KINGSLEY & BALTHAZAR GOTS - 100% ORGANIC COTTON

Here at Vinga we work continually to improve our production and choice of materials. Many of our organic cotton products are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard – GOTS. This is a standard which guarantees the organic status of the products and includes social criteria

throughout the entire supply chain. GOTS was developed via a collaboration between leading designers. The aim was to define requirements for international approval with respect to environmental and socially responsible production, and encompasses the entire production process; from farming

to weaving and dyeing. A textile product which bears the GOTS label must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres. In order to be labelled “organic” the garment must contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres. All chemicals, such as dyes and processing elements, must fulfil the standard’s particular environmental and toxicological criteria. Units for wet processes must keep a comprehensive register of the use of chemicals, energy and water consumption and purifying of waste water, including disposal of sludge. The social criteria stipulated in the standard, which are

based on central norms set out by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), must be fulfilled by all parties in the production of the product. Cotton certified by GOTS is traceable right back to the farm where it was grown. By means of GOTS labelling the customer is given a credible assurance that the organic garment is genuinely organic and that it has been ethically manufactured.
