WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
During the 'Great War' and in World War II many of Greene Kings employees responded to the patriotic call to go and defend their country. Of the hundred plus men that left to fight for the cause, 35 did not return, their names are placed on commemorative plaques in the brewery and etched into our history forever.
Iain Murison, Head of Safety, Health & Environment and who spent 30 years in the British Army, has written an article based on the history of Greene King employee Walter Greene who spent 25 years in the Army and territorial force. The intent of the article is to widen the appreciation of Walter’s experience and bring back to life the sacrifice of the many young men from our Greene King family who did not have the chance to live the life we enjoy today.
