Shepperton Residents Association
By Carl Phillips
Currently, Shepperton Residents’ Association is in the process of making a couple of important changes. Firstly, we need to devise a more effective way of collecting subscriptions. This will be in addition to manual collection by our street stewards, who will also continue to distribute the newsletter – Shepperton Topics. We will also review the current price of a subscription. Secondly, we are in the process of setting up a Facebook page for the Association, to bring the SRA in contact with a greater number of residents. These two initiatives are currently being developed by members of the committee to bring us more in line with some of the other Residents’ Associations in the area. There will be more about this in the next edition of Shepperton Matters. French Brothers will provide a passenger boat to join the flotilla for those non-boat owners who want to join in. This has been organised by Councillor Vivienne Leighton and helpers. Further information can be found at platinumpageant@leightons.me.uk or by calling Vivienne on 07914 413396 or Colin on 07999 516199. Many thanks go to Vivienne for this event. There is also a meal being arranged at the Greeno Community Centre among other events, and I believe, many residents are arranging their own street parties… so there will be a royal jubilee in Shepperton ! In the meantime, please go out, meet and chat with your friends and neighbours and your local Shopkeepers in the High Street! Enjoy Shepperton!

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Spelthorne council initially planned to place a Jubilee event in Manor Park on the weekend of 4th/5th June. This was then subsequently changed to a Lale-
ham Park Jubilee Event on Saturday
4th June from 11.00am to 4.00pm. - Do go along and have some fun! Our own Village Fair will be in Manor Park on the following weekend – 11th June, so this change may well be beneficial to the attendance at the Village Fair. On Thursday, June 2nd - at 4.00pm –starting at Shepperton Lock - there will be a Shepperton Jubilee Pageant on the river, with a flotilla of boats sailing between Shepperton and Sunbury and back to the Weybridge Mariners for an evening event, with food and entertainment (Tickets - £10.00). It is planned that Carl Phillips, Chair, Shepperton Residents’ Association
Mrs Kaye Patel (fully insured & DBS checked – based in Shepperton) purrfectathome826@gmail.com call on 07903 657539

Jubilee celebrations have started!
I attended my first jubilee celebration way back on May 18th! It could not have been a better early summers afternoon and residents, staff and guests enjoyed an afternoon tea with prosecco, sandwiches and little sweet treats. We were at Churchill’s Riverview Lodge in Shepperton. The communal living room had been decked out with bunting and union flags, as well as a cut out of the Queen. I have a feeling this was to be the first of many such events and I was glad to be a part of it. And we love the latest post box toppers. This one is in Laleham Road.

Gwen’s Civic pride
In last month’s magazine we reported on the civic awards given to local residents. Somehow we omitted to mention Gwen House, who was one of the recipients of the letter of commendation, meaning she has already had her civic award AND continued to volunteer for at least a further 10 years. Gwen has been running 2nd Shepperton Guides for nigh on 50 years and has also taken on the role of District Commissioner and Division camp adviser at various times , as well as also running a Rainbow unit and supporting any other units when in need of a pair of helping hands, expertise, advice and a supporting shoulder. Congratulations Gwen on a well deserved recognition. It is people like you who make this such a special community to be a part of. Thank you!
