MMy name is Ed Meinhardt, and I have the honor of serving as Mayor of Livingston this year.
People often ask me, “Why do you want to be Mayor?” For me, the answer is simple: I was raised with the belief in giving back and helping others. Serving as Mayor gives me the unique opportunity to do both.
It allows me to help shape our community and make a direct, positive impact on the lives of our residents. I take great pride in advocating for the well-being of our families, local businesses and the overall quality of life here in Livingston.
But the very best part of this role? It’s having the opportunity to connect with so many of you—residents and volunteers alike—who make Livingston the diverse, vibrant and welcoming town that it is.
Over the past 11 years on the Town Council—and during two previous terms as Mayor—I’ve learned so much from the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, histories and values that make up our community. My weekends are filled with cultural celebrations, religious observances, historical commemorations and sporting events that reflect our town’s incredible spirit.
If we haven’t met yet, I hope to have the opportunity to connect with you soon. My email address and cell number are listed on the Town website. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns or ideas.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Warm regards,
Ed Meinhardt

EElizabeth Chalom, MD, has dedicated her medical career to treating pediatric patients with rheumatologic disorders for nearly three decades, but her work extends far beyond the exam room. A pediatric rheumatologist at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in West Orange, Dr. Chalom is a longtime volunteer with the Arthritis Foundation, where she champions the importance of social support alongside medical care.
Recognizing that children with chronic illnesses often face isolation, Dr. Chalom and Karen Drzik co-founded the Arthritis Foundation’s New Jersey walk, now
celebrating its 20th anniversary. What began as a festive gathering to celebrate children with arthritis has become a significant fundraising event, featuring music, food, balloon artists, and more. “I wasn’t even thinking of it as a fundraiser,” she said. “I just wanted a party for these kids and their families.” The walk has been graciously sponsored by RWJBarnabas Health since its inception.
Dr. Chalom, Chair of the Juvenile Arthritis (JA) committee, also helped establish a weeklong summer camp, the Arthritis Foundation’s JA Camp, and regular JA Days, where children meet others living

with similar conditions. These programs offer emotional connection and reduce the stigma young patients face. “For many, it’s the first time they’ve met someone like them,” she said. “They come back feeling understood—and less alone.”
In addition to organizing events and formerly serving on the Foundation’s board, Dr. Chalom works to raise awareness in schools, guiding teachers and peers to support students with invisible illnesses better.
She says, “There’s so much a doctor can do with medication, but the social side can be just as important. Helping kids feel seen, supported, and celebrated is what makes a difference.”
The 2025 Arthritis Foundation Walk for a Cure will take place on June 1, at 8am, at the South Mountain Recreation Complex, 9 Cherry Lane, West Orange. Join Dr. Chalom’s team at: bit.ly/3GGtmld.

IIf you ask Ofer Steinberg, owner of B & Z Opticians of Livingston, why his store has been voted Best Optician in Essex County for nine years, he’ll answer “customer service” without hesitation.
B & Z Opticians, which has proudly served the community for over 70 years, is known for offering the latest in lens technology and helping clients select custom frames from a wide range of designers, including Anne & Valintine, l a Eyeworks, Lindberg, Tom Ford, and many more.
The B & Z experience begins the moment a customer walks through the door. The appealing décor, with its soft, muted colors and abundant natural light, provides the perfect backdrop for displays of hundreds of designer frames.
“We strive for excellence in all that we do— from offering cutting-edge lens technology to helping our customers choose from our collection of high-end frames that reflect their individual style,” Steinberg says. He adds that suggestions are based on thoughtful conversations about a client’s lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. “Finally, we always spend time providing the perfect fit, which is the most important part of the process.”
Steinberg emphasizes the importance of understanding the demographic his store serves. “Many of our female clients are petite, and standard frames are often too large for their faces,” he explains. “Some opticians might turn to children’s frames, but those often look too juvenile. We offer a full line of smaller, adult-appropriate frames that fit beautifully.”

