What makes Bryant Bank different from other banks?

It starts with our ownership. We are a family-owned, family-run bank named after our founder. We make decisions based on long-term results which maximize the benefits to our customers. Our ownership structure attracts bankers who share the same cultural philosophy as our owners, which is to provide unbeatable service with legendary results. This includes local decision-making and personalized service from bankers who have long tenures here that create lasting relationships with our customers; and we actually call them by name. No call centers, no red tape. Just real neighbors building real relationships.

How does Bryant Bank support customers beyond basic banking?

We're not just here for deposits and withdrawals. We're your financial partner through every stage of life. Whether you're getting married and combining finances, expanding your business, setting up an account for a newborn, or planning for retirement, your Bryant Banker walks through it with you. We understand where you are and where you want to go, then work with you to build a plan that gets you there.

Bryant Bank Daphne Branch

1801 US Highway 98, Daphne, AL 36526 251.607.5750 | bryantbank.com

How does Bryant Bank impact its communities?

One of our core values is 'We Rise by Lifting Others,' and we live that out every day. Our Bryant Bankers serve on local boards, serve meals out of our Bryant Bank tailgater, and are actively involved in the causes that matter most to our communities. We also host non-profit events right here at the bank because we believe in using our resources to make a real difference.

What is Bryant Bank’s core mission?

Our mission is simple: We put care into action to help Alabamians invest in their full potential. That 'Alabamians' part is intentional. We're committed to serving only Alabama communities, and as a closely held, family-owned bank, we're not for sale. We're not chasing growth in other states or positioning ourselves to be bought. We're here for the long haul, investing in the people and places that make Alabama home.

COMMUNITY LEADER

Shaping the Future of Healthcare... A

s Dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Coastal Alabama Community College, Dr. Tiffany Scarborough is leading one of the region’s most dynamic healthcare education programs, preparing students to meet the growing workforce needs of south Alabama.

Dr. Tiffany Scarbrough

Under Dr. Scarborough’s leadership, Coastal Alabama’s Nursing and Allied Health programs continue to experience significant growth. The college currently offers programs in Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Services, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and Veterinary Technology. Additional programs are already on the horizon, with Radiologic Technology planned for the Gulf Shores Campus in 2027 and an Occupational Therapy Assistant program expected to launch at the Bay Minette Campus in 2028. “Our programs continue to grow, our partnerships continue to expand, and we remain committed to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals who will serve our communities with excellence,” Dr. Scarborough said.

18

SOCIAL EASTERN SHORE

A hallmark of the program is its emphasis on experiential learning. Students gain valuable hands-on experience in Coastal Alabama’s simulation laboratory, the only fully accredited simulation lab at an Alabama community college. The immersive environment allows students to develop clinical skills, build confidence, and practice patient care before entering hospitals, clinics, and emergency settings. Dr. Scarborough has also championed apprenticeship opportunities, particularly within the Nursing and Surgical Technology programs. These partnerships allow students to earn while they learn, gain real-world clinical experience, and build relationships with local healthcare employers, creating a seamless pathway from the classroom to the workforce. Meeting the growing demand for healthcare professionals remains at the heart of Dr. Scarborough’s vision. By expanding academic offerings and strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers throughout the region, Coastal Alabama Community College continues to play a vital role in preparing highly skilled professionals who will care for patients across the Gulf Coast for years to come.

For Dr. Scarborough, the mission extends beyond educating students. It is about strengthening communities by ensuring they have access to compassionate, well-trained healthcare professionals who are ready to make a difference from day one. What partnerships or initiatives are making the biggest difference in preparing students to enter today’s healthcare workforce? Our apprenticeship initiative has been one of our most impactful programs. In 2022, we launched the nation’s first Practical Nursing apprenticeship, followed by Registered Nursing and Surgical Technology apprenticeships, allowing students to earn while they learn. Equally important are our partnerships with clinical facilities that provide invaluable hands-on training and real-world experience. What do you hope graduates carry with them beyond technical skills, and what legacy do you hope to leave? I hope our graduates leave with compassion, a commitment to caring for others, and a strong work ethic. Since becoming Dean in 2022, my greatest reward has been watching students, faculty, and staff succeed. I strive to build a culture of high standards, fairness, compassion, and opportunity that strengthens both our students and the communities they serve.

