F, with daytime highs near 80° F.

TIME ZONE: Los Cabos is on Mountain Time (MT) — one hour ahead of Pacific Time.

LANGUAGE: In Mexico, Spanish is the official language; but English is widely spoken

throughout Los Cabos, especially by those within the hospitality industry.

ELECTRICITY: 120 volts/60 hertz. Electrical outlets are the same as those used in the U.S.

BANKS AND CURRENCY: The official unit of currency is the Mexican peso (MXN), but the U.S.

dollar (USD) is widely accepted. All major Mexican national banks are represented in the destination and are usually open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many branches have ATMs that accept U.S. bank cards just as they do in the U.S. Keep in mind, transaction fees may be higher; and some ATMs can dispense both Mexican pesos and U.S. dollars. While you can exchange dollars for pesos at the airport, any bank, and many hotels, the banks will usually have the best rates. Credit cards are welcome at most major restaurants and hotels. When using your credit card, the statement total will appear in pesos at the exchange rate posted on that day.

EXCHANGE RATE:

At press time, one Mexican peso is equal to $0.05 USD. This rate fluctuates, so check it closer to your travel date and when you arrive.

COMMUNICATION: Most major wireless carriers offer packages that provide messaging, calling, and data services at reasonable rates. Check with your provider and ask about roaming rates in Mexico, international package options, and other travelrelated services prior to your trip. The internet works quite well throughout Los Cabos, and Wi-Fi is a standard amenity at many businesses and most hotels and resorts; so Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other Wi-Fi–enabled apps are a cost-effective means of communication.

To call the U.S. from your U.S. cell phone, dial 00 + 1 + area code + phone number.

To call local landlines, just dial the seven-digit phone number.

To call cell phones (within the same area code), dial 044 + phone number.

To call Mexico outside of Los Cabos, dial 01 + area code + phone number.

GETTING AROUND

Taxis are the fastest way to get around. Note that there are official taxis with established rates, so we recommend using only those authorized by the government. Buses are a low-cost and convenient choice that operate for most of the day. There are several private transportation companies. It is the most expensive route, but they will pick you up at your hotel and take you anywhere. You can also opt for a car rental if you want more freedom. Uber is also available.

AIRPORT & TRAVEL DETAILS

To enter Mexico, you need a valid passport. All foreign travelers must pass through immigration and customs. Once you have been cleared by immigration officials, collect your luggage and proceed to customs, where you push a button on something that looks a lot like a traffic light; if the light turns red, your luggage has been selected for inspection. After getting through customs

CVB (4)

and immigration, you may walk past time-share salespeople eager for your attention.

Unless you’ve arranged pickup with your hotel, yellow and white mini shuttles are a good option. They are less expensive than taxis, but they won’t depart unless full — so you may find yourself waiting a few minutes.

Cab drivers and other prearranged transportation providers have a designated waiting area just outside.

FLIGHT CONNECTIVITY

Getting to Los Cabos has never been easier. With direct flights from five countries, the destination welcomes travelers from around the world with seamless connectivity. There are 32 routes from the United States, 16 from Mexico, 11 from Canada, and international service from Germany and Panama, each offering one direct route.

Just 20 minutes north of San José del Cabo, the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) services more than 400 domestic, international, and private flights weekly. At press time, the following airlines offered flights to Los Cabos: Aeroméxico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Calafia Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Magnicharters, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Sunwing, United Airlines, VivaAerobús, Volaris, and WestJet.

Nonstop flights and connections to Los Cabos are available from numerous cities across the U.S., including Atlanta; Charlotte; Chicago; Dallas/ Fort Worth; Denver; Detroit; Houston; Kansas City, Mo.; Minneapolis; Newark; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; and Seattle. From California, there are flights and connections available from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. From Canada, there are flights available from Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.

The smaller, less frequented Cabo San Lucas International Airport (CSL) is located just 10 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas and primarily services private aircraft.

Depending on your point of departure, flight times range from just 1–2 hours from many Mexican cities to 2–4 hours from major U.S. hubs, 5–6 hours from Canada, and around 12 hours from Europe. No matter what corner of the world you’re flying in from, Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) connects paradise to many major cities — making your dream escape just one effortless flight away.
