On the first day of Alabama’s 2026 legislative session, State Representative Matt Simpson stood at the center of a moment that underscored both the gravity of his work and the trust placed in his leadership. During her final State of the State address, Governor Kay Ivey publicly expressed support for Simpson’s newly introduced House Bill 41, known as the Child Predator Death Penalty Act, urging swift passage so it could be signed into law.
HB 41 seeks to strengthen penalties for the most egregious crimes committed against children, giving prosecutors additional tools to pursue the fullest measure of justice for those who prey on young victims. The bill immediately drew statewide attention, marking the second time during this four year legislative cycle that Governor Ivey has identified a Simpson-sponsored measure as a priority for the session.
In 2023, Simpson sponsored landmark legislation to confront Alabama’s growing fentanyl crisis, establishing strict mandatory minimum sentences for trafficking the deadly drug and recognizing its lethal impact even in small quantities. Governor Ivey publicly urged swift passage, citing fentanyl as a direct threat to Alabama families and communities. The bill passed unanimously in both chambers, reinforcing Simpson’s reputation as a legislator willing to tackle the toughest public safety challenges with clarity and resolve.
For Simpson, the Child Predator Death Penalty Act is deeply personal. Before entering public office, he spent more than a decade as a prosecutor, including leading the child sex crimes division of the district attorney’s office. There, he confronted firsthand the devastating realities faced by abused children and their families— experiences that permanently shaped his perspective and continue to guide his legislative priorities.

Since first being elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2018, Simpson has built a reputation as a serious, disciplined lawmaker focused on public safety, ethics reform, and accountability. He currently serves as Chair of the House Ethics and Campaign Finance Committee and sits on key committees including Judiciary and Commerce and Small Business. His legislative record reflects a consistent commitment to strengthening Alabama law where it matters most.
As the 2026 session unfolds, House Bill 41 stands as a defining piece of legislation—one that reflects both the urgency of protecting children and Simpson’s willingness to confront the hardest issues facing the state. With the Governor’s backing and growing statewide attention, his work continues to place Alabama at the forefront of critical conversations about justice, responsibility, and public service.
That commitment extends beyond the State House. Simpson’s wife, Marina, is actively engaged in nonprofit work, sharing his dedication to service and community impact. Together, they are raising two teenagers who are already proving themselves driven, determined, and eager to lead—values the family strives to model both publicly and at home.

Held annually the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the Camellia Ball is a cherished Mobile tradition that ushers in the Mardi Gras season with timeless Southern elegance. Fort Whiting was transformed by designer Ron Barrett into a dreamlike setting filled with candlelight, cascading drapery, and floral grandeur for the 73rd annual event. Twenty-two debutantes, clad in pink and carrying camellia bouquets, were formally presented to society. Music, champagne, and exquisite hors d’oeuvres added to the festive ambiance, while angelic young attendants offered a glimpse of future generations. Deeply rooted in Mobile’s social history, the Camellia Ball marks the beginning of months of celebration—culminating in parades and coronations. It remains a treasured evening of beauty, legacy, and the promise of new beginnings.

Thames and Hannah Raymond celebrated their love and were joyfully joined in marriage during an elegant December wedding at Venue Thirty One in Spanish Fort, creating a day that felt both timeless and deeply personal. Despite steady rain throughout most of the day, the skies cleared just under an hour before the ceremony, allowing the couple to exchange vows outdoors without a single drop of rain. The perfectly timed clearing felt symbolic, setting the tone for a day filled with gratitude, joy, and quiet awe.
Designed as a classic Christmas celebration, the wedding featured festive trees throughout the space, a striking black-and-white checkered dance floor, and cold sparks that elevated the reception with a sense of celebration and drama. Family and friends traveled from near and far, filling the evening with warmth, laughter, and meaningful connection.

One of the most unforgettable moments came during the ceremony when Hannah’s beloved dog—dressed in his own tuxedo—greeted the couple at the end of the aisle. A true star with a loyal social media following and his own

personal “camera woman,” he even shared a private first look with Hannah beforehand, a tender moment that brought her to tears.
The evening closed with a private last dance for Austin and Hannah while guests gathered outside with sparklers— giving the newlyweds a quiet moment to soak in the magic before their joyful sendoff.
As Hannah shared, “Our story began on Gravine Island through mutual friends. Conversation flowed, laughter came easily, and what followed was a love built on friendship, trust, and the intentional choice to walk through life together.”

