Two rising stars recognised at 2025 CRA Apprentice of the Year Awards

TWO EXCEPTIONAL APPRENTICES WERE RECOGNISED AT THE 2025 COLLISION REPAIR ASSOCIATION’S (CRA) APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

During the CRA annual conference, held on 18 May, Lachlan Chatfield, of Harrow Motor Body Works in Dunedin, was awarded the Golden Hammer Award, and Emma Simpson, of Auckland Panel and Paint Group Limited, was awarded the Golden Gun Award, marking the second consecutive year a woman has taken out one of these awards.

The CRA Apprentice of the Year Awards honour apprentices who demonstrate outstanding commitment, practical abilities, quality workmanship, and a passion for learning. These awards play a vital role in supporting the future of the collision repair industry. By awarding excellence, the CRA is helping to build a strong, skilled, and sustainable workforce for the years ahead.

The award competition is made up of four components: application (including employer support), apprenticeship progress, interview, and practical. The practical component was a new addition in 2025 — it involved a practical test designed to showcase the apprentices’ technical skill in real-time. Both Lachlan and Emma scored highly across all four components, demonstrating their wellrounded abilities.

Why ADAS calibration and wheel alignment go hand in hand

ADAS CALIBRATION AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT ARE INCREASINGLY INSEPARABLE IN MODERN WORKSHOPS, WITH REPCO OFFERING THE TOOLS TECHNICIANS NEED TO ENSURE TODAY’S SENSORDRIVEN VEHICLES REMAIN SAFE, ACCURATE, AND ROAD-READY

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have become increasingly common in modern vehicles. These systems rely on a variety of sensors and cameras to provide drivers with a safer and more comfortable driving experience. As a vehicle technician, it’s crucial to understand the relationship between ADAS calibration and wheel alignment.

THE IMPACT OF WHEEL ALIGNMENT ON ADAS

Wheel alignment plays a crucial role in ADAS performance. Proper alignment ensures that the vehicle’s wheels are properly angled and positioned. Misalignment can cause the vehicle to pull to one side or cause uneven tyre wear. This can negatively impact the accuracy of ADAS sensors and cameras. For example, a misaligned steering wheel can affect the accuracy of lane departure warnings, and uneven tyre wear can affect the accuracy of tyre pressure monitoring systems.

ADAS CALIBRATION AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT WORK TOGETHER

Performing a wheel alignment without calibrating ADAS systems can lead to inaccurate sensor readings and decreased system performance. When a vehicle’s wheels

are aligned, the sensors and cameras may need to be recalibrated to ensure accurate readings. Similarly, calibrating ADAS systems without properly aligning the wheels can result in inaccurate sensor readings, leading to decreased system performance.

THE IMPORTANCE OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE

To ensure that ADAS systems and wheel alignment work together effectively, regular

maintenance is crucial. You should perform routine checks on wheel alignment and ADAS sensors and cameras to ensure proper functionality. Additionally, drivers should be educated on the importance of regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance of their vehicle’s ADAS systems.

FUTUREPROOFING YOUR WORKSHOP

ADAS calibration and wheel alignment are interconnected processes that play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and performance of a vehicle’s safety systems. As a vehicle technician, it’s important to understand the relationship between these processes and perform them together to ensure optimal vehicle performance. With more and more ADAS equipped vehicles on the road, ensuring you have the right equipment in your workshop is more important than ever before.

Repco has a range of wheel alignment and ADAS calibration equipment to help keep your workshop runnin’ smoothly now and into the future. Talk to an Equipment Specialist today on 0800 237 726

Turners Automotive Group records strong FY25 performance

TURNERS AUTOMOTIVE GROUP REPORTS A NET PROFIT AFTER TAX OF $38.6 MILLION FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2025, MARKING A 17% INCREASE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR

This announcement highlights a consistent growth trajectory over the past decade, with total annual dividends reaching 29 cents per share, a 14% increase year-on-year.

Despite facing economic challenges, Turners’ diversified business model has proven resilient. Earnings per share also saw a rise, up 17% to 43.3 cents. The company’s financial results signal a positive outlook for the New Zealand used car market, indicating steady consumer demand in a fluctuating economic environment.

Turners CEO, Todd Hunter, acknowledged the tough conditions, especially in the Auto Retail division during the first half of the financial year, akin to the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) period. He noted that the used vehicle market remained resilient, with the company managing to navigate through squeezed margins and eventually returning to growth in

the second half of the year.

