Stipend Checks

September 20 registration deadline for Oct 5 test October 5 SAT Test Day October 18 registration deadline for Nov 2 test November 2 SAT Test Day November 22 registration deadline for Dec 7 test December 7 SAT Test Day

This year you will get your stipend check once per semester instead of each month. For example, you will get your total money for September, October, November, & December attendance in ONE check that will be submitted after the last meeting in December. Please keep in mind that it can take several weeks to get your check in the mail.

This online activity will be sent in an email the first week of September. It will count as your 1st weekly meeting attendance and your $10 stipend if you complete it!

College Night Attend College Night at the Higher Ed Center in Abingdon or at Oak Point Elementary School in Chilhowie as an extra way to earn an attendance stipend this month!

Best wishes and LOTS of love to Leigh Ann as she moves on to her next great adventure with Radford University ! She has been an amazing Director of Upward Bound and we will see the benefits of her leadership & student advocacy for years to come. We will miss her and all of our crazy & fun times with UB, but I am sure we will all cross paths again soon! LOVE YA, LEIGH ANN!!

MAIN COURSE (weekly meetings)

September The first week of September will be an online assignment, then we will start our in-person meetings the following week. Since it will just be Stacey hosting the meetings at each school this month, there may be a week that your school won’t be able to meet. However, we are trying to make sure everyone has the opportunity to earn the full $40 attendance stipend for September. It will be very important to attend the September meetings as we will be getting new students oriented to Upward Bound, taking care of all paperwork, and getting our Seniors prepared for the college admissions process. Please be watching your email for dates and times!!

September Stipend Activity Just like last year, you must complete and turn in an activity each month in order to earn your attendance stipend. This month you have to complete the Upward Bound Required Paperwork for 2024-25.
