H.E. Nouf Al Boushelaibi, Executive Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: "This collaboration with Manchester City and PUMA reflects our commitment to share Abu Dhabi with the world and strengthen its position as a must visit destination and central hub for major global sporting events. With this exclusive apparel, our goal is to showcase the rich culture, heritage and unique experiences that Abu Dhabi offers, creatively creating awareness that attracts and resonates with people from all corners of the world.” Artist Alsuwaidi worksacross various mediums, including digital art, illustration, sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, photography, and printmaking, and her work is often infused with the UAE's rich cultural references, as seen in this limited collection. The design of the shirt presents Abu Dhabi as an open door to the world, inspired by the traditional door designs prevalent in the UAE and wider region, enriched by a variety of cultural elements. These include the intricate patterns of Gahwa (Arabic coffee) cups; the traditional craft of Al-Sadu weaving; the distinctive handcrafted Burqa’a; the tranquil palm trees of Al Ain Oasis; and the mesmerising waves of the shoreline. Additionally, the design incorporates elements of Talli embroidery; traditional wall decorations; and the historic Al Hosn site. Each element is a nod to Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage. It also features design elements meaningful to Manchester City, including the club’s formation date, the red rose of Lancaster, and one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history: Sergio Aguero's goal at 93 minutes and 20 seconds which clinched a historic League title for Manchester City on 13 May 2012. Serena Gosling, Director of Retail and Licensing, of Manchester City, added: "As a club, we continuously explore opportunities to collaborate with partners to offer our global fans exclusive experiences and products in different regions and over the past few years have created a number of successful apparel items and collections with PUMA. We are therefore excited to work with Experience Abu Dhabi and PUMA to launch this exclusive t-shirt for our fans in Abu Dhabi, as part of the City Challenge opening."With just 200 t-shirts in this exclusive drop, sports and fashion enthusiasts have a unique opportunity to secure their very own limited-edition fashion history by visiting the ‘City Challenge’ store.
