In the heart of the Midwest, Hermann has charming buildings, locally-owned restaurants, wineries, and distilleries, festivals, and so much more for visitors to enjoy. There’s always something to do in Hermann, and with these tips, you can feel like a local while you explore the city.
Can I get around town without driving?
You can jump on the Amtrak Missouri River Runner any day of the week to visit Hermann. Once here, much of our beautiful town is within walking distance. We also offer many transportation services including taxis, Uber/Lyft drivers, and the Hermann Trolley. Or, rent a bike to peddle around town, exploring at your own pace. Plus, on select dates throughout the year, visitors can choose from two carriage ride tour options.
Where do I park?
Hermann has lots of public parking available for guests, including at the Riverfront Park, along Gutenberg Street, Fifth Street, River Memorial parking lot at Market and First Streets, and at the Amtrak Station.
What should I wear?
Hermann is known for being a walkable town, so wear or bring comfortable shoes. Since we’re in the Midwest, we’re also famous for our seasonal weather that can quickly change. We recommend dressing in layers so you’ll always feel comfortable indoors and out. Don’t forget to stay hydrated as you walk, eat, and drink your way through town.

Are there pet-friendly attractions and lodging?
Yes! In fact, it is common to see water dishes placed in front of businesses during the warmer months to help keep your pet hydrated. Many of the wineries, distilleries, and restaurants with outdoor spaces welcome your four-legged friend when wellbehaved and on a leash. How can I immerse myself in history?

Where is the best place to watch the sunset?
Watch the sun rise, set, or just get a panoramic, one-of-a-kind view of the city on the Missouri River Bridge. There’s a safe sidewalk with benches for resting along the way.

Where are the public restrooms located?
Hermann has public restrooms at the Riverfront Park, the City RV Park Campground, and at the Swimming Pool. You will also find restrooms at the Visitor Information Center at the Amtrak Station.
