Rishi Sunak’s new scheme grants British visas to 3,000 Indians British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak approved a new youth mobility partnership scheme on Wednesday, which will ease getting UK work visas from UK employment visa agencies in Hyderabad. Young Indians with degrees between 18 and 30 can apply for one of the 3,000 yearly visas under this scheme, allowing them to reside and maintain employment in the United Kingdom for two years. This will happen as part of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership (MMP) signed last year. This reciprocal scheme covering British nationals living and working in India will launch at the start of 2023. Sunak announced the program as a component of the UK’s Indo-Pacific policy during the G20 Summit in Bali. He confirmed the new bespoke route during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Downing Street, India is the first visa-national country to benefit from such a program. It is being called a significant moment for the bilateral relationship between India and the United Kingdom, as well as for the broader commitment that the United Kingdom has made to forge stronger ties with the Indo-Pacific region to strengthen both the Indian and British economies. The launch of the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme demonstrates this commitment. It is also considered an effort to drive the ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA), which is anticipated to continue until at least March of the following year. According to Downing Street, this free trade agreement would be the first of its kind that India has signed with a European nation. It would also boost the trading connection between the United Kingdom and India, which is currently valued at 24 billion GBP annually. It was pointed out that the United Kingdom has more links with India than almost any other country in the Indo-Pacific region. This is because nearly a quarter of all international students studying in the United Kingdom are from India, and Indian investment in the United Kingdom supports 95,000 jobs across the country.
