Masonic Awards and Recognition Champion and World Record Holder
Not only being a CrossFit Coach, but also an avid Olympic Weightlifter, a member of the office staff at the Grand Lodge of Virginia, Mrs. Kim Martin, competed in the 2022 IWF Masters World Olympic Weightlifting Championship held in Orlando, Florida. For those who do not know, an Olympic Weightlifting Competition consists of three attempts each of two different lifts, the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk.

There were hundreds of competitors from around the world who took part in this annual competition. Kim won the Gold in her age and weight division and set two new world records, one for the Snatch at 62 kilos, 136 pounds and the other for the Total at 138 kilos, 303 pounds (the combined amount lifted for both the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk), while she tied the Clean and Jerk amount lifted by the current record holder at 76 kilos, 167 pounds. The excitement and pride I felt in not only winning, but in representing the United States of America is something I will never forget! Kim stated when asked about this competition.
