Through an immersive series of workshop sessions in coding, 3D Printing, augmented reality, robotics and product development, participants will leave with the fundamentals to be the next generation of tech leaders, regardless of the industry they go into. Our workshops focus heavily on motivating and inspiring an informed relationship with the technology that powers our experiences and industries, We believe that not everyone will find their passionate purpose in being a programmer, but everyone should be empowered to understand how digital products are made and to have the confidence to excel in any industry that relies on software and mechanical infrastructure.

The Access to Innovation workshop is a sample of the immersive project based education that directly correlates to the skills needed to work within any company that uses software-based solutions to operate a business (i.e., medicine, architecture, manufacturing, new methods of construction, software development companies). Skills taught are not soft skills but hard tangible training to prepare young adults to excel in their careers, not just be "eligible" for work.

As part of the commitment to building self-esteem, self-reliance and proper training to students, the workshop includes a training component for educators to become eligible to participate in a 3-year Java and SQL database training program to enhance their abilities as educators at no cost.

The workshop is largely based on not only imparting computer science skills and creativity but is also anchored in teaching integrity and social responsibility, creating transformational leadership that is based on modern teachings of innovative thinking.

CODE, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND DIGITAL ARTS Programming jobs are growing fastest, more than 50% faster than the market overall. In general, programming jobs are growing 12% faster than the market average.

Seven million job openings in 2015 were in occupations which value coding skills. This corresponds to 20% of “career track” jobs, defined as those which pay a national living wage of at least $15/hour.

Day 1 & Day 2 - Introduction to Coding [Java] This 2-Day intensive is designed to facilitate the delivery of introductory computer science foundations by learning the fundamentals of programming in Java, C++, Greenfoot or SQL Database, depending on the level of CS background.

These robust coding sessions are designed to make first experiences with computing fun and engaging, while still leveraging the best academic curriculum practices like projectbased learning and offering educators methods for assessment.

Day 3 - Introduction to Interactive Robotics and Design Thinking for Virtual Reality As part of their continued learning on how to code and build products from concept to prototype, the students shall be given the opportunity to program their own robots through the use of an open-source Arduino platform. Students also learn how to create their own Augmented Reality and are introduced to stereoscopic design which is rapidly becoming the next standard for visualization in industries like medicine, farming, architecture and design.

Coding has become a new modern day language to express ideas, inspiring originality, while helping develop logical thinking. The programming software is made up of colorful and modularized drag and drop graphical blocks so that first time students can feel accomplished and comfortable with mechanical engineering fundamentals.

Day 3 - Introduction to 3D Printing 3D Printing is the process of taking a digital image and turning it into a 3D physical product. The Access to Innovation workshop can substitute or complement the Robotics sessions with teaching students to design (Tinkercad) and print objects with a 3D printer brought to each workshop.

3D printers engage students in design and the maker culture while enhancing their ability to solve complex problems and collaborate through creative solutions.

This session prepares students for STEAM careers with tangible hands-on experience and engineering fundamentals. It also offers a rich way to enhance curricula of math, science, art, engineering, science and technology already being taught in the classroom.

Day 4 - DEVELOPING YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS: LEARNING ABOUT START-UPS AND COGNITIVE CREATIVITY Morning: In groups, students will work together on an idea for a startup. The startup ideas should align with the initiatives of the local community and culture- creating a new generation of advanced youth, stimulating innovation and new approaches to existing business models.

Students will have to build ideas for - a business model and scalability - a unique idea that does not exist today - solves a global challenge that helps communities across the world - Prototyping with modeling software for digital concepts or physical products The students shall be introduced to the fundamentals of product design and how to prototype their ideas from the ideation phase to the builder phase.

Day 5 - PROTOTYPING IDEAS WITH 3D CAD SOFTWARE AND DIGITAL DESIGN TOOLS

DAY 5:

The students shall continue to build upon their ideas for a startup and live interactive prototypes of their concepts.

Presentations in the afternoon and awards will be given for the most innovative and well-thought ideas that have strong prototypes.

Each student will be allowed to create a campaign for their project using Augmented Reality technologies and Virtual Reality will capture their presentations.

Tools: Tinkercad (3D prototyping), Proto.io (digital prototyping), and/or Panoform (stereoscopic design)

ACCESS TO INNOVATION - FOUNDER BIO ROBINNE BURRELL FOUNDER CHIEF CURRICULA DESIGNER WORKSHOP LEAD

Robinne, featured in Forbes Magazine for her contribution to emerging technology ("Top 5 People in Tech You Want to Work With Now", April 2017) , was named Google/YouTube's Codebreaker of the Year in 2017, studied at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Tec de Monterrey (Mexico's top technical degree university) and USC (University of Southern California) and has recently partnered with Ndaba Mandela and his organization Africa Rising, on a sustainable CS program throughout South Africa. Prior to her more recent leadership positions at top tech companies, Robinne worked with Jimmy Iovine (Beats by Dre. Founder, Interscope Geffen & A&M Records President) on Inside Sessions, a digital curriculum designed to introduce young musicians on how to break into the business of music. In 2016, her interactive project "The World Cup of Hip Hop"with Steven Spielberg's virtual reality company, was a Jury finalist for an Emmy Award for Interactive Excellence - making her the first AfricanAmerican female in history to be up for an Emmy in Virtual Reality. She was also an NBC on-air correspondent for the Barack Obama Inauguration (2009) and a U.S Ambassador of Goodwill & Peace in Mexico (2004-2006), responsible for setting up the first after-school Humanities program for children in Northern Mexico.

ACCESS TO INNOVATION - WORKSHOP LEAD BIOS PHILIP J. ELLER WORKSHOP LEAD

Philip Eller has dedicated his life to advancing the state of music design though the use of emerging technology. His completed his studies in Guitar Performance and Music Theory and has since been the lead sound designer for the mobile game, Pixel Cuties for iOS and develops new store layouts and retail strategy for the world's largest music instrument retailer - Guitar Center, where he has used 3D modeling and 360 virtual reality (VR) to construct new paradigms for their retail locations. He is also a skilled 360 VR content creator of music content and facilitates workshops in Los Angeles. He was the lead robotics facilitator in Mthatha for Mandela Week.
