What is a Frog? Frogs are amphibians with smooth skin, strong back legs, and bulging eyes. They can live both in water and on land.

Where Frogs Live Frogs live almost everywhere! From ponds and rainforests to deserts and grasslands, frogs can survive in many different environments.

Frog Anatomy Frogs have powerful back legs for jumping, webbed feet for swimming, and moist skin that helps them breathe. Their big eyes give them great vision.

What Frogs Eat Frogs are carnivores.

They eat insects, worms, and even small fish. They use their long, sticky tongues to catch prey.

Tadpoles

Frogs start life as eggs in water. When they hatch, they become tadpoles with tails and gills for breathing.

Life Cycle As tadpoles grow, they develop legs and lungs. Soon, they become froglets, and finally adult frogs.

Frog Families

Some frogs live alone, but many gather near ponds and streams. During rainy seasons, groups of frogs fill the air with their croaks.

Jumping and Swimming Frogs are expert movers.

They can leap great distances on land and swim quickly underwater.
Frog Communication Frogs croak to call for mates or defend their territory. Some species can be heard from over a mile away!

Record-Breaking Frogs

The Goliath frog is the largest frog in the world, weighing up to 7 pounds. The tiny tree frog is one of the smallest, barely an inch long.

Fun Fact Frogs can breathe and drink water through their skin!
