Night Stalker Remembrance Trail

Story by Bethany Sigler The Night Stalker Remembrance Trail is a memorial for all fallen members of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). In 2009, it was an area that had been cleared with machetes so that soldiers could go to for a quiet moment of reflection and remembrance.

Today, the trail is unrecognizable from its humble beginnings. There are winding pathways, serene bridges, and benches to rest both heavy hearts and weary feet. The memorial trail has been built chronologically from start to finish with individual memorials for each Night Stalker killed in action or in training.

This is the second major renovation of the trail in the last six months. Each undertaking was coordinated through a collaboration between the Night Stalker Association, Families of Fallen Night Stalkers Organization, and the Lowe’s Helping Heroes Project. Lowes from across the region donated all of the planting and construction supplies along with $20,000 that went towards additional materials and memorials. The week’s events were brought to a ceremonious conclusion by the regiment commander and Congressman Mark Green.

Local business owners donated meals for soldiers and volunteers each day of the project. Lunch Sponsors Include: Veterans United Travis Electrical Service Hannah Price Danielle Stack
