"\Yhen Coach Lou Zarza's Green "\Yave machine frots ont on t he griJiron this afternoon a long reco1·d will 0itl1er be lengthened or go into discard. J1'or twenty-t,~·o years the Irish have not been vanquished in a Homecoming encounter. Last fall Viator wbippcd .f ordan College 31-0. McKeucfree, coad1ed by E. B. winning two and losing the same Carbondale, 14-0, and Kalamazoo nois W esleyau battled the Irish to

"Sandy" Blancharcl, lias had a .500 season to date, numbe1·. rrhe Green Wave has beaten Jordan 13-6, 13-7. St. ,\ mLrose trinmphed over Viat.or 27 0 aud Illia 6-6 tie.

Coach Zarza has developed a potentially strong team using his variation of the Notl'e Dame shift Captain Bill Walsh at right half has shown great qualities of leadership in the three games in which he has been able to participate. Bob Lenahan, chunky fullback Erom Vincennes, Indiana, has come through in tough spots despite an injur:v that "·onld keep most players out of the game. Danny Blazevich, Little Nineteen end last year looks like a repeater because of his ability to snag the long passes hurled in his direction by the trusty arm of Luke (-Hcason, sensational sophomore left half. John Morenc, sophomore center, has showed by h is consistent play that he is one of the outstanding centers in the J\Iidwest. A keen diagnostisian, the South Bend youth is usually found at the bottom of every pileup. Anoth er Hoosier, Anthony ''Red'' Zelencik, has won his way into the hearts of Viator fans by his phenomenal tackle play. The big, unassuming freshman has developed a little more in each game and by the end of the season sh ould be one of Lou Zarza's most dependable linemen.

*

Isselh arJ.t follhaek and captain of the ::McKendree eleven, whil<> not one of tlH~ b rilliant types of players is one of their mosi consistent ground gainers. Ward at left half is supposedly one of the fastest and shiftiest backs in the Little Nineteen Conference this year. Besides being a good football player, he also plays a bit of basketball. Ire was an all state basketeer in '36. Doener, giant red head who takes care of the 1·ight tackle bei·th has a 1·eputation fo1· stopping everything that comes his ·way. He tips the scales at a mere 210 pounds. Dan ham, the other tackle, is nobody's slouc:h .
