Msgr . C. J . Qu ille, of Chi.-.-~ cago. Thi s appointment is a well ~ merited r ecogni tion of the services of Mon s ignor Quill e as Genera.] Secretary of the XXV II International Q Eucharistic Congress. For months :;; and months before the a ctua l opening ~ of t he Co ng r ess he was engaged in ~ super vis ing the tr emendous work of 'Jj; organi zation necessary fo r the Cong r ess. of t he chairman, presented to th e members of the club hi s views on the proposed s ociety, his reaso ns for backing its introduction at St. Viator College, and as much of its asp ira tions and purposes as he was familiar with. Mr. Lawrence O'Shea followed Mr. No lan with a speech in whi ch he praised the aims of the organization, relating the benefits and good works resulting from its many branch chapters throughout the countr y. These r ern arks were furth er added to by the president, Mr. Watson, who then as ked that the individuals of the Coll ege Clu b express t hemsel ves upon the matter. Plan U na nim ous ly Adopted Everyone who vo iced hi s opinion was hear t il y in favor of t he project. A vote was taken, and the affirmative resu lt was practically unanimous. A motion that a pres ident be elected for the society in order to haste n its organization a nd to ins ure its propt:l' direction from the start was passed. Mr. G. Raymond S prag ue was nominated, and, fo llowing a d isc ussion on the capabilities of the nom inee, the choice wu s ma de unan imous . Mr. Sprag ue was instru cted to proceed immediate ly to lny pl ans pl·epa r atory to attaining a cha p ter of the Holy Name Soc iety. 'fhe Hol y Na me Society had its inception under the guiding influence Dominican.s . In 1274, P ope Gregory of St. Dominic, head of the order of X, in order to promote a univer sal respect for t he Holy Na me, asked that the order of preache r s under the direction of St. Dominic help to spread zeal a nd devotion for t he arne of Christ. Blessed John of V ercelli~ then Dominican Genera l led the Order in 1 carrying out the wi ll of the H oly Father with scrup ul ous diligence and untiring zeal. Devotion spr ead rapidly and in 1432 the organization was ow it is given its present name. universal and is recognized as one of the largest and most influential of atholic ocieties. Briefly , its purpose is to maintai n nnd to inc r ease man's faith in the dh;nity of the avior and to promote n respect and honor for His Name. An organi zed body of men triving heart and soul to make Jt-s.us the Man-God better known and better loved- this is the Holy Name Society nnd its nim.

College Students Jubilant Over Victory

The stud ent strike at Eureka college officiall y ended Friday night when Bert Wilson res igned, s tating that it would be impossible for him to continue. His r es ignation was the r es ult of a conference t hat had lasted from 9:00 o'clock in t he morn in g until 7:30 that night. Upon hi s un conditio nal res ig nation, Ri ch a t· cl Dickinson, chai ,._ m a n of the board of tru stees, was nam ed acti ng pres ident of t he college. Th e exec utive committee appoin ted a cornmittee to select a s uecessor to Pres id ent Wilson. Trouble has been brew in g for some time.
