Work Begins on Celebrating the Young and Not-So-Young Missing Link Trail By Carolyn Mayo-Brown Trail work along the new Missing Link Trail that will connect Prospect Hill to the Putney Mountain Association Trail system has begun. Work is under way on the first three-mile section of trail that heads north from Hague Road. Roger Haydock has laid out a magnificent trail through a diverse woodland with beautiful ledge outcroppings. It crosses three mossy year-round brooks and wends its way through a blanket of ferns in a sugar maple grove. It reaches a promontory overlooking the West River and has glimpses of Black Mountain to the south and Mt. Monadonock to continued on page 2

Dummerston School Graduates 17 Don Hazelton Turns 90!

On May 16th, Dummerston put on a driveby birthday party to celebrate Don’s 90 th birthday. Vehicles gathered on Middle Road, then followed the fire truck escort up Park Laughton Road where Don sat outside his house surrounded by (properly sociallydistanced) friends and family. The parade then turned around at the intersection with Spaulding Hill, and came back, giving Don the chance to say hi to everybody sitting on the passenger-seat sides of the cars. People waved, called out to, and passed cards and presents to him. One woman got out of her car to hold her phone up to Don, possibly for a quick Facetime? Don says the parade was truly continued on page 2
