VIENN BR UX - B UMG RDT The change I want to see in the world, from a design stand point, is more than just a sustainable future. I envision utopias sustained within closed looped cycles; designed with biomimicry at the heart and functioning as exquisitely as Mother Nature’s ecosystems. Where the land, the sea and the body is respected and treated as the temples that they are. Where being sustainable is no longer a question of moral integrity, cost and time but always the solution and resulting outcome. Where designing for every living thing for all time, is the only logical option. As far out of reach as this may seem today, I believe we undoubtably have to start somewhere and with this as the ultimate goal in mind, I feel we would be headed in the right direction. One of the deepest values I hold and something that continues to motivate me each day, is the importance of respecting all life on this planet. We are part of the cycle of life; our survival is dependent on the coexistence with Mother Nature. Protecting the world around us, and the ecosystems we inhabit is of the utmost importance, today and everyday into the future. Designing sustainably to respect all living things should always be the bottom line.

GARDEN APARTMENT PERSONAL PROJECT The intent for this project was to explore the idea of individual high-rise greenhouse gardening. Each apartment unit has a south facing facade, which allows for optimal sunlight exposure in a northern climate like Toronto, Ontario. Attached to each unit’s south facing façade is a 10x10 square foot enclosed greenhouse. Given the harsh Canadian winters, fully enclosing the space with glass windows allows for the garden to be maintained year round. Additionally, in the summer months all the windows have drop down capability creating a railing around the circumference, which allows for natural ventilation.

WILD HOUSING M.ARCH PROJECT The intent of this project was to explore ideas and relationships between combined living arrangements; a client with a disablilty and a local species. With that in mind, The geometric properties and spatial relations between the two program requirements for the clients, create converging spaces of interest. These spaces display and represent a fluidity within the program and overall structure of the house. This Image shows the western elevation of the house and the combination of the living quarters for the Great Horned Owl and the garden space. The intricate formal logic of the geometric garden facade stems from the conceptual idea of the inner workings of an Alzheimer’s patients brain and the similar formal relationship between a plant based disease called Witches’ Boom. This facade was arrived at based on the forms derived from the two diseases.

MODERN CITY RESIDENCE PROFESSIONAL PROJECT This modern Toronto home was designed by the Murakami Design team. I worked alongside the principal designer to custom design the exterior facade and layouts for each floor. I impacted the overall look, feel and final design of the home, for the exterior and interior. I presented conceptual ideas and renderings for the clients. The presented concept is currently under construction and should be completed in 2017.

MODERN CITY RESIDENCE
CONCEPTUAL SKETCHES AND IDEATION SOME OF THE CHALLENGES FACED WHILE DESIGNING THIS MODERN TORONTO DWELLING, WERE THE NARROW PROPERTY DIMENSIONS AND THE CITY ZONING BY-LAWS. THESE ISSUES WERE RESOLVED THROUGH THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN PROCESSES, CONFIGURING A FUNCTIONAL AND PROPORTIONAL DWELLING WHILE STILL MAINTAINING A MODERN AND SLEEK APPEARANCE.
