from the Conference Chair A LETTER On behalf of the VVMA, I would like to invite you to the 2021 Virginia Veterinary Conference and the Hotel Roanoke. This year’s conference has a little more excitement and anxiety. The excitement is the opportunity to get together again as we have all pushed through this pandemic while supporting our patients, clients and staff. The stories will be very different, but our common bond has helped us get through the year. The anxiety is working through a hybrid conference. I’m betting your Zoom fatigue may be pretty severe, but we hope the combination of in-person and online opens opportunities for everyone to enjoy the excellent CE and participate in the conference.

CONFERENCE DETAILS ONE CONFERENCE | TWO WAYS TO ATTEND | IN-PERSON OR VIRTUALLY Our conference participants' health and safety is our greatest priority. We want everyone to feel comfortable participating at the 2021 Virginia Veterinary Conference, which helped us come to the decision to have a HYBRID conference. If COVID regulations allow, we will host our traditional & intimate, in-person conference at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center and make necessary modifications to have a safe and productive meeting. We will also offer a virtual registration option where both attendees and vendors may fully participate in the conference, from the comfort of their home or office. VVMA and the Hotel Roanoke will make efforts to comply with the current CDC recommendations and any state of Virginia requirements. We greatly appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility, as plans are fluid and may change at any point.

REFUND POLICY

NO REFUNDS AFTER MAY 21, 2021 If you cancel before May 21, a $75 administrative fee will be deducted from your refund. The conference will allow registrants to transfer their registration to another person's name or to the 2022 conference, with no administrative fee.

Registrations postmarked, received by fax or online after this date will be charged the late rate. Onsite/walk-in registrants will be not be accepted.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is offering a conference rate of $144 single/double per night, plus applicable taxes & fees. Please make your room reservation before May 10, 2021. Hotel reservations are to be made directly with the Hotel Roanoke by calling 540-985-5900 or online at www.vvma.org/vvc-attendees *Rooms are subject to sell out before the cut off date. To avoid a penalty/fee, cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to check-in date.

By visiting the in-person & virtual exhibit hall, participating exhibitors and sponsors will provide you with relevant information on the latest veterinary products, services and information for you to take home to your practice. Exhibitor hours will be 7:30am-5:30pm on Friday and 7:30am-1:30pm on Saturday. Be sure to play the exhibit hall game for a chance to win a Visa gift card!

PROCEEDINGS

Speaker proceedings will be available ONLINE ONLY by or before May 1, 2021. Participants will receive an email with a link and instruction on how to view, download and/or print.

SPOUSES & GUESTS Be sure to register your spouse/guest if they would like to attend continental breakfasts, breaks and lunches during the conference. Guests may attend the Thursday and Friday receptions, free of charge.

This program will review coronaviruses of veterinary and human importance. Emphasis will be placed on understanding host range, potential for transmission, pathophysiology, effective diagnostic methodologies, and vaccination strategies for these coronaviruses. Comparison among coronaviruses and the recently emerged SARS-CoV-2 will be highlighted. Presented by M. friday, june 11 schedule FAQs What happens if I register to attend in person and the conference will only be virtual? You will have the opportunity to switch to the virtual event, move your registration fee to the 2022 Virginia Veterinary Conference or request a refund before May 21, 2021. What technology will I need to participate virtually? We recommend participating from a tablet, desktop or laptop computer with internet access. You will be able to connect to audio via your computer or a telephone. A webcam is suggested for the interactive components. You will need to download Zoom which will be the primary software to connect you to sessions and Cvent will connect you virtually to attendees, CE cessions, notes, exhibitors, chats and the conference schedule. Will any of my registration information be shared? YES, your name, practice, mailing address and email will be shared with conference exhibitors. Conference materials will be emailed to you. To access the conference platform, CVENT, you will receive a text and/or email with a link. Your cell phone number will not be shared with exhibitors. If I am a virtual attendee, will I be able to interact with the speakers? Yes, if you log into a session on a computer, not via telephone, then you will be able to click the hand on the tool bar to ask questions. Will the CE sessions be recorded? FAQs How can I register for the VVC? You may register online or complete the registration form enclosed in this packet. Online registration may be found at www.vvma.org/vvc-attendees May I register my spouse for the conference? Yes, in person registration is available for your spouse. The fee on the registration form gives a spouse access to the exhibit hall and all meals provided by the conference on June 11th & June 12th. Will onsite registration be available? No, there will not be onsite registration. If we are able to meet in person, there will be a limit to the number of people that we will be able to accommodate due to COVID group size restrictions. There is not a limit on the number of virtual attendees. Will I have to wear a face-covering? Even if I've received my COVID-19 vaccination series? YES. If the Virginia Governor allows up to 250 people to gather, you must wear a face-covering and follow all COVID preventive guidelines. What happens after I register? After you register, you will receive an email confirmation of your registration. Closer to the conference date, you will receive emails from our office with conference updates, when speaker proceedings are available and helpful information and tips on how to access and utilize the online CE platform, Cvent.