ltaPointe Health is enhancing the region’s behavioral healthcare system through a major expansion at BayPointe Hospital in Mobile. This $15 million project, with $6 million funded by the Mobile County Commission through the American Rescue Plan Act, will add 34 adult psychiatric beds, increasing the hospital’s capacity from 104 to 138. The expansion is expected to be fully operational in the fall of 2026. BayPointe Hospital is one of AltaPointe Health’s two free-standing psychiatric hospitals, providing specialized behavioral healthcare throughout the region. The other, EastPointe Hospital, is in Daphne. Both hospitals are part of AltaPointe’s comprehensive continuum of care, which also includes a Behavioral Health Crisis Center, 22 community behavioral health clinics, and 10 primary care clinics. This network ensures individuals and families have access to care at every stage of their healthcare journey. AltaPointe Health delivers integrated behavioral and primary healthcare, providing more than 1.9 million services annually to 45,000 patients in seven Alabama counties. R

achael Harmon, M.D., a radiation oncologist at Southern Cancer Center’s (SCC) Daphne and Foley clinics, is helping bring a new treatment option to patients living with osteoarthritis: lowdose radiation therapy (LD-RT).

2026

What is osteoarthritis? Osteoarthritis occurs when protective cartilage within a joint breaks down over time, often causing inflammation, stiffness and pain that can make everyday activities increasingly difficult. How does LD-RT work? While radiation therapy is most often associated with cancer treatment, at much lower doses it has anti-inflammatory effects that can lessen osteoarthritis pain. By reducing inflammatory activity within affected joints, LD-RT may help decrease discomfort and improve function. What can patients expect? LD-RT may be used to treat osteoarthritis of the hands and fingers, knees, hips, ankles and shoulders. Treatment is painless and noninvasive, with sessions lasting less than 10 minutes during six to eight outpatient visits over two to three weeks. Studies have demonstrated pain improvement in more than 70% of patients following treatment, with many experiencing relief years later. Most insurance plans recognize LD-RT as a treatment option for osteoarthritis. “Living with osteoarthritis often means adapting your daily life around pain,” said Dr. Harmon. “When simple activities become difficult, it can take a real toll on a person’s independence and quality of life. Our goal is to help patients find meaningful relief so they can spend more time doing the things that matter most to them.”

DR. MICHAEL J. BINDON

DR. ALAN J. BABCOCK

What influenced your decision to specialize in emergency medicine?

What comment from a patient has touched you the most.

I get a special opportunity to be a friendly face for people of all walks of life on what is usually one of their worst days. The fast pace and variety of medical issues helps keep any day from becoming routine. I also enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork that occurs in a well-running emergency department or urgent care.

“You caught this”. When someone presents with something that is seemingly minor, but some detail leads down a path of a concerning diagnosis that was caught early, treated, and now healed. It is incredibly humbling that patients remember you, though you played a very small role in their treatment and keeps you vigilant.

DR. J.C. JACOBS V

DR. T. CHAD VANDERHEYDEN

What advice would you give to aspiring healthcare professionals?

Tell us a little about your practice. You will be taken care of by one of our board-certified physicians. They are passionate about urgent patient care and staying up to date on the ever-changing field of medicine. You can feel confident coming to Urgent Care by the Bay for your medical needs.

I tell young people that are considering medicine that there are easier and faster ways to make money, but if you are willing to endure the years of training, it can be a very satisfying career. It will not only provide for your family, but it is also something of which you can be very proud. I tell them that it isn't always the smartest student who succeeds, but the one who is willing to put in the work.

DR. TREY SIMMS Please share a defining moment in your career.

The care you and your family need… when you need it most.

The worried family of a young girl with special needs brought her in because she wasn’t using her arm, and they didn’t know why. After a quick maneuver to treat her dislocated elbow, she was back to normal. The relief that spread across the faces of the family after she started using her arm again was incredibly satisfying for me. It really felt like I had done something to make their lives better.

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

My journey into medicine was shaped early on by my parents, who always prayed for me to have a kind heart, a quality that naturally developed into a lifelong instinct to heal and nurture others. Blending this innate desire to care for people with my background in athletics and a deep passion for personal wellness, a career in healthcare was an incredibly natural path. For me, taking care of people isn't just a profession; it is an instinct. What advice would you give someone looking to improve their health and overall well-being? True well-being starts when you stop settling for just “normal” and start aiming for “optimal.” My best advice is to listen to your body instead of waiting for a clinical number to tell you something is wrong. Focus on the core pillars of vitality: prioritize hormonal health, commit to consistent physical movement that matches your athletic goals, and fuel your body correctly. Most importantly, advocate for your own health and partner with a provider who listens to your symptoms, because peak performance requires a proactive strategy, not reactive.