We recently switched from another optician to B&Z Opticians… Ofer and his team really listened to my “fit” needs and recommended a frame that works really well for me. Great customer orientation and expertise. We wish we had switched years ago.”
– Peter B.
The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel valued, taking the time to listen to your needs and ensuring you leave with the perfect pair of glasses. – AjamalD
One of the most exciting parts of the job, Steinberg shares, is when clients return to tell them about all the compliments they’ve received. “It’s also a joy when a new customer walks in after admiring a friend’s glasses that were purchased here. There’s no greater compliment.”
In June, B & Z plans to introduce an on-site optometrist. “This will make the eyeglass purchasing process even more convenient, as clients will be able to do everything in one visit,” Steinberg says. “We listen closely to each of our clients and are always looking for ways to better serve them.”

“We’re a full-service pharmacy with deep roots in the community,” says Dr. Akruwala. “We’re constantly looking for new ways to improve and expand our services.”

Beyond prescriptions, Northfield Pharmacy offers a wide range of healthcare products, including compression socks, canes, walkers, transport chairs, wheelchairs, and medical devices such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors. “We offer a comprehensive range of durable medical equipment, along with Sigvaris compression socks tailored for precise sizing,” he says, adding that personalized consultations are available for those needing surgical garments.
“At Northfield Pharmacy, we go beyond prescriptions to meet a wide range of everyday needs,” he says. “You’ll find a thoughtfully curated selection of greeting cards for every special occasion and holiday. “At Northfield, we make time for every individual,” he adds. “Whether it’s answering questions about a prescription or helping someone manage multiple medications, we provide the kind of personal attention that’s hard to find at chain pharmacies.”

At Brunetti Periodontics, they believe in creating a warm and welcoming environment where every patient feels heard and valued. Their office is designed with individualized care in mind, ensuring that each visit is tailored to the patients’ unique needs and concerns.
Dr. Anna Brunetti, a board-certified periodontist with over a decade of experience, emphasizes the importance of patient education. “I take the time to explain each procedure and its benefits, helping to alleviate any concerns you may have,” she shares. “My goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way.”
Although the fundamentals of periodontal dentistry have remained consistent over the years, the technology used at Brunetti Periodontics has evolved significantly, allowing for less invasive treatments. For instance, gum grafting now requires only a single incision, which not only reduces downtime but also promotes faster healing. This commitment to advanced, patient-friendly techniques ensures that treatments are as efficient and effective as possible.
Modern digital dentistry, including CAT scans and intraoral scans for implants, plays a crucial role in treatment plans. These innovations not only help minimize risks but also enhance the longevity of implants, making the journey to a healthier smile smoother and more secure.
Dr. Brunetti, who also serves on the board at Morristown Medical Center and mentors dental students, brings her passion for patient care to every interaction. “Educating patients is a big part of my practice,” she says. “I explain the importance of maintaining strong gum and bone health and provide strategies to help prevent disease recurrence.”

GGrowing up, Frank Castronovo enjoyed helping his father, Francesco, in the family restaurant. Today, he and his four brothers have followed in their father’s footsteps. “An immigrant from Sicily, my dad had a passion for authentic Italian food,” he says. “He felt that opening a pizzeria was a great way to bring his culture and his food to the United States.” Master Pizza, which opened its first location in Livingston in 1990, is doing just that while staying true to its motto, “Fast, Fresh & Delicious.”

One day, when Frank wanted to make his sauce even better, he brought in his Sicilian mother, Dorotea. Frank’s wife, Marylee, explains, “My father-in-law is deceased, but my mother-in-law is still alive. She’ll be 87 this July, and she’s an amazing cook. When Frank struggled with his sauce, he picked her up and brought her to the restaurant. While she was in the kitchen with him, adding a pinch of this and a pinch of that, he wrote it all down. Afterward, it was perfect.”
Some of Master Pizza’s most popular offerings include Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Nonna Pizza, Chicken Parmigiana, and Sunday Meatballs. “We focus on quality ingredients,” says Frank. “Everything is made fresh, from our dough to all of our sauces. We take pride in using decadesold family recipes.” As with the delicious dishes and pizza they make, the bread is also made in-house.
The restaurant has been voted Best Pizza in Essex County for the past two years. “It is a huge honor,” he says. “We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers for their support. It tells me that people recognize the love and effort we put into what we do. At the end of the day, it’s so rewarding to me to know we have made people happy.”
Over the past 35 years, Frank and his staff have heard everything from “This is the best pizza I have ever had” to “Local Gem” and “My go-to spot for pizza.” “We have seen kids grow up and return with their own kids to have a slice of Master Pizza.” The restaurant is primarily take-out and delivery but also provides catering for all types of events.
Marylee, who handles the accounting and other duties, also coordinates donations and sponsorships. “The most rewarding thing for me in this business is to see
how many people and organizations we’ve helped,” she says. “I truly feel like we’ve been so blessed in this business and with the community.”
Over the years, Master Pizza has supported school events, given back to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, provided gift cards and pizza kits for various fundraisers, and sponsored many local sports teams. This ongoing support comes not only from its Livingston restaurant, but also from its West Orange, Union, and Carlstadt locations.
Frank and Marylee are grateful for their team and their children’s help with social media, contest ideas, and marketing. “We are proud to be a family-run business that has grown with the community,” says Frank. “We have always tried to evolve while staying true to our roots.”
When he first purchased the business in 1990, its tagline was “At Master Pizza, every pie is a work of art.” He adds, “It really is how we approach the business. We try to give the customer everything they ask for and more.”