Anna Claire Lowe and Logan Smith’s love story began in 2020 at Church of the Highlands, where they met through the youth group. Their connection was immediate, and they began dating soon after. Even during their high school years, both envisioned a future together. After four years of dating and graduating from ministry school in 2024, they were ready to begin their next chapter as husband and wife.
While on spring break with their closest friends, the group planned an evening visit to Fairhope Pier. Anna Claire believed they were simply stopping to take photos at sunset, but Logan had something far more special planned. As she turned around, she found him on one knee, surrounded by their best friends. “I thought we were just taking a picture because the sunset was beautiful, but when I turned around, he was on one knee—it was the most special evening,” Anna Claire shared.
Family and friends traveled from across the country to celebrate alongside them on their wedding day, making the day even more meaningful. Anna Claire wore a timeless, strapless A-line satin gown that reflected a classic and understated aesthetic.
The reception was beautifully anchored by a black-andwhite checkered dance floor from Gulf Coast Events & Rentals. A standout moment came when Anna Claire's cousin who served as her maid of honor surprised guests with a choreographed dance they created as children.
Guests also enjoyed a photo booth provided by Magic Memories and a latte bar by Summer Moon Coffee during cocktail hour—a unique touch that was a guest favorite.
The celebration also included a vintage three-tier cake featuring vanilla and raspberry, alongside a groom’s cake honoring Logan’s favorite teams. Following the festivities, the newlyweds honeymooned in Key Largo, Florida, and now call The Woodlands, Texas, home.

Savannah Street and Samuel Hass’s wedding was the perfect blend of faith, family, and Southern tradition, marking the culmination of a love story that began at Auburn University. The two met as officers of a faith-based student organization and became close friends during a group trip to Washington, D.C. After nine months of friendship, their relationship grew into something more, and nearly three years later, they were married.
Savannah envisioned a classic Southern wedding—one that would give Sam’s Northern family a true taste of Alabama hospitality. Their palette of periwinkle and champagne, accented with blue hydrangeas and white orchids, set an elegant and welcoming tone. She wore a modern ball gown with a cowl neckline, crepe fabric, and a chapel train. Thoughtful custom touches by her seamstress—including a blusher veil and pearl accents—made the look feel uniquely her.
Family played a central role throughout the day. The ceremony took place at First Baptist Fairhope, the church where Savannah grew up and where generations of her family worshiped. Loved ones were intentionally included, from her cousin singing during the ceremony to Sam’s aunt offering a prayer in Danish. Instead of a first look, the couple shared a private first touch and prayer beneath the stained-glass baptistry.
The reception overflowed with energy and joy, especially on the dance floor. During the final song, “God Bless the USA,” guests locked arms and sang together—a moment Savannah describes as unforgettable.
Following the celebration, the newlyweds enjoyed a brief stay at the Grand Hotel before honeymooning in Cap Cana. They now call South Florida home and look forward to their next chapter together with gratitude and excitement.

Where Design Meets

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is the nation’s largest and most recognized one-to-one youth mentoring organization. The organization is built on a simple but powerful belief: consistent, caring relationships can change the trajectory of a child’s life. Through carefully screened volunteer mentors, Big Brothers Big Sisters creates meaningful matches that help young people build confidence, improve academic outcomes, and develop the social and emotional skills needed to reach their full potential.

Locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast brings that mission to life across south Alabama and portions of coastal Mississippi. Based in Mobile, the organization serves hundreds of children each year, impacting not only the Littles they match with mentors, but also families, schools, and the broader community. By pairing children with positive adult role models, the Central Gulf Coast affiliate helps young people navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and envision brighter futures.
The organization offers both community-based and schoolbased mentoring programs, allowing matches to meet where support is needed most. In community-based mentoring, Bigs and Littles spend time together building trust and exploring shared interests outside of school. School-based mentoring provides consistent interaction during the school day, reinforcing academic engagement and social development. Every match is supported by professional staff who guide the relationship from start to finish, ensuring safety, consistency, and long-term success.
What sets Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast apart is its deep connection to the communities it serves. The evidence-based organization works closely with local schools, civic leaders, businesses, and volunteers who believe in investing in the next generation—continuing to grow its impact and proving that when a child has someone in their corner, even small moments can lead to life-changing outcomes.

