Explore THE

GREAT OUTDOORS

HAMILTON COUNTY has no shortage of fresh air. With an extensive trail system, more than 60 parks, two lakes and multiple access points to the White River, you could spend a

week exploring without ever going inside. The Monon Trail and White

River Greenway, both popular biking and walking trails, connect parks with dining, shopping and attractions as they wind through downtowns and communities. Strawtown Koteewi Park is the largest park at 750 acres and features a state-of-the-art archery range, aerial trail courses and an archaeology exhibit. Hamilton County has outdoor recreation options that are perfect for any outdoor enthusiast looking to explore nature.

“Calling the Monon Trail a “trail” does it a disservice. The newly widened path passes by a mini splash pad called Sprinkle Park, a playground, and shuffleboard courts. Rent an electric bike from Pedego Bikes (it’s just north of Midtown Plaza) and ride to Sail, local artists Quincy Owens’s and Luke Crawley’s largest piece of public art yet. Midtown Plaza is furnished with couches, community tables, and a giant screen for showing live sports. Take a twirl on a spun chair, those seats that look like tops. Or brush up on your bocce, pingpong, and cornhole skills; it’s free to play.”