AAs the founder of Fava Law, Sandra Fava, Esq. has built a family law practice dedicated to providing clients with personalized, high-quality legal services. In 2025, she looks forward to expanding her firm’s offerings beyond matrimonial law to include complementary practice areas such as trust and estates and criminal law. “This expansion will allow us to serve our clients more comprehensively,” she explains.
A significant trend in family law that Fava is watching closely is the potential impact of Project 2025, a proposal that includes eliminating no-fault divorce. “If this happens, it could create complications for people seeking divorces, particularly for women who often have less access to financial resources,” she notes. The possible shift in divorce law could have far-reaching consequences, making it essential for family law practitioners to stay informed and prepared.
Fava’s journey into law was not straightforward. Despite always wanting to be an attorney, she initially avoided family law due to her sister’s difficult divorce. However, during law school, a pro bono domestic violence case changed her perspective. “Working on that case was a turning point,” she recalls. “I realized how fulfilling it was to help people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.”
That passion for advocacy led her to build a firm where she could prioritize both legal excellence and compassionate client service. “Leaving a 20-year career in big law allowed me to create a practice that focuses on personal attention without the constraints of a corporate structure,” she explains. By having control over case management and fee structures, Fava ensures that her clients receive the best possible support during difficult times.
Beyond her practice, Fava serves as a trustee on the board of CASA for Morris and Sussex counties, advocating for children in foster care. She is also actively involved in fundraising for breast cancer research.
With 21 years of legal experience, a passion for service, and a vision for the future, Sandra Fava continues to make a meaningful impact in family law and her community.