Corporate partnerships play a vital role in expanding the impact of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Their nationally recognized, turn-key Corporate Big Program pairs companies with local schools to create meaningful and easy mentorship opportunities for volunteers during the work week. Through sponsorships, employee mentoring programs, volunteer engagement, and financial support, corporate partners help fund matches, strengthen local programming, and invest directly in the future of the communities they serve.
PNC Bank exemplifies this commitment as the presenting sponsor of the King Cake Off, the largest annual fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast.
“PNC is proud to support the work Big Brothers Big Sisters does in the community. The King Cake Off is one of my favorite events of the year,” shares Rusty Shaw, PNC's Regional President and Head of Commercial Banking for the Gulf Coast Market. “We are a national bank with a coast-to-coast presence, but PNC is deeply embedded in the communities we serve and committed to understanding local needs. When the opportunity to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters arose, it was a natural fit.”

Think about the full look. When choosing a gown, consider accessories, shoes, and undergarments early to ensure everything works seamlessly together on your wedding day.
Know your venue and vibe. Your dress should reflect where and how you’re getting married— formal ballroom, beach, garden, or church—so share those details with your stylist.
Trust your stylist’s expertise. Bridal consultants know how gowns fit, move, and photograph. Trying on a recommended silhouette may surprise you in the best way.
Plan for alterations. Alterations are where the magic happens. Schedule fittings early and factor them into your timeline to achieve a flawless fit.
Stay true to yourself. Trends come and go, but the best dress is the one that feels like you. Confidence is the most beautiful thing you can wear.
Make it memorable. Bridal shopping is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—take photos, celebrate the moment, and enjoy every step of the journey.

When it comes to weddings that feel deeply personal yet effortlessly refined, Sherry Pierce, owner and lead planner of Studio08, has mastered the art of experiencedriven design. With more than 25 years of expertise and a reputation for thoughtful, immersive celebrations, Sherry and her team continue to craft some of the Gulf Coast’s most memorable wedding weekends. Two recent weddings—distinct in style yet united by intention—beautifully reflect Studio08’s signature approach.
Following their wedding rehearsal, Lucy and Tully's guests gathered for an unforgettable after-rehearsal dinner at Crown on St. Louis, a strikingly elegant space that blends historic charm with modern sophistication.
The evening unfolded in a warm, autumn-inspired palette of charcoal and taupe linens layered with peach, blush, apricot, rust, and soft coral florals, accented by lush greenery and the glow of candlelight. Rather than a single standout moment, the night was memorable for its feeling—an intimate, candlelit celebration where guests lingered over dinner, shared heartfelt toasts, and enjoyed an atmosphere designed for connection.
What made the evening especially unique was the dramatic yet inviting design. Floor-to-ceiling draping softened the industrial architecture, while cascading overhead florals and glowing chandeliers transformed the space into something both grand and deeply romantic. Formal dining was balanced with thoughtfully styled lounge areas, creating an effortless flow between elegance and comfort.

Cocktail hour featured globally inspired passed bites, followed by a plated dinner of red wine–braised short ribs, mini lump crab cakes, and seasonal sides. Three tiramisu cakes, finished in soft ivory buttercream and fresh fruit, were displayed together for a refined finale.
The after-rehearsal dinner set the tone—warm, intentional, and beautifully unforgettable. Lucy and Tully’s wedding and reception that followed were equally joyful.

Olivia and Cain’s wedding was a study in timeless design and refined restraint. The ceremony took place at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, followed by a candlelit reception at the historic Bragg-Mitchell Mansion. A fully monochromatic palette of sage, moss, and olive—paired with ivory—flowed seamlessly through every detail, from florals and stationery to bar fronts and the dance floor, creating a cohesive, cinematic atmosphere beneath centuries-old live oaks.
A joyful first look set the tone for the evening, which unfolded gracefully as night fell. The three-tier ivory cake featured delicate raised floral detailing that echoed the surrounding greenery.

The culinary experience was expertly executed by Georgia Roussos Catering. Guests enjoyed butlered hors d’oeuvres including West Indies salad served in appetizer spoons, followed by a grilled oyster station featuring the chef’s signature sauce. The cocktail buffet showcased Gulf Coast favorites—sliced beef tenderloin with horseradish and creole mustard, fried shrimp and oysters, and much more—along with an assorted panini station featuring ham and fig and duck with bacon jam. Adding a meaningful personal touch, Olivia—who works in her family’s seafood business—celebrated her roots by serving seafood sourced directly from her family’s company.