The company’s strategic diversification into Finance, Insurance, and Credit Management has paid off. The Finance segment reported a 31% increase in profit to $16 million, Insurance grew by 13% to $16.2 million, and Credit Management saw an 11% increase in profit to $3.5 million. These segments helped offset the initial pressures on the Auto Retail division and contributed to the group’s overall financial health.

Turners’ Chairman, Grant Baker, reflected on the strategic approach, stating

the company’s belief in the resilience of used auto sales and the benefit of diversification. Looking ahead, Turners anticipates surpassing its FY28 goal of $65 million in net profit before tax ahead of schedule, bolstered by continued branch expansion, market share gains, and growth in its Finance and Insurance businesses.

Blackfern conference: Exploring the role of business leadership

THIS AUGUST’S BLACKFERN CONFERENCE IN TASMANIA WILL OFFER ATTENDEES A TOOLKIT FOR NAVIGATING THE COMPLEXITIES OF BUSINESS OWNERSHIP

Transitioning from an automotive repairer to a business owner is an adventure many in the industry embark upon. Often initiated by buying into a business or stepping up to the challenge, this journey introduces a new realm of management responsibilities.

The Blackfern Conference, hosted in Hobart this August, addresses one of the core questions of this transition: ‘Are leaders born or made?’ Through a series of workshops, industry professionals will gather to tackle the intricacies of leadership within the context of the automotive aftermarket. These sessions aim to shed light on adapting management styles to suit different personalities and navigating the challenges that come with staff and customer management.

A fundamental part of the conference will be understanding how effective leadership correlates to tangible benefits like increased productivity, better charge-out hours, and a

positive business environment. Also on the agenda is the crucial topic of succession planning, preparing businesses for longevity and success.

But the learning doesn’t stop at leadership. The conference will delve into the specifics about Terms and Conditions relevant to workshop repairers, including legal rights, handling complaints, and procedures for vehicle retention and late payment fees. Clarity will also be provided on the Personal Property Securities Act 1999 and the importance of having a Quality Management System (QMS) in place for warrant of fitness and certificate of fitness inspections.

Recognising the power of collective wisdom, a

Cooperative quorum will offer the chance to voice opinions and have your say. Balancing the learning sessions, the conference also encourages exploration and networking through social events, offering trips to iconic Hobart locations like the Salamanca markets and Port Arthur, not to mention a visit to the scenic Bruney Island.

An added bonus for early birds, registrations completed by 20 June 2025 could win you a stay at the luxurious Tasman Hotel, with accommodation costs covered up to AU$1495.

Budget 2025: Overall, a win for automotive

WHAT DOES BUDGET 2025 MEAN FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR? FORMER MP, JAMES MCDOWALL, NOW HEAD OF ADVOCACY AT MTA, PROVIDES AN ANALYSIS ON WHAT BUSINESS OWNERS AND EMPLOYERS NEED TO KNOW

Budget 2025 has been described, probably rightly, as a win for business — especially small and medium enterprises. There’s no shortage of those in the automotive sector — from dealerships to workshops, collision repairers and collision repairers. So, by extension, it’s a win for our industry. The centrepiece is the new Investment Boost tax incentive, which allows businesses to immediately deduct 20% of the value of new capital assets, on top of normal depreciation. The policy is expected to inject fresh spending and activity into the economy, which is good news for suppliers and service providers alike. Of course, there’s always the risk that a few people might treat themselves under the guise of productivity (I’m not sure a new boat will cut it).

MEANS TESTING

One of the most noticeable shifts in Budget 2025 is the Government’s expanded use of means testing:

• From April 2026, the first year of the Best Start Payment will be fully income-tested, with payments cut off for families earning over $97,000 per year.

• Government annual contributions to KiwiSaver will no longer be available to individuals earning over $180,000 per year, and the lump sum is being halved for everyone.

• In 2027, the Jobseeker Benefit for 18–19-yearolds will be income-tested against parents’ earnings.

The latter is curious. On the surface, it makes complete sense: encouraging (read pushing) young people into work or study is positive, and it could increase interest in trades like automotive. After all, work or study … why not both? Many of them will end up in vocational pathways, especially on-the-job training like apprenticeships. That means now is the time to ensure the system is ready, with the right funding, support for employers, and a clear pipeline from school to skilled work. Automotive businesses could be a big part of the solution — if the investment follows. But the long lead time and lack of detail raises questions about how it will be implemented and whether the vocational system will be ready to absorb the extra demand.

