CHAIRMAN’S CHAT PhilKidd
Penning this following the March Club Night, I was reminded by the reports from various members that one of the most enjoyable things we all do is appreciate and enjoy the pleasures derived by motoring our vehicles - be they two, three or four-wheeled. Indeed it is a good way to meet and make friends with a wide variety of people from all over the country. An example of this was in the recently completed Veteran/Vintage Tour where there were members from as far south as Gore and as far north as Warkworth. A perusal of our Club magazine, Beaded Wheels, gives a very good indication of just how much motoring is going on around the country and just how many events there are to go to. The forthcoming Highland Fling in April is one that many of our Branch Members will be attending. The onset of Autumn is already noticeable with the autumn tones becoming apparent quite early this year. Hopefully the recent rain experienced will be at an end so the Gymkhana can be enjoyed in fine weather!
My report on the recent Executive meeting held in Christchurch is included in this issue. The prospective survey alluded to as being commissioned by the Federation of Motoring Clubs has been postponed by eight weeks due to the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle –you will all be receiving it relatively soon. When the results have been received and collated I am picking that the findings will be significant and will demonstrate to Government the overall impact our hobby has on the economy of New Zealand.
I am conscious of the importance of there being continuity in representing the views of our Branch at both the AGM and the Executive Meeting, and for this reason I am seeking the support of one more person to attend these meetings. Please let me know if this is of interest to you as the election of Club officers is coming up yet again in June.
CHAIRMAN’S CHAT continued from page 5:
It is pleasing to welcome new members into our Club and I hope when you have the chance you will make them welcome. If appropriate, please provide them with help in locating parts and steer them in the right direction when special expertise is needed. So until then happy and safe motoring in whatever means of transport you choose.
Phil Kidd

Letter To Phil Kidd
Thanks Phil Kidd, for making your paddocks available for the Gymkhana on Sunday. It was a great day.
I'm sorry, but I took a whole load of grass and cow crap home with me, secreted under my guards and chassis. Would you like it back? If not, I can make some Adobe blocks out of it, for a retaining wall!!
