Hi there!

My name is Vincent de Bel and I’m a UX Designer from the Netherlands. I recently graduated in Communication & Multimedia Design at the Hogeschool of Utrecht.

My passion for drafting and realizing digital concepts for people cannot be

stopped. Each project is a challenge in itself and I enjoy the gift of making people happy with my solutions, getting everything out of it. I cannot envision more fun than working together with nice people and realize great concepts!

Buurtbord The Alliantie is a housing corporation from the Netherlands.

Together with a class mate, I got the assignment from the digital agency TamTam to develop a concept for an app that would enhance the self-reliance of Alliantie neighbourhood residents.

Share with your neighbourhood Buurtbord (neighborhood information dashboard) is a mobile app for Alliantie residents, helping to become more self-reliant, meaning that the Alliantie is not to be contacted for the least of problems. The Buurtbord app enables residents to share notiďŹ cations within the neighborhood regarding garbage nuisance, noise, need to repair, safety and local events. In this way users of the app become able to solve problems that arise in their neighborhood by themselves.

Process For the realization of Buurtbord there have been a number of phases. First, we conducted a thorough study of the target audience in order to find out the most frequent cause of nuisance among residents. Based on these investigations we developed the concept of a digital dashboard for a neighborhood, the ‘Buurtbord’, with a style that resembles the signboards in the hallways of the residential complexes. Finally, we produced various alternative designs which have been used to demonstrate a prototype for an app to TamTam. Both the teachers and TamTam ware so much pleased by the result, that on top of high marks, we were rewarded with a traineeship at TamTam for our next project.

Grand’Italia Grand'Italia is the A-brand for authentic Italian products in the Netherlands. Not before the end of my second week as a trainee at TamTam in Amsterdam I was granted full responsibility to realize the complete UX Design for a new Grand’Italia App. Role

Cook, taste and experience With the help of the Grand’Italia ‘Pasta Maestro’ app the customer can discover and prepare authentic pasta dishes. Stories about Italian cuisine can inspire to engage in the challenge to become a true Pasta Maestro by preparing the 7 classical pasta dishes. Moreover, the app offers a digital shopping list and step by step guidance in the preparation of each and every type of pasta.

Process I was really honored when I learned at the beginning of my internship that I would be the one to realize the UX design for the new app for Grand’Italia: an exclusive app for Grand’Italia helping the user to prepare authentic dishes. Within the design process I have been responsible for formulating the User Stories, thinking up relevant features and designing the screens. During this iterative process I have conducted various end user test. Grand’Italia was a demanding customer, but in the end I learned a lot, and I am proud of the result!

Wasdatmaarzo.nl The idea for Wasdatmaarzo.nl emerged during a minor in entrepreneurship for my education in Communication and Multimedia design. The assignment was to start a ďŹ ctitious company with a feasible business model.

Never again laundry The digital service wasdatmaarzo.nl enables users to outsource laundry, ironing and dry cleaning to local service providers. Laundry service providers can publish their offerings and users can review the service providers. The ordering, transport and payment logistics were to be managed by ‘wasdatmaarzo.nl'.

Process The idea behind ‘wasdatmaarzo.nl’ resulted from our own experience. All students in our group hated doing the laundry. During our research, we found out that current habits in the Nederland are based on handling laundry with one’s own washing machine. Most people appeared not to be aware of the existence of all kinds of laundry services that also offer pickup and delivery. Especially businessmen, working couples, pregnant women, people with money and the elderly expressed their need to this kind of service. I have been responsible for conducting research, the digital concept, user interface design and delivering a pitch of our idea. In the end, the case was rated with high marks, and we were granted the prize for the best concept and business plan.

rezzle.nl

Rezzle.nl Rezzle.nl was conceived in discussions with a friend of my brother who was setting up a webshop selling Macbooks. He asked me to design and to develop his webshop.

Simple and clean Rezzle.nl is a simple and clean webshop where you can order the newest kind of MacBooks for the lowest prices of the Netherlands. It concerns American MacBooks which are slighlty more advantageously compared to Dutch MacBooks. Customer satisfaction and service are Rezzle’s highest priority. Rezzle is proud to show more than 100 positive reviews on the websites of Tweakers and Marktplaats.

Process Rezzle.nl has been a freelance project in addition to my normal work. It took some consultation and proposals before we agreed upon a proper look and feel for the site.

The website had to be consistent and simple. For inspiration, I used the material design guidelines from Google. The webshop module has been realized using the tools of Jimdo.

Within this framework I developed the front-end elements. The website has been well received and the customer has already sold a lot of Macbooks!

Skipper TVM is the largest freight insurance company within the Netherlands.

They asked digital agency TamTam to develop a digital business concept that would help inland skippers. This project was used for my bachelor graduation in Communication and Multimedia Design.

Safety and ease Skipper serves to promote safety and convenience for inland skippers.

The mobile app displays actual water levels and other detailed waterway features on sailing maps. In addition, Skipper provides a sailing plan feature, enabling the skipper to make a safe sailing plan using real time information. Goal is to reduce damage, with skippers being well prepared for their journey.

Process For the process of Skipper I have been responsible for the preliminary research, concept, UX design and user testing. In the beginning I knew almost nothing about the world of inland water freight transport. I soon found out that an enormous amount of damage is caused by human failure, mostly from collisions or avoidable motor damage.

Starting from the assignment by TVM I developed a digital concept aimed at damage prevention. Finally I worked out all functional and design features for an app. After user testing I presented the ďŹ nal proposal at TVM’s headquarters. This demonstration was received so well that the company decided to grant the assignment for realization of the concept to TamTam on the spot!

Noisia Noisia is a Dutch drum-and-bass & Neurofunk band from Groningen.

During a party in in the Czech capital Prague I got in touch with this great band. In an enjoyable conversation with their manager we came to the idea of renewing the current website of Noisia.

A brand new website The current website of Noisia shows what they want to show. However, the website is completely outdated. The new website will be more user-friendly and will also represent the feeling that comes from Noisia. For a start, the user will see the most important information such as tour dates, merchandise and news, but the new website will also have to contribute to a better user experience within the overall picture that ďŹ ts Noisia.

Process How awesome! Since I was 14 years old I have been listening to the music of Noisia, and then 10 years later I meet them in person at a party in Prague! One of the most exciting projects so far. Within the Process of Development of Noisia's new website, Currently we are at the beginning of this phase and I am working on the design in close contact with the customer. When the design will be done, I will be working on programming the new website. The plan is also to develop an easy CMS for the customer so that they can customize the content by themselves.

Flatlandgaming is a company founded by me and my brother in order to develop mobile games. My brother is responsible for coding and I am working on designing game concepts, storytelling and visual designs.

Ninja game Currently we are developing our ďŹ rst game. For now I cannot be too speciďŹ c about the game, but I can already share some screenshots and explain the game. The game is about a ninja that must destroy monsters for payment. In the game you have to shoot balls at monsters that split into two smaller variants until they are completely gone. When all monsters are ďŹ nally done with, the player has won the current level and gets a reward.

Process In this project I am focusing on character and background design, animations and UX design. Together with a former conservatory student, I also realize music for our ďŹ rst game. So far, the app is already playable as a prototype and we received a lot of positive comments. With this so called free time project, I am able to develop myself in multiple design areas, without constraints in time and money. The idea is to make more games with my brother in the future!
