LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists low-income households by offsetting the rising cost of home energy through direct financial assistance, energy counseling, outreach and education.

An overdue bill or disconnect notice is not required to receive LIHEAP assistance. Emergency assistance is available to eligible households whose utility service has been disconnected and for homeowners whose furnace is non-operational or determined unsafe to operate.

HELP KEEP SNOW OFF THE STREETS | Bensenville Winter Parking Ordinance VILLAGE CODE 5-2-18 SPECIFIES THE FOLLOWING: A. It is unlawful to park or allow to remain any vehicle on any portion of any public street or highway following a snowfall of two inches (2”) or more for a period of twenty four (24) hours, snow, whichever or until the streets have been cleared of snow, period is less.

Village of Bensenville conducted The Village a community satisfaction survey in November and December of 2011.

The survey results indicated that 79% of residents believe the V Village illage is headed in the right direction. Three years have passed and we will be conducting another survey this year year..

Your input is an important part of the Your Village’s on-going effort to involve Village’s citizens in long-range planning and investment decisions.

A random sample of 2,000 residents will receive a confidential survey administered by the ETC Institute in the coming months. Fenton staff and administrators, District 100 Board of Education members, parents, students and community members have been involved in a Facilities Committee to research, set goals and develop a long-range building renovation plan. The committee formed in 2013 and worked together to create a facility plan to enhance the educational experience for every Fenton student.

Student safety remains our main priority priority.. Fenton will be in full compliance of new construction building codes which will also include upgrading current main hallways with sprinklers to increase the fire protection provided to students.

The renovation is broken down into five areas: instructional commons, formal instruction, resource, transition and professional support. The construction project is set to begin in June 2015 with an estimated completion date of January 2016. The project is anticipated to cost between 11 and 12 million dollars and will be paid for with a combination of O’Hare money money,, districts savings and bond dollars.

VEI is a new course at Fenton that teaches students about business, entrepreneurship, finance, economics and technology through a task-based curriculum and hands-on activities. FENTON DANCE FORCE SHOWCASE The Fenton Dance Force will host a dance showcase Saturday,, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. in fundraiser on Saturday the Lewis-Huffman Auditorium at Fenton. Several performances will highlight the many talented dancers on the Fenton Dance Force. TTickets ickets are $5 in advance door.. Last February February,, the Fenton Dance and $6 at the door Force, under the direction of Katherine Payton, won the Metro Suburban Conference Championship for the second consecutive year and placed third at the Illinois Association’ss (IHSA) Competitive Dance High School Association’ State Finals. A total of 228 teams competed last year with only 30 moving on to the state level. The group was the only team in the final ten to perform a hip hop routine making them the best hip hop squad in Illinois.

Blackhawk Middle School students returned this year to exciting renovations, and more are being planned for next summer summer.. The 2014 renovations were highlighted by a new new,, safer lobby that improves visitor screening. Elsewhere, new gym lockers were installed, new lighting and bleachers were added in the gymnasium, and 49-year old restrest rooms were renovated and brought to modern standards.

For 2015, the District’ District’ss architects are already drawing renovation plans for the library and auditorium. An exciting new library is planned for the north end of the building where technical education rooms are now located. New work areas for teams large and small, not possible in the current space, will be created. There will be small spaces for group projects like video production and large open work spaces to hold entire classrooms of students. In the auditorium, new seating, carpets, and sound system will prepare the room for decades more of music and theater productions. And in the former library location, four new classrooms will be built, one of them focused on art, and another specially designed for Blackhawk’ Blackhawk’ss new program emphasizing science, technology technology,, engineering, and math.

In February 2015, the Board of Education will receive bids and make final decisions about each proposed project, and the selected projects will occur from June to August 2015

LEARNING 21ST CENTURY SKILLS THROUGH LEGO ROBOTICS Blackhawk students build and test real robots in the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Program. Students brainstorm in order to find creative solution to problems, and then develop their ideas through a process of selecting, buildbuild ing, testing, and evaluating them. The program teaches the iterative process in engineering design and gives almost-instant feedback in problem solving.

Students develop advanced computational thinking skills while having hands-on fun. The program is a fun and unique way to teach the Next GenGen eration Science Standards and the Common Core Math and ELA Standards.

Bensenville District 2 Joint Committee on Educational Excellence includes equal representation of district administration and teachers from the Bensenville Education Association. The members of this committee have worked to design a new teacher evaluation plan that goes well beyond the Illinois Performance Evaluation Reform Act. BSD2’S BUDGET ADOPTED The District’ District’ss 2014-15 budget, adopted in September September,, showcases the District’ District’ss strong financial position. OpOp erating expenditures (all costs except construction) are less than revenues. Construction costs at TTioga ioga and renovation costs at Blackhawk are being paid for from savings that arose in prior years thanks to the District’ District’ss careful spending. The District benefits from having fewer students per teacher than nearly all other DuPage districts, and does it while maintaining costs equal to the average among DuPage districts. The District’ District’ss administrative costs are lower per student than in over half the other school districts in Illinois.

It is my pleasure to announce that as of 10.1.2014 we have expanded your paramedic services to include the staffing of our Engines with paramedics and advanced life support equipment. The Engines were approved as non-transport vehicles by Loyola Emergency Medical Services EMS System and The Illinois Department of Public Health. This means that the residents of Bensenville Fire Protection District will have paramedics on scene with equipment even when the fire district MEDIC units are busy or out of town at various hospitals and we have mutual aid ambulances responding from other communities to assist us. This is a service that we also provide to other communities.

The purpose of the re-evaluation is to rate the effectiveness of fire agengies to respond to and deter suppress fires. The fire insurance premiums of residential and commercial properties are based on the rating deterDistrict’ss rating improved from a Class 4 to a Class 2 (on a 10 point scale as shown in the graph mined by ISO. The District’ below with a rating of 1 being the best). As a result of the improved rating, the Bensenville Fire Protection District is among the top 2% of the fire departments and fire protection district in the United States.