Are you unsure whether to repair or replace your air conditioner? Here are some signs that indicate it might be time for a replacement:
Higher Utility Bills: If your monthly bills are rising, your air conditioner could be the culprit. Over time, systems lose efficiency, leading to increased energy consumption. However, installing a new, highly efficient model could significantly reduce your costs, making it a worthwhile investment.
Aging Air Conditioner: The average lifespan of an air conditioner is around 10 to 15 years. If your system is approaching this age, it’s worth considering a replacement to avoid potential risks and ensure your comfort.
Frequent Breakdowns: If you’re continually paying for repairs, it may be a sign that your air conditioner is nearing the end of its useful life.
New Construction: If you’ve recently built an addition or converted a basement, attic, or garage, this is the perfect opportunity to upgrade or consider a ductless mini-split system. Doing so during the construction phase can save time and money, and ensure your new space is comfortable from the start.
If you’re considering installing a new air conditioning system, don’t hesitate to call us today to schedule a free consultation. As a local family-owned and operated business for over 60 years, we offer quality equipment, expert technicians, competitive rates, and unbeatable customer service. WWhen the school year wraps up, many families wonder: Should my preschooler take a summer break — or is there real value in a summer program before the “big kid” camp years?
At JStart Summer Fun, we believe summer is not just a gap between school years — it’s a golden opportunity. Designed for children ages 2–7, our program blends the joy of summer play with intentional, developmentally rich experiences that set the stage for future success.
Before preschoolers are ready for the busy, often fast-paced world of big overnight camps or specialized day programs, they benefit from a space that is designed just for them — where they can explore, grow, and have fun in ways that match their social, emotional, and developmental needs.
Here’s why programs like JStart Summer make such a big difference:
Smooth Transition from School—
Preschoolers thrive on consistency. A summer program provides structure, routine, and familiar faces, making the shift from the school year to summer feel seamless and safe.
Outdoor Exploration & Sensory Play— Before kids head off to older camp experiences, they need time to splash, tinker, dig, and build in spaces designed for their age group. JStart’s Rosenbaum Splash Pad and outdoor Tinkergan classroom offer just that—big, messy, hands-on fun that supports learning and creativity.
Building Confidence & Independence— Summer at JStart is a perfect steppingstone: children gain confidence in group settings, build friendships, and develop independence that will prepare them for more advanced camp adventures down the line. Learning Through Play—Research shows young children learn best through play. Our activities—from sensory science experiments to creative art projects—let children develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and curiosity without the pressure of academic goals.
Each day at JStart Summer is thoughtfully structured with engaging activities, from Camp Fire Morning Circle and STEAM group projects to mindfulness and outdoor fun. Our dedicated staff create a nurturing, joyful environment where every child feels safe and supported— and where every splash, giggle, and discovery matters.
Many families view JStart Summer as the “practice ground” before children leap into larger day camps or overnight adventures. By giving preschoolers a summer that’s just right for their age, you’re helping them build the social, emotional, and practical skills they’ll need to thrive when they take that next big step.
If you’re looking for a summer program that’s more than just child care—one that sparks imagination, encourages exploration, and fills little hearts with joy— JStart Summer Fun is the perfect place to begin.

FFor Dr. Anuradha Rana, OD, opening Maison De Vision was the natural next step in a career built on expertise, empathy, and a passion for innovation. After years of working in various clinical settings, she set out to create something of her own—a boutique eyecare practice that reflects her commitment to personalized care and a modern, welcoming patient experience.
With a doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and a specialty in ocular disease, Dr. Rana brings years of clinical expertise and a personalized approach to vision care. “I wanted to create something that didn’t feel clinical or rushed,” she says. “Our space is modern, warm, and welcoming—and the care is tailored to each patient’s needs.”
At Maison De Vision, exams go far beyond basic vision checks. “I offer truly comprehensive eye exams—not just screenings for glasses or contacts, but evaluations that consider systemic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and thyroid issues,” she explains. “We also take the time to understand your lifestyle— whether managing digital eye strain, trying contact lenses, or shopping for the perfect pair of frames. And if you’re bringing your child in, we guide you through their myopia evaluation step-by-step with care and clarity.”
The practice also features advanced treatments like OptiLight IPL for dry eye disease and a curated eyewear collection that includes exclusive brands like Loewe and Vuarnet alongside fashion favorites like Prada and Saint Laurent.
As an independent business, Dr. Rana prioritizes community connection. She’s committed to making Maison De Vision a trusted neighborhood resource, from participating in local events to hosting educational workshops for parents.
Maison De Vision is currently accepting new patients and most insurances. A grand opening celebration is coming soon. Follow @_maisondevision on Instagram for updates and event details.

TThey say home is where the heart is — and for Susan Thomas, it turns out home was right where she left it.
A lifelong Livingston resident, Susan has moved into ParkVue at Livingston multiple times over the years — always drawn back by the comfort, convenience, and community she couldn’t find anywhere else.
“We lived in five different units here,” she said with a laugh. “Once, while waiting for a condo to be built — but every time, we found ourselves coming back.”
After a disappointing experience with a newly built condominium, she and her adult son returned to ParkVue — and this time, they stayed for good.
“We sold our unit and moved back almost immediately,” Susan said. “The quality at ParkVue is on another level.”
Today, Susan lives in a one-bedroom plus den with a loft, while her son lives across the complex in his own apartment.
“We’re close, but we each have our own space,” she said.
ParkVue’s gourmet kitchen features 42-inch cabinets, stone countertops, and a five-burner gas range. Every unit also includes a full-size washer and dryer.
Susan praises the well-maintained amenities: a fitness center, resort-style pool, basketball and pickleball courts, walking trails, club room, and co-working lounge. “The management team is incredibly responsive,” she said. “If something’s wrong, they fix it.”
She values the sense of security and thoughtful design. “Whether I come home at 11 p.m. or midday, I feel totally safe. The underground parking, video intercom system, and gated access offer real peace of mind.”
She also enjoys the upscale finishes: hardwood floors in the living areas, ceramic tile baths, walk-in closets, and 9-foot ceilings. “I even have a balcony, which is perfect in the warmer months.”
“There are a lot of new buildings going up, but ParkVue has something special,” she said. “It’s clean, well-kept, and still feels like a community.”
“At ParkVue, I have everything I need — space, quality, peace of mind, and people who care.”

