Four of those ships, custom-built to navigate the Seine River brings you to the very heart of Paris. Hosting 168 guests in 84 staterooms, Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid, Viking Skaga and Viking Fjorgyn will dock at our exclusive docking location in the centre of Paris, just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower.
With customised hulls and engines specifically built to navigate the Seine River, these smaller ships will take you deeper into Paris, docking in the heart of the city at Port de Grenelle offering breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. Experience history firsthand at the Normandy beaches and delight in Rouen’s Gothic architecture. Tour the town of Giverny and the charming house and gardens where Claude Monet lived and worked – the setting inspiring many of his masterpieces – before returning to the French capital.
A NEW PARISIAN CULINARY EXPERIENCE France is synonymous with cuisine and experiencing the food and culinary traditions of a destination are such an integral part of cultural immersion and can give a unique insight into local life. That’s why we are excited to announce a brand new Paris culinary experience. Our new 4-day post-trip extension Paris: A Culinary Experience explores the cuisine of the French capital immersing you in the culinary history of Paris and tasting the gastronomic delights the city has to offer.
Beginning in 2023 for those sailing on the 8-day Paris & the Heart of Normandy itinerary onboard Viking Skaga, you will disembark your ship in Paris and explore the city with a culinary guide, visiting the “Belly of Paris” and the Rue Montorgueil, home to the city’s first pâtisserie, before checking into your hotel.
The following day, visit a Parisian cooking school to attend a croissant baking workshop with a local chef and learn about the pastry’s origins before enjoying an evening wine and cheese tasting with an expert sommelier at a private wine cellar.
On the final day, journey to the Jacquemart-André Museum for a tour of the 19th-century mansion and its private art collection, followed by a special workshop delving into the art of table etiquette. Each day allows ample free time to explore iconic Parisian landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées from your centrally located hotel.
