Three days of frigidly fun happenings spread across Estes Park, CO, anchored by the infamous Frozen Dead Guy Days Festival on Saturday, March 15!
THE STORY
Frozen Dead Guy Days, an annual event, celebrates the peculiar tale of Grandpa Bredo, over 120 years old This oddity stems from a journey spanning Norway to California to Colorado, involving cryonics, deportation, and a dedicated Ice Man.
Norwegian Bredo Morstoel was cryogenically preserved after he died in 1989 Transported from Norway to California, he eventually found a chilly home in Colorado with his daughter and grandson, both cryonics advocates. However, visa issues and local laws threatened his preservation.
Facing eviction and deportation, Bredo's daughter sought legal protection for her frozen father, leading to the creation of a municipal code allowing his stay. This garnered international attention, and Bredo became a local sensation in Nederland In 2023, he started a new chapter, moving to the International Cryonics Museum at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
