They are works that did not fit into the main portfolio due to length constraints or cases more of a personal passion rather than academic research. Architecture, as an art form and a functional discipline, shapes the physical environment in which we live, work, and interact. It is a reflection of society's values, cultural heritage, and aspirations. Architectural design, often regarded as a harmonious blend of science and art, combines creativity and engineering to create structures that serve both utilitarian and aesthetic purposes. Architecture spans a wide spectrum, encompassing various styles, periods, and functions. From classical and neoclassical buildings characterized by ornate columns and symmetrical facades to the sleek, minimalist lines of modern architecture.

Spacial experience

As covered with tree branches and the extending view of the slopes, the site become interesting, the spacial experience of here is not found in other places in TKU. I decided to takes this advantage, design a pavilion that hopefuly let the people aware the of this unique space.

Lumination and view

One of the most iconic scene of Tamkang is it prosperous greens. Most of the trees are Banyans, all are more than 20 years old. Due to their age, they’ve grown large and many interesting patterns can be found. Especialy, the ones in site grown recklessly. They provide students a shadow to rest and form a hallway to various buildings. Thier fascinating features and importance gave me the concept of the pavillion.

Altered Altered to met the structural strength, and able to combine infinitely. Using steel as bone structure and wood as secondary and decorative skin.

Form study

One of the hub in school, site’s route of people is complicated, yet with order. I’ve tried to embed an divice in the order, not disturbing it while providing a spot to rest.

Using the idea of Banyan tree, I’ve use wood to mimic a silent movement of a tree, a twist of force, yet offering a place to rest.

Other Projects

Base surface process Using analyzed data, the shape of the basic shape is determined. In addition, studying ergonomics, I made the surface top accesible.

Final product Adding seats and stairs to enhance the accessbility and funtion, while maintaining the form. The wide gap between allows people to walk through without difficulties.

Pavilion Early render Combining previous works, the semi-final image of the pavilion is done, though after a few more study, I removed the hole in center and add a supporting steel structure beneath.

Incorporating elements of minimalism and modernism, the building's design emphasizes simplicity and elegance. Neutral color palettes, often punctuated by bold accents, contribute to a sense of timelessness. A focus on spatial efficiency ensures that every square inch serves a purpose, offering a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment. Upon entering, visitors are transported to a different time, as they step into meticulously designed interiors that exude warmth and opulence. High ceilings, adorned with intricate moldings, create an air of grandiosity, while chandeliers and period-specific furnishings evoke the charm of yesteryears. Elaborate frescoes and hand-painted murals grace the walls, telling stories of history and culture.

Architectural elements such as columns, arches, and domes have transcended time and continue to inspire contemporary designs. The use of materials, whether traditional like stone and wood or modern like steel and glass, contributes to the texture and character of a structure.

Although being in the centre of Yunlin’s heritages, the preservation of historical buildings has no progress

Bring life to the place by series of programs, which in turn, bring funds and attention

Governmaent aid the process of preserving village’s herritage

Being known for it’s historical value and preserving, the site became a model for herritage preservation.

Being in the centre of Hu-Wei’s historic circle, prividing info of other sites is an option.

Located in the cetre of Yunlin, the site can be the first stop for visiting, raising it’s awareness. (The newly finished HSR Yunlin station further improves the location advatage of the site.)

Other than usual exhibition, during weekend or feild trip from nearby school, can arrange story tellers, telling stories of the village that isn’t on book.

Set up markets in weekends, show all kinds of innovative products of Yunlin ( Rice dessert, coffee cake etc.). This way, not only can it attract people, but also promote local industry’s transformation.

There are also residents near by the site, providing a place to communicate and relax can improve relationship between residents, which is good for preserving site having the locals’ support.

Architectural innovation has pushed the boundaries of design, resulting in sustainable and environmentally conscious structures that respond to the pressing global challenges of our time. Buildings can be passive or active participants in the quest for energy efficiency and eco-friendliness.

By placing various programs in site, not only can it bring crowd, but also make residents in nearby town a place to visit and bring kids in free hours.

Using developed concept, the interior space and ppearance are meant to let the user have a similar experience with the unique architecture in the historical site.

Visitor’s Center The contemporary architectural masterpiece stands as a testament to the harmonious fusion of form and function. Its striking silhouette, characterized by clean lines and innovative design elements, captivates the eye and leaves a lasting impression on all who encounter it. The structure seamlessly marries cutting-edge materials with a profound commitment to sustainability, resulting in an eco-friendly and energy-efficient building that showcases the latest advancements in architectural technology. Position

Each entity‵ｓ position are calculated making the structure stable.