Vintage Affair Continues a Legacy of Hope

For more than 30 years, Vintage Affair has united the community in support of the American Cancer Society's mission to end cancer as we know it. One of the Gulf Coast's most enduring philanthropic events, Vintage Affair has raised more than $4 million to fund cancer research, provide transportation and lodging for patients, advance advocacy initiatives, and deliver critical services to individuals and families facing cancer. A key part of that success has been the longstanding support of Lexus of Mobile, which has proudly served as Presenting Sponsor for many years. At the heart of Vintage Affair is the Grand Patrons' Dinner, an intimate gathering that honors the organization's most committed donors. The late Herbert "Bert" Meisler was a devoted champion of the American Cancer Society and a driving force behind the Grand Patrons' Dinner for more than two decades. His vision and dedication helped establish the event as one of Mobile's most respected charitable traditions. Today, Ben and Laura Meisler, along with Neil and Helen Kennedy, carry that legacy forward. Their generosity sustains the Grand Patrons' Dinner and strengthens the American Cancer Society's efforts to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families. As Mobile continues to grow as a regional healthcare hub, Vintage Affair provides an opportunity to recognize the physicians, advocates, survivors, and volunteers making a difference throughout the Gulf Coast

THE SUPERMOMS LEADING THE

ehind every thriving community are mothers who generously share their time, talents, and hearts to make life better for others. Brooke Pilot and Aeana Carpenter are two of those women.

AEANA CARPENTER

Brooke is the co-founder of Chapel Farm Collection and has been actively involved in numerous local initiatives. She and her husband, Brandon, are parents to Bowen (8), Frances (7), and Fleming (5). Aeana has dedicated her time to organizations including Impact 100 Baldwin County, where she has served as a board member. She and her husband, Wesley, are parents to Quin (11) and Wells (9). All five children attend Bayside Academy, where both families remain actively involved. Brooke and Aeana are now serving as co-chairs of the inaugural Street Soirée, the Thomas Hospital Foundation's new signature celebration. Following more than three decades of the Grand Summer Ball, the Foundation entrusted them with launching its next chapter—an evening celebrating local food, live music, signature cocktails, and meaningful connections while raising vital support for the Foundation's mission. How has becoming a mother shaped your perspective on giving back and serving your community? Aeana: Motherhood has taught me the importance of compassion, leading by example, and creating a culture where kindness is lived out through service. I want my children to grow up knowing that giving back is simply part of who we are. Did your family's experience with Thomas Hospital influence your decision to co-chair the inaugural Street Soirée? Brooke: Absolutely! After welcoming our first two children at renowned hospitals in New York and Connecticut, we delivered our youngest child at Thomas Hospital. We truly 48

saved the best for last. The warmth, personal attention, and outstanding care reminded me how fortunate we are to have such an incredible hospital right here at home. Thomas Hospital has cared so well for our family, and I'm honored to give back to a place that means so much to families throughout our area. As a busy mom, your schedule is already full. What made saying "yes" to co-chairing this event so important? Aeana: Saying "yes" wasn't about finding more time. It was about making time for something that truly matters. As a mother, I have an even deeper appreciation for the role our local hospital plays in caring for families across the Eastern Shore. Brooke and I wanted Street Soirée to be more than a fundraiser. We wanted it to celebrate the people, purpose, and partnerships that make the Foundation so special while helping strengthen its mission for years to come. What do you hope people better understand about the Thomas Hospital Foundation after attending Street Soirée? Brooke: I hope Street Soirée brings together people of all ages who share a commitment to the future of the Eastern Shore. As our area continues to grow, so do the healthcare needs of our families. Supporting the Foundation is an investment in ensuring high-quality care remains close to home for all families in our community.

PEOPLE YOU SHOULD KNOW

A LEADER IN

As WILL WIGGINS

Chief Executive Officer of Baldwin Bone & Joint, Will Wiggins leads one of the Gulf Coast's premier orthopaedic practices with a vision centered on innovation, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. Under his leadership, the practice continues to expand alongside Baldwin County while remaining committed to delivering world-class orthopaedic care through a team of fellowship-trained physicians and an experienced clinical staff.

