The Show Must Go On

2021 was a year like no other for theatre and yet the Prep Players knew that “The Show Must Go On.” And so it did! With an outdoor performance of James and The Giant Peach, the Prep Players were once again taking the stage but in a whole new, creative way. Their outdoor performance showcased not only their talents but also their resilience. We asked senior Nicole Tonny to share the Prep Players memory that changed her.

COVID-19 has affected everyone, especially the theatre community, but not entirely in a negative way. I think of the Prep Player community as my family. When I joined Prep Players, I found people who made me comfortable with who I was. I started opening up to more people, creating a family within Prep that I will cherish forever. COVID-19 definitely caused some setbacks, but the laughter and the memories I have made with the cast, crew, and management is something I will never forget. To me, performing shows on a stage creates an escape from reality to just have fun. To be able to experience that normally again at Prep is remarkable. I will take the bonds I have made and my love of theatre beyond high school. Even with COVID-19, the Prep community has stuck together and has become closer than ever.