Annoyingly, the Budget does not include any new funding or expansion for the Apprenticeship Boost scheme; the previously announced narrowing of the scheme remains in place. While the Budget does invest in broader vocational education and training, including increased subsidies and support for

enrolments, there is no direct reinvestment of Jobseeker savings into employer-facing apprenticeship support at this stage. That is a shame, a missed opportunity. Luckily, there’s still plenty of time to have conversations about this.

KIWISAVER CHANGES

From 1 April 2026, the default KiwiSaver contribution rate will rise to 3.5%. Then, from 1 April 2028, it will increase again to 4%. For the few businesses using total remuneration packages — where KiwiSaver is included in the salary — this may not result in higher costs. But for most others, it will be an added expense. For example, if you have an employee earning $80,000 per year, your current employer contribution at 3% is $2400 annually. Under the new 4% rate, that increases to $3200 — an extra $800 per employee each year.

Startups are also set to benefit from changes to employee share scheme taxation, making it easier for them to attract and retain talent in a competitive global market. This means employees who receive shares as part of their remuneration will be able to defer paying tax on

those shares until a later point, typically when the shares become more liquid or are sold.

DEFENCE BOOST

As a former political spokesperson for defence, I thought I’d slip this one in. The Budget delivers a significant uplift in defence funding, with $477 million in new operating spending and over $1 billion in new capital investment allocated to the New Zealand Defence Force. The funding will support upgrades to equipment, infrastructure, and personnel readiness. An additional $1.6 billion is earmarked for defence in Budget 2026. Why is this relevant? As the Defence Force ramps up recruitment and training, it should attract young people with mechanical, engineering, or technical interests — the same talent pool automotive businesses rely on for apprenticeships and skilled roles. Employers may need to compete more actively for talent or consider how to position automotive careers as equally rewarding and future-focused. There you go, I made it relevant.

Budget 2025 — in theory — sets the stage for a more resilient economy that relies less on government debt. Now is the time for employers to get ready, whether it’s planning for KiwiSaver changes, thinking about how to attract and retain skilled staff, or making the most of new investment incentives. In the lead-up, the Government signalled that it was not going to be about short-term wins but about laying the groundwork for growth — and businesses that are ready to adapt will be well placed to lead the way.

That is what New Zealand got on Budget Day.

MTA launches plastic2eco programme to reduce bumper waste

A GROUNDBREAKING INITIATIVE AIMS FOR A FUTURE WITH ZERO LANDFILL WASTE FROM THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SECTOR

In New Zealand, the disposal of vehicle bumpers has long been an environmental concern, with an estimated 100,000 bumpers ending up in landfills annually as a result of vehicle collisions, repairs, or insurance write-offs. This persistent issue has now been addressed by the MTA through the introduction of the plastic2eco programme, designed to significantly reduce waste and promote recycling within the automotive repair industry.

Larry Fallowfield, MTA Sector Manager, explained the industry’s position: “Collision repairers want to do the right thing by the environment, but there’s simply been no way to dispose of bumpers in an environmentally supportive way.” The plastic2eco programme seeks to rectify this by establishing a systematic method for collecting, transporting, and repurposing plastic waste from the automotive sector.

Thanks to the collaboration with Alloy Logistic Solutions, waste bumpers and inner guard liners will be collected in specially

designed cages from participating collision repair shops. This initiative is partly funded by an Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) Workplace Injury Prevention Grant, underscoring the programme’s commitment to both environmental and workplace enhancements.

The collected bumpers will find new life through Waiuku-based recycling company Future Post, where they will be re-purposed into fencing products. Additionally, conversations with resource management company Enviro NZ are underway to explore the potential of converting plastic vehicle waste into alternative fuel, providing a sustainable replacement for coal in industrial processes.

Initially targeting Auckland’s southern and eastern suburbs, plastic2eco is set to onboard forty businesses by the end of June, with plans for rapid expansion into Hamilton, New Plymouth, and additional Auckland areas. The programme aims for a North Island-wide implementation by late 2025, followed by a

rollout in the South Island by mid-2026. The ambition is clear: almost entirely eliminate bumper waste in landfills by the end of 2026.

The intersection of environmental responsibility and industry innovation lies at the heart of the plastic2eco programme, and Fallowfield stressed the importance of support from insurance companies to ensure the programme’s success, stating, “We really need them to support participating collision repairers by paying for the collection and processing of the bumpers, rather than leaving it to small business owners to foot the bill.”