Will's passion for healthcare began in an unexpected way. During a childhood hunting trip, he watched a family friend who was a medical student clean a deer and was fascinated by his knowledge of anatomy and biology. That moment sparked an early interest in medicine, which later evolved into a passion for the business of healthcare and the opportunity to improve patient care through strong leadership. Today, Baldwin Bone & Joint is recognized as one of the highest patientrated orthopaedic groups in the Southeast. For Will, those patient outcomes and testimonials are the greatest measure of success. As one of the nation's fastest-growing communities, Baldwin County continues to create new opportunities for the practice to expand services and better meet the needs of local families.

Will's commitment to healthcare extends well beyond the office. He serves on the Board of Directors for Rapahope Children's Retreat Foundation, is the Immediate Past President of the Mobile Chapter of the Healthcare Leaders Association of Alabama, serves on the organization's state Board of Directors as South Alabama Member at Large, and has represented the University of South Alabama on its Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council since the age of 25. Through each role, he remains focused on strengthening healthcare and preserving the quality of life that makes Baldwin County such a special place. His leadership philosophy is grounded in personal accountability and integrity. "You only control your mind and emotions, not the events around you," he says. "Just do what you know is right, and let the rest take care of itself." He also believes great leadership begins at home, encouraging future leaders to build a strong partnership with their spouse and family. Outside of work, Will enjoys hunting, running, and listening to podcasts. Together, he and his wife have built a routine-centered family life that keeps him grounded despite the fast pace of healthcare leadership. It is that balance of purpose, service, and family that continues to guide Will.

BRIDE

ALLIE + GARRETT Photography by Ashleigh Donnelley

T

o mark the beginning of their forever, Allie Parvin and Garrett Bode celebrated with a wedding that was as colorful and memorable as their love story, featuring a bohemian aesthetic and bold shades of hot pink, turquoise, and aquamarine.

Although the couple had known of each other since high school, exchanging smiles in the hallway and social media connections, it wasn’t until years later that they truly connected. A wedding at Little Point Clear in Fairhope left such a lasting impression that when it came time to plan their own wedding, there was no question where they wanted to say “I do.” For her wedding day, Allie found her dream dress at Bliss Bridal in Fairhope. The sparkling mermaidstyle gown featured intricate lace, dramatic sleeves, and romantic detailing. Instead of a veil, she chose a flower crown created by Katherine Taylor of Jubilee Flowers.

While Garrett took charge of the music, food, and drinks, Allie focused on creating the wedding’s distinctive look. Working with Mary Megan Parker of MM Parker Events, she brought her dream to life. Vibrant florals, cascading hanging baskets, and hot pink fabric draped across the chapel arch created a striking contrast against the venue’s white backdrop. The dramatic installation became one of the most talked-about details of the celebration. Guests enjoyed an outstanding menu by Naman’s Catering, featuring crab cakes, slow-roasted beef brisket, bourbon-glazed chicken tenders, stuffed mushrooms, roasted parmesan potatoes, and more. Custom cakes by Sukar Bakes reflected the couple's personalities, from Garrett's coastal-inspired chocolate groom's cake featuring the Fairhope pier to Allie's elegant three-tier bridal cake with vanilla, strawberry, and caramel layers accented by a delicate lace-inspired design. One of the evening’s funniest moments came when a friend accidentally attended the wrong wedding down the road and shared stories about Garrett with complete strangers before realizing his mistake and finally making it to Allie and Garrett’s celebration. Following their unforgettable Fairhope wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in Cancun before returning home to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

STEADY CURRENT INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

Raspberry Shrub 500 g Raspberries 500 g Sugar 500 g Apple Cider Vinegar

Raspberry Shrub In a glass or stainless-steel bowl, combine 500g raspberries and 500g sugar. Lightly muddle to break the skins, cover, and refrigerate for 24–48 hours, stirring once or twice. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, gently pressing the fruit without forcing solids through the mesh to keep the shrub clear. Whisk in 500g apple cider vinegar until any remaining sugar dissolves. Bottle and refrigerate for 3–5 days to allow the vinegar to mellow and blend with the fruit.

Clarification Measure 20% almond milk by volume of the cocktail batch. Slowly pour the cocktail into the almond milk, stir gently, and let rest for 10–15 minutes until the milk curdles.