LaurenNeibauer and William Norwood marked the beginning of their marriage with a celebration filled with joy, intention, and the people who mean the most to them.
The couple first met in 2017 at The University of Alabama, when Lauren was heading into her senior year. Will, three years her senior, was already connected to her circle through mutual friends, one of whom later stood beside him as a groomsman.
Will proposed during a quiet getaway to Dauphin Island the weekend before Thanksgiving in 2024. Joined by their dog, Odin, the couple spent the weekend enjoying peaceful beach walks and evenings by a Solo Stove. On Saturday night, after grilling steaks—a nod to their very first date—Will proposed in a moment that was intimate and heartfelt.
The wedding day welcomed loved ones traveling from 13 states to celebrate. Lauren wore a strapless, fitted gown with a beautifully unique bodice, paired with a soft palette of light greens, creams, and whites. A memorable moment of the reception came when Lauren and her father shared the dance floor to Sweet Child O’ Mine, surrounded by cheering family and friends.
"We had so much food, and it was amazing: tenderloin, shrimp and grits, chicken, vegetables, and many sides to choose from. It was to die for amazing. I’ve always said the only things I really cared about for my wedding were the food, the band, and having the best time ever,” Lauren shared. With Fly By Radio keeping the dance floor packed all night, the celebration delivered on every one of those priorities.
The three-tier almond cake with strawberry filling was elegantly simple and finished with a sweet tribute to Odin. The newlyweds honeymooned in St. Lucia and now call Birmingham, Alabama, home.

Weldon and Chip Harrington’s wedding was less about a beginning and more about a beautiful continuation—of long friendship and a life intentionally lived.
What began as a meaningful connection evolved into a steady partnershipone of mutual respect, laughter, and ease.
“There was never a sense of urgency, only certainty,” B’Beth shared. “Chip and I have been dear friends for over 45 years before our relationship deepened into something more. We began dating seriously about a year and a half before the wedding. A lifetime of shared history, trust, and understanding made this chapter feel both natural and deeply grounded.”
B’Beth’s off-the-shoulder, ice-blue column gown reflected that same sense of intention—a blend of Southern elegance and Mediterranean influence inspired by the years she spent living in Greece. Timeless and effortless rather than ornate, it felt unmistakably her. “Refined, feminine, and comfortable,” she said. “More than anything, I felt beautiful, confident, and deeply joyful for this moment.”
Her vision for the day followed suit. A serene palette of blues, greens, and white set a Mediterranean-inspired tone while honoring their Southern roots. Organic elements—olive branches, eucalyptus, sage, fruit, and lush florals— created a setting that felt artful and welcoming. Florals by Wildflowers of Fairhope and a Greek-inspired menu by Kaitlin Horne of The Fairhope Inn brought the vision to life.
“The look in Chip’s eyes when he saw me walk around the corner is something I’ll never forget,” B’Beth said. Walking up the flower-lined aisle to Songbird, with Chip’s granddaughter Eleanor holding her hand, was especially moving. Family and friends gathered from around the world, creating a sense of love that was both intimate and expansive.
Hosting the celebration at The Fairhope Inn was extra special not only because our family and friends were there with us, but also because it felt like home with some of my art in the Polo Bar. “It was magical and fun—a day filled with joy, celebration, and gratitude,” B’Beth said.
Today, the couple divides their time between Santa Rosa Beach and Greece—creating home wherever they are… together.

Mixon and Greg Youngblood’s wedding was a joyful celebration rooted in friendship, family, and a love story that unfolded in its own time.
The two met several years ago and went on a few dates, including a Halloween party where they dressed as Steve and Blue from Blue’s Clues. A lasting friendship formed that continued for nearly three years. Everything changed when Kayla laughed at a Facebook post Greg made joking about the size of his forehead. From that moment on, the two became inseparable.
Greg proposed on Christmas morning by wrapping a pair of diamond earrings together with Kayla’s wedding band. As she focused on opening the box, he quietly got down on one knee— creating a surprise that felt effortless and deeply meaningful.
The ceremony and reception were held at The Balcony, where Kayla wore a polka dot jacquard gown by Alena Leena. Described by the designer as “a romantically light, yet minimalistic bustier gown,” the dress struck the perfect balance between modern elegance and timeless romance. A palette of dusty blue, green, and taupe set the tone for the day.