McDowall expressed his understanding of the necessity for prioritising crimes but stressed that overlooking thousands of offences annually is wholly unacceptable. He pointed out, “Last year, there [were] almost 30,000 instances of theft from service stations, according to NZ Police’s own data. Many of those would be under the reported threshold — you can fill up most cars for under $150 — and therefore not investigated.”

The MTA’s stance is supported by Retail NZ and retail advocate Sunny Kaushal, who is the Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Group for Victims of Retail Crime, both of whom advocate for urgent discussions with the Minister and the Police Commissioner.

Precision Equipment launches new Rotary wheel service range

INTRODUCING A COMPLETE SUITE OF BEST-IN-CLASS TYRE CHANGERS, WHEEL BALANCERS, AND ALIGNMENT MACHINES

Precision Equipment is proud to announce the launch of the all-new Rotary wheel service range in New Zealand. This launch standardises Precision’s local offering with the latest Rotary wheel service equipment available in the United States, ensuring our customers

receive globally recognised, state-of-the-art solutions that deliver performance, precision, and longevity.

This comprehensive lineup includes the Rotary R141iP, R145DR, and R1250 Leverless Pro tyre changers; the R155 and R180 wheel balancers (with optional wheel lifter), and the newly added R1065 and R1090 3D Wheel Aligners. Together, these machines provide a

full-service wheel and tyre solution trusted by workshops around the world

Chris Ratcliffe, National Business Manager at Precision Equipment, says, “These machines are more than just equipment — they’re an investment in reliability, technician efficiency,

and long-term performance. When our customers choose Rotary, they’re choosing a brand that’s been backing the workshop for 100 years. That legacy matters.”

The R1250 Leverless Pro, in particular, is designed for high-volume, premium tyre shops and dealerships handling today’s performance wheels and run-flat tyres. The patented leverless technology eliminates the

need for traditional tyre irons, minimising the risk of wheel damage and operator fatigue.

Meanwhile, the R180 Wheel Balancer, paired with the optional pneumatic wheel lifter, offers pinpoint accuracy and improved ergonomics. Its touchless data entry and intuitive interface make balancing fast, easy, and repeatable.

Precision Equipment has also introduced the Rotary R1065 and R1090 3D Wheel Aligners to the range, both offering rapid setup, accurate readings, and easy-touse interfaces for maximised technician productivity. These aligners are perfect for

workshops wanting to boost revenue through fast-turnaround alignment services without sacrificing quality.

“With the aligners, the biggest win for our customers is how quickly they can get through jobs — less time per vehicle, better margins, and a consistent experience for their customers,” says Ratcliffe.

Rotary Solutions is proudly celebrating 100 years of innovation in 2025. Since 1925, the brand has set the benchmark for vehicle lifts and workshop equipment globally. This century of excellence is reflected in every wheel service machine produced today — engineered with the same uncompromising commitment to quality that made Rotary a workshop icon.

Ratcliffe concludes, “When you put a Rotary machine in your workshop, you’re not just buying equipment — you’re investing in 100 years of proven performance, safety, and global support. In a market crowded with low-cost, low-quality alternatives, that kind of legacy offers real peace of mind.

With Rotary’s 100-year legacy and Precision’s local expertise, your wheel service capabilities are in the best hands.

Introducing Bright: Reliable tyre changing and wheel balancing solutions from Ace Autoparts

SINCE 1996, ACE AUTOPARTS HAS BEEN A TRUSTED SPECIALIST SUPPLIER OF HIGH-QUALITY AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE PARTS WITH EXCLUSIVE NZ DISTRIBUTION OF SEVERAL LEADING BRANDS

Bright is a globally recognised manufacturer of tyre service equipment, known for delivering robust, workshopready solutions. The Bright range covers everything from entry-level machines for small garages to fully automated options for busy commercial workshops. Each model is designed to offer the right mix of features, reliability, and value, helping workshops choose equipment that fits their technical needs and operational budget.

TYRE CHANGERS

The Bright LC890 ($2,399+GST) is a semiautomatic swing-arm tyre changer suited to small and medium-sized workshops. It delivers solid performance with a 2,500kg bead breaker, 11”–24” clamping range, and optional helper arm. It’s ideal for workshops looking for a costeffective but capable machine for standard tyre service jobs.

For a more advanced setup, the Bright LC889N ($3,842.50+GST) offers a fully automatic tilt-back column and 2800kg bead breaker. It handles low-profile and run-flat tyres with ease, and its optional helper arm can further boost efficiency during complex jobs.

