A day in the life of...

Harry Bell, Digital Marketing Manager

What is your role? In short, I look after our beer portfolio’s social media activity and websites, supporting the brand teams in the promotion of their products.

How long have you been at Greene King? It’s technically my third stint! In this role, starting as Digital Marketing Executive, I’ve been here for four years

Tell us your career story? After gaining my degree in 2013, I got a job with a local insurance company as a trainee underwriter, which really wasn’t for me! After doing that for 6 months I joined Greene King in what was then Central Reservations for Old English Inns, spending 18 months there before leaving to join Orbital Media, a digital agency based in Stowmarket. I spent four years there learning all things social media, helping manage Sudocrem’s online presence. After finishing there I saw the Digital Marketing Executive role in B&B was available and couldn’t resist applying, and here I am now!

What does a typical day look like for you? A typical day can really vary. Sometimes it’s a case of having meetings with internal stakeholders to find out how best to help them promote their product, or I could be approving content created by our agency. On others I’ll be tinkering with our website or researching the current trends online. Social media changes all the time so it’s important to keep on top of the latest developments. Plus, as with any job, there’s the admin!

What do you love most about your job? Working with beer is fantastic, for a start! It’s much more interesting than nappy rash cream for sure. I’m also lucky that I work within a great team, B&B marketing. We’ve struck a great balance between work and fun, and it’s a pleasure to be working alongside them every day.

What do you enjoy most about working for Greene King? As I said before, the team we have here is amazing and I’ve made some great friends within the wider company. Everyone seems to want to pull in the same direction and there’s always support when needed. The Christmas party is worth it alone!