Studying from Cases To make the flat plan into a 3D construct, I set up a set of rules to define which action should be done on which feature. I made rules that can defferenciate the rarity of the lines, and correspondingly the actions these rarer lines should partake is more drastic. The definition of a “Blue” is when one has multiple nodes and other lines that begins on it. “Green” are defined by lines that include verticle sections that did not cross more than 3 other lines. And “Red” stands for rest.The action that a “Blue” should take is folding 90 degrees. “Green” should platforplatformdevelope upward.

Route

Although on the outer side the structure look complicated, but the route inside is relatively simple.

Window

The window of this structure is sharp-pentagon shape, making the light pouring in stable, which is good for interior design desplay.

The simple shape of the outer window makes the light pouring in stable, therefore serves great as a furniture display.The windows in the conjunction point of two entity allow the light from upper level goes inthe lower structure, lighten the dark in the middle of the rectangular entity.

One entity always lay on atleast two other entitys, this stablize the high-structure.Entitys inlays into each other, this also makes the structure more stable. Now, not only thecable of hold the structure but also the walls.

But the window can also serves as a guide to the visitors, the big window can attrack people,pulling people form a side to another.

The inlaying of the entitys also serves other function. Visitors can see another structure isright above/beneeth them, it makes visitors ＂ feel＂themselves are actuallyin the enormous structure, rather than just being in a room.

Guided route Using the prior analyze, I developed it to extreme. I use the transformed entity to form a new structure.

Guided route The route of Vitrahaus if see as a whole is a counterclockwise rotation,the first level′sroute will incept the “counterclockwise route”into the visitor′s sub-conscious, which makes the visitor knowing where to go in higher level. The position of the stair also serves as an guidance to the route, the stairs are usually located in the side of the rectangular entity, the sub-conscious of the visitor will be guided to the long way of the hall. Using the visitor′s view as starting point, I draw lines to mimic visitor′s sight, result in a triangular entity, a enhanced guided entity.

This structure′s function aren′t residentual, nor commercial. But rather a space of silence and reflect, ponder and organize, experience and meditation.

“Distortion” People’s perception of environment will slowly fade as time passes, soonor later, leaving only a faint, simple impression. This phenomenon might be caused by the lack of feeling of environment and planarization. However, if we insert an constant variable, or a medium that react and magnify the variable, therby enabling people to conduct or observe new and different interaction, it might be possible that a space to not be repeating and dull to the everyday user as days went. Program Architecture, as an art form and a functional discipline, shapes the physical environment in which we live, work, and interact. It is a reflection of society's values, cultural heritage, and aspirations. Architectural design, often regarded as a harmonious blend of science and art, combines creativity and engineering to create structures that serve both utilitarian and aesthetic purposes. Architecture spans a wide spectrum, encompassing various styles, periods, and functions. From classical and neoclassical buildings characterized by ornate columns and symmetrical facades to the sleek, minimalist lines of modern architecture.

“Distortion” If this design were in a different location, had environmental factors or conditions, it would be very different from the final product. Because this is in essence a designing method prototype that evolved and developed based on a space-altering “Distortion” system I developed and brought into a blank slate. If there are different sites and buildings that may be viable to use this set of “Distortion” method, it can be used as a basis and applied to that design.

Part-time Jobs Architects frequently explore cutting-edge materials and construction techniques, seeking innovative solutions that enhance sustainability, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Sustainable architecture aims to minimize the environmental footprint of buildings. It emphasizes energy efficiency, renewable resources, and responsible design to mitigate the impact on the planet.

Side Projects Architecture often reflects and preserves cultural and historical elements, serving as a testament to a society's heritage. It's a means of conveying traditions, values, and identity. Practicality is a cornerstone of architectural design. Architects prioritize the functionality of structures, ensuring they meet the needs of the users while remaining efficient and comfortable.

Designing Joints To make the flat plan into a 3D construct, I set up a set of rules to define which action should be done on which feature. I made rules that can differentiate the rarity of the lines, and correspondingly the actions these rarer lines should partake is more drastic.

Graphic Designs The principle of "form follows function" underscores the idea that a building's design should be shaped by its intended purpose. It's a core concept in architectural design, emphasizing that aesthetics should support utility. Successful architecture seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. Architects consider the topography.