The Bright 889NV/390 ($7,900+GST) moves into premium territory with a leverless mount/ demount system and a built-in assist arm as standard. Designed for handling high-end wheels safely, it features a reinforced doublebending column, powerful bead breaker, and wider clamping range (11”–26”). It’s well suited to modern workshops that regularly service performance or luxury vehicles.

At the top of the tyre changer range is the Bright 899C ($16,499+GST), a hydraulically powered machine with bead breaker discs and an automatic lifting device. With a 1400kg bead breaker force, adjustable main shaft, and LCD monitoring system, it’s designed for highvolume workshops or specialists needing toptier capability for run-flat and oversized wheels.

WHEEL BALANCERS

On the wheel balancing side, Ace Autoparts offers models that match the same range of workshop needs.

The CB910GB ($2,120+GST) is a wellrounded, semi-automatic option suitable for

general workshop use. It offers static and dynamic balancing modes, multiple ALU programmes, and an easy-to-use interface. Its durable construction and self-calibration function provide long-term reliability at an accessible price.

Moving up, the Bright CB67 ($2,783.68+GST) adds semi-automatic features, Italian software, and energy-saving standby mode. With compatibility for motorcycle wheels (via optional adapters), it’s ideal for workshops wanting more capability without stepping into fully automatic systems.

The CB75S ($3,790+GST) introduces 3D automatic balancing with laser-guided weight placement, automatic dimension measurement, and a large LCD monitor. Its precision and ease of use make it a good fit for busier tyre shops.

The CB78S and CB78P (both $7,450+GST, pre-order) represent Bright’s top-end balancing machines. Both models use sonar-based measurement and Italian software for fast, accurate balancing. The CB78P adds a 19” touchscreen and an advanced inverter processing system. These machines are designed for professional workshops where accuracy, speed, and ease of operation are critical.

AIR SYSTEMS AND ACCESSORIES

To ensure reliable performance from Bright’s pneumatic equipment, Ace also supplies workshop-ready air systems. The B&D PM VSD screw compressors (7.5kW and 15kW) offer variable speed operation, consistent pressure, and low maintenance — ideal for powering bead breakers and assist arms. The compact STEL Super Mini suits smaller or mobile setups, while the BD-10 refrigerated air dryer protects equipment by removing moisture from compressed air systems.

For added capability, a selection of helper arms is available: the STEL-AL320, STEL-AL390H, and STEL-PL240 assist with mounting and demounting difficult tyres and reduce strain on operators. The BJ-09 wheel lifter allows precise and safe positioning of heavy wheels on balancers,

helping improve accuracy while reducing manual handling risks.

The result is a complete solution for tyre service operations — from compact setups to larger, high-throughput facilities. Ace Autoparts’ Bright equipment range gives workshops the tools they need to deliver efficient, accurate, and safe tyre changing and balancing, backed by responsive local support and a two-year warranty across all models.

Tyre changing is child’s play with Hunter

CHANGING A TYRE CAN BE BACK-BREAKING WORK; GEORGE STOCK & COMPANY’S RANGE OF HUNTER ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT LEAVES THE BREAKING TO THE BEAD

When it comes to running a wheel and tyre service business, one of the most important pieces of equipment that keeps the wheels turning is a tyre changer. That’s why investing in the right one is vital, not only to the balance sheet, but to the technicians and customers. However, it’s hard to decide what machine to buy with the multitude of brands on offer. If it’s quality, efficiency, and versatility you’re after, look no further than the Hunter Engineering range — from conventional tyre changers to fully automatic machines that even a child can change a tyre with — proudly distributed in New Zealand by Stocks.

TABLE-TOP

At Hunter’s entry-level end of the range sit the TCX54 and TCX57 table-top tyre changers, both of which feature a conventional design familiar to most tyre technicians, but with more advanced features than equipment sold by other manufacturers. Hunter table-tops are designed to make the operator’s life easier, mitigating fatigue and safety risk by reducing the use of bars and hammers when changing a tyre, also improving efficiency.

CENTER-CLAMP

By far our most popular type of tyre changer is the center-clamp, with the Hunter TCX70 and Maverick® being some of the best kit available. One of the key benefits of this design is that it enables operators to secure wheels and change tyres without damaging the rim, making them the ideal choice for businesses that work with high-value vehicles and wheels made from exotic materials like carbon fibre. As far as technician-focused machines are concerned, it doesn’t get any better than the Maverick® with its fully variable controls, SmartSet™ leverless toolhead, safety features to protect the wheel, tyre and technician, and a built-in tyre inflator.

