The Bensenville Library is proud to welcome Cristina Henríquez for our tenth annual Bensenville Reads program. Each year, the Library selects a book to promote reading in the community, and invites the author to a Bensenville Reads celebration. This year you are invited to read The Book of Unknown Americans and join the Bensenville Library for an evening with Cristina Henríquez on Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00 pm. Come and join us for a fun-filled day! Parents can shop the craft show while kids get their faces painted, play games and make a scarecrow to take home. We will also be having a bake sale and a chili cook off, as well as a food booth with walking tacos, sweet corn, brats, burgers, and more! First United Methodist Church of Bensenville is located at 328 S. Church Road.

Celebrate autumn and the Halloween season with us!Join us at the Korthauer Log House for spooky stories around the campfire by storytellers from GreenMan Theatre Troupe, s’mores making, and more! The event is split into two parts, 6-7:30 pm is family-friendly and spooky stories are safe for all ages, and 8-9:30 pm we welcome adults 16 and up to come out as the stories get a little scarier! No registration is required for this event. The Korthauer Log House is located at 900 W. Wood Street in Bensenville.

FRIGHT NIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 @ THE BENSENVILLE THEATRE Gremlins @ 7:00 pm and The Lost Boys @ 9:15 pm

Join us for our fourth annual Fright Night Double Feature at the Bensenville Theater on Thursday, October 29 at 7 pm. This year we will feature a costume contest, face painting, and a collection of Gremlins collectibles! As always we will feature one family friendly movie and one for the adults. Our living history programs at the Korthauer Log House are expanding and we need your help! We are accepting donations of items that can help us travel back in time. Please consider helping our educational programs by donating any of the following items: Floor loom | Dry sink | Chest of drawers | Pitcher and basin (solid color, white or cream) | Kitchen items such as utensils, cups, crockery containers, etc. (pre-1900’s) | Old fashioned clothes pins | Oil lanterns and wicks | Toys and dolls | Books We will be happy to accept anything that would belong on farm from the 1840’s to the 1890’s. If you’re not sure about the time frame of an item, give us a call anyway; we’ll take a look. Thanks for helping us preserve our past!