Life Mobile Care is redefining how urgent care is delivered— by bringing high-quality medical services directly to your doorstep. Based in Livingston, NJ, and serving Essex, Morris, Union, and Somerset counties, Life Mobile Care operates as a mobile urgent care service, offering everything from routine check-ups to diagnostic imaging—all from the comfort of your home.
Each of the program’s seven fully equipped SUVs is staffed by a highly trained medical provider—a nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or doctor—and functions as a mini-clinic on wheels. These vehicles are stocked with medications, wound care supplies, and advanced diagnostic tools. Some are even outfitted with full imaging capabilities, including mobile X-rays, enabling accurate bedside diagnoses without the need for going to a hospital or urgent care.
From pediatric fevers to geriatric wound care, Life Mobile Care is designed to serve a wide range of patients. The service is especially beneficial for busy families, caregivers, and anyone who prefers to avoid crowded urgent care centers or ERs.
What sets Life Mobile Care apart is not just its mobility, but its comprehensive scope. In addition to acute care, the team also offers routine medical services such as catheter changes, podiatry visits, and monthly health check-ins. This holistic approach makes Life Mobile Care more than just a one-time emergency solution— it’s an ongoing healthcare partner.
The service is in-network with many major insurance providers, and the team is actively expanding those partnerships. For those who are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, a flat $199 out-of-pocket rate covers the base visit and basic care, with transparent pricing for additional services like imaging.
Though newly launched, Life Mobile Care is part of a broader ecosystem of healthcare services under the “Life” brand, which includes Life Ride, Life Home Care, Life Hospice, and Life Therapy. These interconnected services support seamless care coordination across every stage of life and health needs.
Life Mobile Care is not a franchise—it’s a local homegrown innovation built to meet patients where they are—literally. Life Mobile Care mobilecare.life 973-607-4911

AAt her Montclair practice, The Montclair Therapist, Dr. Amanda Aster-McKenna, is changing lives with her modern approach to life’s challenges. Clients no longer lie on a couch while she sits silently taking notes. Instead, as a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Aster-McKenna customizes each experience using sciencebased methods and modern therapies.
When asked what sets her apart from other therapists, she says, “My treatments are grounded in evidence-based practice. There is research-based science behind each intervention tailored to each individual. I blend contemporary Western psychological interventions, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other cognitive behavior therapies, with Eastern philosophies.”
Life is not a dress rehearsal; this is the show. “If you are struggling, seek help because mental illness, like a physical illness, is real. Treatment is available, and a full recovery is possible,” states Dr. Aster-McKenna. With the proper guidance, peaceful and joyous lives can be attained.

“Short Stays” of a month, allowing respite for a caregiver, for example, will also be available. “All living options are available in one central location,” Caminiti said. “We find this allows residents to transition as their needs evolve.”
Founders’ Club members, who make a fully refundable $500 deposit, can select their own apartments, receive a free month’s rent, and other benefits, said Caminiti.
She noted current Chelsea properties residents are “independent, very high functioning, and still drive.”
On a typical day at The Chelsea at West Orange, she said, a resident could take a morning stroll on the walking path surrounding the building, go shopping, participate in a current events discussion, and visit the library or the casino, among other choices.
The many years of experience shared by Chelsea management enable them to help both potential residents and their families navigate the conversations and decisions that precede a move to senior living. “The more I know about the resident, the better I’m able to advise,” she said. “We are person-centered.”
The company also prides itself on being an involved, supportive member of the community. “We’re locally owned and operated, our team is involved on a day-to-day basis, and we are very transparent,” Caminiti emphasized. “All this sets us apart.”