FULLY AUTOMATIC

The Hunter Revolution is without a doubt the most technologically advanced tyre changer on the

market thanks to its advanced design. The benefits are almost endless, with an average 2-minute service time for all tyre and wheel types, semi-autonomous WalkAway™ mode — saving 25% time per four-tyre set, and 13 fewer decisions for operators to make compared to using a typical tyre changer. We weren’t joking when we said a kid can change a tyre on this machine.

No tyre changer is complete without ongoing service and support, which is why Stocks offers a 36-month service agreement and warranties on all its equipment.

Autocare 2025: steering the automotive aftermarket towards success

TAKING PLACE 20–21 JUNE AT THE BRISBANE CONVENTION & EXHIBITION CENTRE, AUTOCARE 2025, RECOGNISED AS AUSTRALIA’S PREMIER EDUCATIONAL EVENT FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR, WILL OFFER A SERIES OF INFORMATIVE PANEL DISCUSSIONS, COMMENCING WITH A PIVOTAL SESSION ADDRESSING THE FUTURE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET

The question at the heart of this discussion — what will success look like for the aftermarket in the next five years, and how do we achieve it?

The event will kick off with the opening keynote, Critical Crossroads: Five Trends Transforming the Automotive Aftermarket Landscape. Industry leaders, including Rob Cameron (GPC Asia Pacific), Graeme Whickman (Amotiv), Benjamin Ward (Supercheap Auto), Rod Camm (MTA Queensland), and Stuart Charity (AAAA), will share their insights into electrification, data access, skills shortages, evolving consumer demands, and technological advancements shaping the industry’s future.

Stuart Charity highlights the session’s

importance: “It’s a high-level conversation about the future — about leadership, ambition, and the aftermarket we aim to build.”

Autocare 2025 promises an educational bonanza for technicians, apprentices, and workshop owners with its technical training and workshop management streams. A notable addition are two full-day diagnostic training sessions on 19th June, overseen by US experts Brandon Steckler and Keith Perkins, ensuring participants have the latest knowledge to thrive in an evolving landscape.

KYB marks two decades of automotive excellence in Asia Pacific

RENOWNED FOR LEADING THE WAY IN HYDRAULIC AND SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGIES, KYB RECENTLY CELEBRATED THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF KYB ASIA PACIFIC IN BANGKOK

The spotlight was on KYB Asia Pacific, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, as it commemorated 20 years of exceptional service in the distribution, research, and development of KYB aftermarket products. With a vast reach spanning over 19 countries in Asia and Oceania, KYB Asia Pacific has been instrumental in expanding the company’s aftermarket presence since its initiation in 2005. The Bangkok office has been pivotal in introducing KYB parts to the aftermarket, underscoring Thailand’s central role in KYB’s regional operations.

In celebration of this landmark anniversary, KYB Asian Pacific Corporation Limited hosted a grand event on May 16 at the Hotel Nikko Bangkok. The gala was attended by 229 guests, comprising distributors, business partners, and employees, all of whom have made significant contributions to the subsidiary’s sustained growth and success.

The event featured opening speeches from Mr. Masahiro Kawase, President of KYB Corporation, and Mr. Masahiro Miwa, Managing Director of KYB Asian Pacific Corporation Limited. Both leaders extended heartfelt thanks to their partners and staff, acknowledging their unyielding support and dedication over the years.

A highlight for the New Zealand automotive aftermarket was the special recognition given to Mount Shop, KYB’s certified distributor in New Zealand. Mount Shop’s director, Hemi Toia, received an extension to their supplier agreement, which recognised the company’s steadfast support and partnership with KYB to

date. The company took this chance to send a staff delegation to partake in the anniversary festivities, further cementing its relationship with the brand, which has supplied a large part of their inventory of leading shock absorber products.

The event also unveiled a special anniversary video titled ‘How Old Are You?’, showcased in a cinematic style, illustrating KYB products’ integration into customers’ lives at multiple stages. This production reflected KYB’s longstanding dedication to quality and its enduring connection with its clientele. Entertainment and performances, along with a lively lucky draw, rounded off the evening, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration among attendees. This significant anniversary not only marked two decades of KYB’s impact in the Asia and Oceania regions but also highlighted the successful collaboration between international brands and local distributors like Mount Shop. Their collective efforts ensure the availability of high-quality automotive components across New Zealand, contributing to the safety and efficiency of vehicles nationwide.
