National Religious Vocation Conference commissioned worldrenowned composer Steven Warner to write a song in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life. The result, “Wake the world with dawning joy,” celebrates the unique and ancient form of disciple-

Steve Warner is the founder and director of the Notre Dame Folk Choir. He has been a member of the campus ministry staff since 1979.

Under his guidance, the folk choir has continued to develop new ritual song, for use on both Notre Dame’s campus and throughout the English-speaking world.

For more than 25 years, the ensemble has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. In 2008, Warner was recognized as Musician of the Year by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.

Warner’s sacred music is published through WLP Publications of Chicago. In the past three years, WLP released two recorded collections of sacred music by the folk choir. A new collection, “Tune My Heart,” will be released in fall of 2014.