Laughter was never far away, especially during the first look, when Greg’s best friend surprised him by appearing in a wedding dress. One of the most meaningful elements of the ceremony was having Joe Cain officiate—an homage to Kayla’s late father, whose love of Mardi Gras shaped her childhood and was felt throughout the day.
The celebration concluded with a three-tier pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing, lovingly baked by Kayla’s mother using a cherished family recipe. The couple now calls Loxley home and looks forward to a honeymoon on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

For Katie and Lyons, the foundation of both their marriage and their business has always been mutual trust, admiration, and an unshakable belief in one another. From the beginning, each saw qualities in the other that made partnership—in every sense—feel natural.
“Lyons was the most optimistic person I’d ever met,” Katie recalled. “It’s always felt like we could accomplish anything together. Nothing was ever too difficult or daunting with him. He runs full force into life, so I knew he would do the same with the business when I asked him to join.”
Lyons felt the same certainty. “Katie is the epitome of style and grace,” he said. “She’s strong and witty, beautiful and charming, caring and engaging—and on top of all of that, she’s the smartest person I’ve ever met. I knew she was my person immediately.” What stood out most, he added, was her ability to truly listen and respond with intention.
Working side by side has only deepened that respect. Lyons has watched Katie give everything she has—personally and professionally—to create meaningful experiences for everyone around her. Katie, in turn, is still amazed that her sports-reporter husband left television behind to help her build a bridal business.
"We love to travel the world with our children, and taking our oldest two to Paris for our final babymoon was unforgettable. They still talk about roaming the halls of Versailles and the Louvre, going to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and dining at some of Paris’ finest restaurants. We’re already dreaming about our next adventure and trying to decide between Italy or London.”
Running a business together works because… we completely trust one another. We know we’re always working toward the same goals—and we have a blast doing it!

For Allison Beebe, creating beautiful spaces for life’s most meaningful moments is both a profession and a purpose. Alongside her husband, Daniel, Allison brought that vision to life with Apiary Fairhope, transforming the former home of The Mill in downtown Fairhope into an elegant, modern venue designed first and foremost for private celebrations—weddings, milestone moments, and gatherings that deserve thoughtful detail and timeless style.
When Apiary opened, Allison knew she wanted it to be more than just a private event space. While intimate celebrations remain at its heart, she and Daniel were intentional about occasionally opening the doors to the wider Fairhope community. Events like Holiday Hive, a free public holiday market held for the first time last November, invite locals to experience the space through artisan vendors, festive drinks, live music, and seasonal cheer. The venue also hosts curated events such as the Apiary Art Show, coming up on March 20-22, which showcases regional artists in a refined yet welcoming setting.

Though Allison supports the family’s other ventures through marketing and business development, Apiary is where her creative energy is most deeply invested. Behind the polished gatherings and beautifully orchestrated events is a mother balancing vision, leadership, and family with grace.
At home, Allison’s world is beautifully full. With three daughters—Elenora (7), Eloise (5), and Betsy (1 1/2)—no two days look the same, and that’s exactly how she likes it. Each girl brings her own personality and joy to the family dynamic, from ballet shoes and sparkles to giggles that keep everyone
laughing. Most days are filled with school drop-offs, activities, and the familiar rhythm of family life, but Allison treasures the simple moments most—park days, beach afternoons, impromptu dance parties, and cozy movie nights together.
That same sense of intention carries into Allison’s involvement at Christ the King Catholic School, where her family has found a strong sense of community. Drawing from their background in events, Allison and her husband, Daniel, have been able to give back in meaningful ways—helping expand fundraising efforts beyond campus, first at Belforest Pointe last winter and most recently at Apiary last month. Serving on committees and collaborating with fellow parents has been both fulfilling and impactful, allowing Allison to contribute her strengths while staying closely connected to her children’s world.
Balancing motherhood and business requires focus and flexibility. With her youngest still at home most days, Allison squeezes much of her work into short windows she affectionately calls her “naptime hustle.” Even during peak event season, family remains non-negotiable—dinner together, bedtime routines, and small traditions that ground their busy lives.
Through it all, Allison hopes her daughters see that building something meaningful takes effort, creativity, and heart—and that big dreams and family joy can grow side by side.
