Rick and his wife, Eve, have lived in Palos Verdes Estates since 1985 and are members of Palos Verdes Golf Club where Rick has served as a past president. He loves golf and plays twice a week since retiring 23 years ago from Capital Group. Rick served on several boards, including board president for Catholic Big Brothers, Big Sisters and board member at L.A. Biomed (now The Lundquist Institute). For the past 10 years he has been a board member on the Torrance Memorial Foundation Board.
Rick says he is very fortunate to live in such a nice area with his two sons and their families living within walking distance. His work with the hospital can be summed up this way: “I am proud to support Torrance Memorial Medical Center, the jewel of the South Bay, and one of the best hospitals in the country.”

A Bigger, Better Emergency Department Is on the Way
The Torrance Memorial two-story Emergency Department expansion is well underway and is expected to open in spring 2027. On the second floor, framing is bringing patient rooms and care areas to life, while critical infrastructure—upgraded electrical and data systems, plumbing, fire sprinklers and a modern pneumatic tube system—is being installed behind the scenes.
A critical component of the project is enhancing the triage
experience, to speed patient assessments and improve flow during busy times. Construction to expand the number of triage bays began last fall and is expected to be completed this spring.
Throughout construction, the ED remains fully operational with a temporary triage area. When complete, the expanded space will deliver more capacity, greater efficiency, and advanced technology to better serve the community.
