Vigan City Government Installs Alcohol Dispensers and Hands-Free Faucets
Cleaning hands often with the use of soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub is one of the safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 according to the World Health Organization (WHO). To further promote handwashing, the City Government of Vigan through the City Health Office, City Engineering Office and the City General Services Office installed Authomatic Sensor Alcohol Dispensers at the different common areas of the city such as Vigan City Hall, Vigan Convention Center, City Health Office and Vigan Culture and Trade Center while Handa-free or pedal operated faucets were put up at the entrance and exit points of the City Public Market. “We strictly require every market goer to wash and sanitized their hands through our hands-free faucets before entering the market for us to ensure the safety of everyone.” City Market Supervisor III Harold Dela Cruz said.

Meanwhile, checking of body temperature, quarantine pass slips and maintaining of the physical distancing were done by the CDRRM personel and PNP-Vigan.
The City Health Office also reminded the proper wearing of face mask through covering of nose and mouth, staying at home, regular exercise, eating healthy food and observingat least one meter distance to a person are effective ways to prevent the transfer of the virus.

The Vigan City Government through the City Health Office, City Public Safety and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the City Nutrition Council (CNC) continues to deliver their regular services to Bigueños, especially the vulnerable ones right at their doorsteps. Food Rations were given such as a tray of eggs to pregnant women and lactating mothers while vegetables for families with underweight children.
“The activity aims to promote good nutrition and boost the body’s immune system to fight COVID-19 while improving the nutritional status of the city.” City Nutrition Officer I Figuracion said.
Figuracion also added that the NNC created the Nutrition Cluster Advisory No. 1 Series of 2020 or the Nutrition Cluster Guidlines on LGU Nutrition Action Relative to Covid-19 in which it was recommended to distribute food packs that are fortified and encouraged to be nutritious which includes dark green and dark yellow vegetables and fruits.
Meanwhile, Ms. Sweet Angel King, a pregnant women of Barangay Ayusan Norte gratified the City Government for conducting such activities that promotes the well-being of every pregnant women of the city.
She also added that the tray of egg is really a big help for her especially in this time of pandemic as she is considered a vulnerable person to acquire the virus.

This bacteria can cause food poisoning, which will lead to vomiting, diarrhoea, high fever, headache, abdominal pain, and dehydration. In some cases, these symptoms can be serious enough to cause preterm labour or even miscarriage. This condition is known as salmonella poisoning; and Other Risks- Consumption of egg yolk can also lead to difficulties in case the pregnant woman already has high cholesterol levels. Consumption of eggs can also cause allergies such as skin rashes, nasal congestion, hives and other problems.
The suggested egg intake ranges from one to two eggs daily, depending on your cholesterol level. Each egg contains about 185mg cholesterol and the body needs around 300 mg daily. Eating eggs every day if one has high cholesterol can increase complications and should be avoided. The number of eggs to be consumed daily should be based on the cholesterol content in the remainder of your diet.
