Get to Know… Our Graduates & Apprentices

After a competitive recruitment process where we received over 300 applications, the 2022 intake of Galliard Homes Graduates and Apprentices joined the business in September. To welcome them to the business, they were invited to an induction which provided them with insight into what we do. They also got a chance to visit our sites across London and Birmingham, and meet with Darren Maguire, the Managing Director of Galliard Construction. A huge thank you to those who supported with the site visits, in particular Richard Cohen, David Hughes, Chris Beaton and Daniel Beatty. Now a few months into their rotations, lets learn an interesting fact about them and see how they feel about their journey so far

Ben Cannell - M&E Design Apprentice

‘Since joining Galliard Homes in September, I have had the opportunity to integrate with the M & E team as well as colleagues across the company, visit many sites in a number of locations such as London, Ipswich, and Birmingham, and have begun to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the Construction sector which I have wanted to work in since I was a young boy. I look forward to continuing my journey in this industry and at Galliard Homes’.

‘I have really enjoyed my experience so far as an apprentice at Galliard. Everyone has been so welcoming and made me feel a part of the team. I love that everyday is different and I am always learning something new ’.

‘My experience with the company has been a thrill, and the environment is amicable. It has allowed me to become more comfortable and transition smoothly from school to a working environment, with my Communication skills improving and taking on different forms of learning on and off the job. ‘My experience with Galliard so far has been good, the team around me is very helpful and welcoming. I get given a lot of tasks which keeps my busy and very much involved in the team.

An interesting fact about me if that I am a brown belt in Karate’.

Jake Kelly - Electrical Apprentice

‘Since joining the Galliard Team, I have met new people, been welcomed onto my new team, and been encouraged to ask questions as “there are no silly questions" and I ask lots! Every day is a learning day, and I am loving the experience and opportunities that are being offered to me.

An interesting fact about me is that since joining the team I have passed my driving test ’.

Construction Management Apprentice

‘My experience so far with Galliard homes has been second to none, full of independence, accompanied with an abundance of guidance and teaching. To being met with complex difficulties, overcoming them autonomously and having a supportive team to rely on. I have gained many skills thus far and look forward to progressing my career through Galliard Homes. Interesting fact: I once achieved a ranking of 3rd in the UK through competing in kickboxing bouts’.

‘My experience at Galliard so far has been amazing and insightful! I’ve been able to learn onsite and to have exposure to live projects which has given me the opportunity to meet and interact with others. An interesting fact is that Pasta is my favourite dish, and I could eat it every day!’

‘So far, I have really enjoyed the graduate scheme experience. I have already learnt so much and love that each day I am able to do something different. Once I start my rotations I’m excited to see how each department works and how this can help me with my role. My hobbies are knitting, decorating cakes and watching anime’.

‘My experience working at Galliard Homes has exceeded all of my expectations. I was able to integrate myself right away due to the workforce’s diversity. I have been welcomed in with open arms and had the opportunity to take part in, and observe the daily duties of a Construction Manager first-hand. I am looking An interesting fact is that I support Arsenal, the forward to the rest of my best team in London’. journey here at Galliard Premleen Kaur Seera Homes’ Architecture Graduate ‘Working within the Architecture department has allowed me to become more confident in using AutoCAD and BIM, giving me the responsibility of producing 2D drawings such as the entrance lobbies and cycle strategies. As well as teaching me the structural build up and the purpose for the chosen design. An interesting fact about me is that I gained an Ada Lovelace scholarship in first year of university, due to being a woman in STEM, encouraging younger girls to follow their interest in STEM subjects.’
