Meet Canon Medical Systems UK’s Newest Member – Support Dog Conan

Canon Medical UK and Support Dogs are continuing an invaluable partnership, as the company sponsor Support Dog puppy Conan through his next two years of training.

So, who are Support Dogs? They are a charity who provide specialist dogs to support families affected by autism, epilepsy or a wide range of medical disabilities. This includes: 1.2 million hours of assistance to individuals across the UK, reducing 93% of care needs within the last year, changing 94% of their lives for the better, helping to save the NHS millions of pounds through this charity – just to name a few of the incredible benefits this charity provides.

What does Conan’s journey look like? For the next 14 months, he will be living with his puppy socialiser, as he starts his long journey to becoming a lifesaving support dog for someone with epilepsy, autism or a physical disability. During this time, Conan’s schedule includes getting used to his surroundings, building confidence, learning to be independent, exposure to traffic, whistle training, as well as enjoying some toy time and play with his socialiser family.

Carbon Zero Heroes – Solar Panel Fundraising Project 2

Between 2020-2021, Canon Medical UK have been working closely with carbon offsetting partner CO2balance, to raise funds for a remote hospital in Uganda for solar panels, which will provide essential electricity for lighting, powering fridges to store vaccines in and more. The employees of CMSUK came together in a series of fundraising events to reach this goal – from one Regional Service Manager cycling over 200 miles from dawn to dusk, to bake sales, raffles and beyond.

With the success of hitting this target, a second solar panel fundraising project has begun. Individuals have already started to support this incredible cause, with an ‘at home pub quiz’, world car free day, recycling week and lots of green initiatives.
