LA GARNACHA PERDIDA DEL PIRINEO, OUR NEW WINE
T
he ‘Project Garnachas of Spain’, continues to grow, it’s just that at Vintae we have one weakness, we are garnacha lovers, unable to hold back when we find out about a special vineyard of this variety we like so much. La Garnacha Perdida del Pirineo is the sixth wine in the collection and is elaborated with grapes from an organic
vineyard situated in Uncastillo, in the north of the province of Zaragoza, just 40 kilometers from the Pyrenees. These very low production vineyards are planted at 800 meters above sea-level and grown with virtually no intervention or treatment. The result is a balanced, fresh wine with pleasant tannins, the maximum expression of the most Atlantic Garnacha from Aragón.

HARVESTING IN SPRING IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE: VINTAE’S ADVENTURE IN CHILE
F
or the past three years, every February a group of Vintae explorers travel to Chile in search of the best vineyards of the oldest varieties in Chile to produce the wines for the Küdaw collection. This is the name chosen for our Chilean wines, a word that means “the work of the land” in the Mapuche language. In this third vintage the search has been even more
complicated due to the serious fires that have affected central and southern Chile, destroying real treasures in the form of vineyards more than two centuries old. Nonetheless many of the ancient vineyards that led us to cross the ocean to elaborate wine in the southern hemisphere still remain. Very soon you will be able to try the first vintage, which is already crossing the Atlantic on its way to Spain.

Our portal dedicated to the process of winemaking from the vineyard to the winery has been renewed and we are launching the second season, where we continue bringing the world of wine to the consumers in an educational and fun way. This season we will delve into elaboration processes and caring for the vine. In the first two episodes, already available online, we can learn about the artisan process of manufacturing oak barrels and large wooden vats for fermentation.

e continue to reap success in major international competitions such as Mundus Vini, held in Germany as the prelude to Prowein. In the 2017 edition we obtained two gold medals with El Pacto 2014 (DOC Rioja) and Aroa Jauna 2013 (DO Navarra) and a silver with Mítica Reserva 2012 (DO Ribera del Duero).

PROJECT GARNACHAS “ON TOUR” AROUND THE ASSOCIATIONS OF SOMMELIERS IN SPAIN At Vintae we intend to spread our “garnachism” right around the globe and at this, the beginning of the year we have already begun with the Associations of Sommeliers in Spain. We will tour the country from north to south and from east to west to publicize our “Proyecto Garnachas de España” among the most passionate wine professionals. We’ve already been highly successful with our visits to the Association of Sommeliers of Salamanca, the Association of Sommeliers of Segovia, the Madrid Association of Sommeliers and the Association of Sommeliers of Cantabria.

et again this year our wines were present at one of the most star-studded nights for the Spanish film industry. Actors, actresses, directors and cinema journalists toasted the future of Spanish cinema with Lopez de Haro on January 25, at the Feroz Awards gala, organized by
the Association of Cinematographic Informers, in keeping with the style of the American Golden Globe Awards. The big winner of the night was Raúl Arévalo with his film “Tarde para la ira” with the much-loved Paco León also receiving a statuette for “Kiki, el amor se hace”.
