Village Christian School was founded in 1949 with a mission to provide a Christ-centered education, a heart for the community, and a sacrificial commitment to give students every opportunity to thrive. For more than 75 years, whether the school was in Burbank or tucked into the foothills here in Sun Valley, God has been faithful.
We are now stepping into THE NEXT 75 years with the same boldness and conviction as our founders. Partner with us, and together, we can empower every VCS student academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually within their identity in Christ.
FIVE-YEAR CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES TO RAISE $10M
THE NEXT 75 Anniversary Campaign quietly kicked off in 2024 as the 75 th Anniversary Campaign, and through the generosity of 27 families, we have already raised approximately $1.5 million in committed funds for impactful and lasting projects campus-wide.
Harkening back the school’s earliest fundraising efforts, Village Christian School hosted a “Loyalty Dinner” in December 2024, which garnered $1 million in pledges from the attendees. Loyalty Dinners have been a staple at VCS since their inception in the 1950s, when families first gathered together to raise money for the Sun Valley property purchase.
As funds have come in, and with a $2.5M commitment from the Board of Directors, campaign projects are already benefiting the VCS community through many new projects.
The cornerstone project of THE NEXT 75 , however, is a brand new gymnasium/multipurpose event center on the upper field/softball field. Thanks to initial resources from the Board and campaign efforts, VCS was also able initiate this much-needed – and ambitious – project during Year One, including early plans, blueprints, and renderings.
It’s just the beginning, and soon, this special new facility will be a bustling new reality – but we need your help.

SOUTH ATHLETIC EVENT CENTER
Foundational within THE NEXT 75 Anniversary Campaign is a new Events Center (gymnasium/multipurpose facility) that is poised to elevate the Village Christian experience in the same way the Kendall Pavilion transformed the campus nearly 40 years ago.
When the gymnasium first opened in 1986 , it was immediately bursting at the seams. Home athletic contests were hosted on campus on a regular basis for the first time. Large-scale mainstage fine arts shows and performances became a reality. There were special events, chapels, and newfound physical education opportunities. The schedule was overloaded – in new and exciting ways that equipped and empowered VCS students.
Through the decades, that demand has continued to grow, and as we step into THE NEXT 75 , we have the generational opportunity to give students a launching point into an exciting new chapter of Village’s mission.
In the following pages, you’ll see how this valuable new facility will once again impact students campus-wide academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually –as well as the benefits VCS will experience as a community.
SOUTH ATHLETIC EVENT CENTER
A BENEFIT FOR OUR
ACADEMICS
ACCESS THAT AFFECTS EVERY GRADE
THE NEXT 75 will ensure students in all grade levels always have access to optimal educational opportunities from Elementary Science Nights to Physical Education to Concentrations® and digital testing.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
Supporting our signature High School program, Concentrations®, new facility will provide valuable space for guest speakers and large-scale attendance, while freeing up the schedule for seminars, Elementary Science Nights, and other exciting learning opportunities.
With limited space in the Library, Teachers Lounge, and Kendall Pavilion for PSAT and AP Testing, a new building is essential to support digital testing that is critical for students’ high school achievement and college applications.
Whether lesson plan-dependent or in the event of inclement weather (rain or heat advisory), Elementary and Middle School students will always have a venue for Physical Education, reinforcing our commitment to student health and safety.
ATHLETICS
ACHIEVING PEAK ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
THE NEXT 75 enables student-athletes to reach new levels of athletic excellence through dedicated facilities, elevated student experience, and increased training and competitive scheduling.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
Valuable space to train and compete, providing opportunities to expand thriving indoor sports at the developmental levels and in Middle School, including wrestling, cheer, volleyball, and basketball.
Increased home slate of games, greatly decreasing off-campus rental and travel costs, while allowing student-athletes to gain valuable in-classroom instructional time and more community-building, school spirit-filled events.
Dedicated facilities, including much-needed new office space that will replace the currently outdated “Field House” modular unit as the home for VCS Athletics Administration and an upgraded Athletic Training room to care for student-athletes as well as launch aspiring medical professionals into future career paths.
COMMUNITY
A NEW EVENTS CENTER OPENS UP NEW AND EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES TO GATHER AS A COMMUNITY FOR WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP, INNOVATIVE PARENT EDUCATION, AND VOLUNTEER GROUP ACCESS.
GROWING VCS COMMUNITY
FINE ARTS
ENHANCED FOCUS FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS
THE NEXT 75 will provide our thriving Fine Arts programs with expanded performance and rehearsal schedules, enhanced and dedicated facilities, and the chance for students to grow in their craft and talents.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
Transition the Kendall Pavilion to a more arts-focused facility through revamped audio/visual systems, new lighting, stage extensions, a lobby remodel, and bleacher removal that will allow for expanded seating.
More opportunity to showcase groups and performers across the performing arts, including longer show runs and smaller group-focused concerts.
Greater flexibility for set-building and show preparation, allowing for a less intensive tech week and performance whirlwind.
SPIRITUAL LIFE
EMPHASIS ON MINISTRY AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
THE NEXT 75 gives students avenues to grow in their giftings and relationship with Jesus through chapels and Spiritual Life benefits.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
Upgraded A/V and seating present more opportunities for creativity and flexibly when planning and executing Middle School and High School chapels, spiritual emphasis-events like Ignite, and the Worship Arts class.
Creates valuable space for grade-level retreat staging and check-in procedures, increasing efficiency and improving the student/staff experience.
More tailored time and space created by new facility will allow Spiritual Life Department to better focus student opportunities and instruction, remove distractions, and target Biblical messaging.
BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
Increased potential for community events, concerts, and school meetings – hosted in the new building and freeing up current facilities.
New large-attendance venue to host guest speakers for parent education and unique workshops dealing with cutting-edge topics and issues.
Valuable new location for parent/volunteer groups to gather for meetings, service projects, and departmental support.
Since renovations to the Kendall Pavilion were completed in 2011, Fine Arts continues to grow K-12, winning prestigious awards and attracting notoriety across Southern California, while athletically, every court sport has won at least one CIF Southern Section championship.
